It was the single most awful service experience I've ever dealt with. The locksmith used 2 tools, one was a pick gun, and he tried to pick my lock, but after a few tries claimed it wouldn't work on my lock. It should have because it is a very standard lock. Then he asked if he could drill the lock and I said yes, so he did. After that he asked me 3 times if I wanted him to change the lock and I repeatedly said no that I'd take care of it. With that he pushed open my door and walked right into my house, uninvited. I am a single female and I asked him to wait outside and that I'd bring him the payment to him, but he wouldn't leave my house without the money. The locksmith then proceeded to write out a bill for $185.00, $35 for the service fee and $150 for drilling my lock, all of which he did in less than 10 minutes. I was stunned by such an outrageous fee and he told me that's the way the business works. The locksmith,Dani Abrun, wanted a credit card number and there was no way he was going to get that from me, so I told him I don't give out my credit card number. I wrote out a check "in the name of his company" and THAT upset him. He wanted the check written out to him personally, which made no sense to me, but again, I wanted this man out of my house. I wrote out the check and on the memo line I wrote $35 service fee and uninformed BS fee of $150 for drilling my lock. That upset him too, but I told him it was my check and it wasn't up to him to approve what I wrote on the memo line. He finally left my house and I locked the doors and went into my garage which is attached to my house to get in my car to go to a physical therapy appt. But I couldn't get out of my garage because the locksmith blocked me in refusing to get off my driveway, because NOW he was refusing the check and wanted cash for his services. He said he'd give me a 10% discount. I said no and he asked me what I thought was fair. I said $75.00, which he didn't agree with. The man said he'd call the police and I encouraged him to do so, and after I said that I called my bank to cancel the check I wrote him. Then he said he'd cut the fee in half if I paid him in cash and it was obvious that he wouldn't leave my driveway until I agreed. Shame on me for feeling so intimidated and just wanting this man to go away and leave me alone. I agreed to the $90, but wouldn't give him the cash until he gave me my check back and changed the amount on the receipt and initialed it. I made sure to file a complaint with the BBB and I tried to do so with the IRS over Mr. Abrun insisting on the cash payment, but couldn't get through to them today, so I will try again tomorrow. I will NEVER again use another person to do anything at my home without a referal from someone I trust. Ever!
Description of Work: I locked myself out of my house so a friend gave me phone numbers for 2 locksmiths that she found in the phone book.. I called them both, and the locksmith from A Master Locksmith arrived first, so I canceled the other locksmith. The locksmith attempted to pick my lock with a pick gun and another tool, but couldn't pick the lock. He should have been able to because it is a standard lock. The he used an ordinary drill to drill through the lock, which worked. His efforts took less than 10 minutes.
