Sometimes they would answer their phone, and other times they wouldn't. We left messages telling them that we were interested in having them do our driveway, and they didn't call us back.
Description of Work: They gave us an estimate, and then when I tried to contact them, they gave us the run around.

After finding the company on Angie's List I contacted them and Abbot came to the house (pretty much as scheduled) to give us an estimate, which was 30% better than the competition. Super nice guy, very polite and personable. I told him that what was important to me was quality and I wanted the best possible job and was willing to pay more to get it done right. We agreed on a better quality asphalt (at a higher price) and that he would subsequently (his recommendation) seal the driveway with airport-grade sealer (for more money). Before the scheduled date, Abbott tried to delay the job because he said he couldn't get any asphalt, but I insisted on having him do it as scheduled because I needed to show the house for sale and could not lose another week. He showed up with a crew (looked like they had been subcontracted) and they did the job. He was very polite and apparently service-oriented but didn't seem to be very knowledgeable, changing his story about when to seal the driveway based on information from the subcontractors (?). He told me not to drive on the driveway for 48 hours. We stayed off it for 72 hours. Approximately one week later he came back and sealed the driveway. By that time I had noticed imperfections in the way the driveway had been laid down and also that my cars' tires were leaving indentations (tread marks) in the pavement, so I asked Abbott to address these problems before sealing the job (which he did in a very amateurish manner. I could and would have done better). Again, we stayed off the refinished surface 50% more time than he instructed us to. Since that time (only a couple of months) the driveway has already begun to crumble on the outside edges, there are many spots where the weight of the cars has left indentations in the pavement and even cracked it in some spots, and the driveway has stains all over it (from water accumulation?). I tried to reach Abbott by phone several times in the weeks after the job was "done", but he never returned my calls. My wife and I have been very busy with full-time jobs and all the other aspects of preparing a house for sale and showing it (sometimes several times a day) and preparing a move to Europe, so we have not had a chance to pursue this, but now I was in Angie's List looking for a mover and decided to post this report as I have intended to do since this job unfortunately went very wrong.
Description of Work: Subject company refinished my driveway with a new layer of asphalt. The job was done so badly that I would have been better off spraying the driveway with ant poison and painting it for much less money.

Well they stand up to their name. I thought we would have to tear out the old sidewalk but they were able to repair it and match the color perfect with the existing concrete. The owner even inspected the finished job.
Description of Work: Above & Beyond repaired a part of my front side walk that was cracked.

The crew went about their business in a timely manner. At one point the work was delayed by the inability to get needed rock. Asphalt was laid--small area was not satisfactory and was immediately rectified. Overall very good job.
Description of Work: Dug up circular driveway. Removed roots of 3 oak trees. Removal of fill. Sub base prep/base prep/asphalt.
