+ -1 moreOh I love that guy! He came out and it turns out it was just that little rope that hangs down - the safety rope on the garage door. He pulled the rope, lifted it back up again and the garage door was fixed - and he didn't charge me anything!

+ -1 moreBy the time Norman left, the garage door opened smoothly, quietly, and responsively. Before, when we pressed the button to open it, the mechanical "arm" pulling the chain would jerk and resist. Sometimes, it would refuse to budge. Now, the door opens without complaint. It acts like a brand-new contraption!
Description of Work: Our garage door was dysfunctional. We had had trouble with it for several months, off and on. ACTSYS sent a service technician the same day I called, and I thought we would have to replace the automatic garage door opener. After my initial call, someone from the company called back to tell me what time the technician would arrive, what kind of truck he would be driving, and what his name was. (This is a very professional outfit.) Norman the technician arrived on time. He listened to my explanation of the problem and checked the garage door opener/track/chain, etc. After careful inspection, experimentation, and evaluation, he announced that we did not need a new garage door opener (which would have cost between $400 and $500); instead, he just needed to adjust and oil the chain. and we needed to ensure the connection was secure (the plug comes loose with the vibration of the garage door opening and closing). He solved the dilemma quickly and expertly.

I chose this company because the the excellent ratings in Angie's list, and it was proved to be the right move. Highly recommended. Update - Oct 2011. The weather strpping at the top of the garage door had a gap allowing insects to come in. ActSys quickly came out and replaced the weather stripping for no charge.

He replaced the rails, installed the garage door opener unit, installed the control panel on the garage wall, replaced the keypad on the outside wall and replaced the floor sensors. He even programmed the garage door button in my car. He hauled all the old equipment and packaging back in his truck. All of this was done in a matter of 45 minutes. Garage Door opener is working flawlessly and it is so quiet. Glad we listened to their recommendation By the way, the technician did apologize about the missed schedule and his story matched exactly what the dispatcher said.
Description of Work: After 15 years, our Garage Door Opener finally needed to get replaced. Actsys gave us a quote for a better upgrade replacement 3/4 HP Garage Door Opener which included parts, installation and tax. After doing comparison shopping, we decided to have them install what they recommended. We are glad we did. We only had one slight issue with scheduling. The technician was scheduled for the install on Wednesday afternoon but he did not show up. The dispatcher called later that day and explained that somehow the technician did not get the scheduled visit that was transmitted to him via his cellphone. So install was rescheduled for Friday morning. The technician arrived promptly at 8:30AM as promised.

Description of Work: One of my garage door springs broke on Sunday. We called Actsys on Sunday and got a return call later that night which we missed. Got another follow-up return call early Monday morning. We called back and scheduled the technician visit for Tuesday. The dispatcher triaged the problem we had with the garage door over the phone and was able to give me a specific price quote to replace both springs which I liked. I knew exactly how much the cost of the service.

+ -1 moreI got an estimate by phone, the next day I decided they were too high and I called to cancel. The owner of the company called me a "jerk" and was quite abusive. The experience with them was horrible, and will never reccomend them.

+ -1 moreI cancelled. It seems to me that a company that doesn't care about being on time (or calling if they're going to be late) may also have a problem with customer service.
Description of Work: They were supposed to show up at 1, instead they called at 3 and said they "were on their way." Perhaps this is not the best company to use if you're on a schedule or if you have to time off time to have the service done.

+ -1 moreI called the company yesterday to come and give me an estimate on repairing or replacing my garage door. Every time that I tried to open it the roller on one side would pop off the track derailing the door. The appointment was set for this morning and the technician arrived promptly. He was very friendly and courteous and informed me that he believed that basic maintenance was all that was required to repair the problem that I was having with my garage door. After he was through with the maintenance (i.e. tightening springs, straightening track, lubricating rollers), he had me open and close it several times to see if I was satisfied. He also left me a spray can of lubricant and told me to spray the rollers now and again to keep them from rusting.
Description of Work: Fixed problem wih garage door which had a roller on one side that popped out every time it was opened.

+ -1 moreIn this age of "We'll be there between 12 noon and 5 pm", I called ACTSYS for a service call today. When my wife left this morning, both garage door springs broke at the same time. Pretty odd to have them both go, but it is what it is... I looked up Garage door service on Angieslist.com and called Actsys, and they were highly recommended. Now, this was at 10 AM today. The office said they would send a tech before 11:00 AM. The guy arrived at 10:35 AM, within 35 minutes of my call. He was courteous and replaced both springs in 45 minutes. Price was not cheap at $245, but the service was excellent. They even took my AMEX without a hitch. Yes, I was impressed.
Description of Work: Replaced broken garage door lift springs.

+ -1 moreThey were prompt, called to let us know when the truck was leaving to pick up the door, and about what time to expect them. The installation crew did not speak English, so communication was a bit difficult, but they were very friendly, and did a great job. They cleaned up, and left the garage floor cleaner than when they came. The owner speaks English, and I could always get him on the phone. The city inspector said that they did a great job, and had seen other work they had done, and it was all good quality work.
Description of Work: They completely replaced our garage door, including all the tracks and mounting, motor, etc.

The workmanship was excellent and the work was very good. They cleaned up well after they finished the job. The doors passed inspection the first time and the inspector was impressed with the quality of work.

+ -1 moreGreat! They came out on a weekend as promised and serviced the doors. Told us we did not need new motors which I thought was honorable! When I looked at what had been done, I saw that one of the doors weather stripping had not been replaced and that the garage door lights had been disconnected by accident. Called right away and was told someone would be there on Monday. Sure enough, someone came on Monday and got everything straightened out. Service was great and work was great!
