A week ago, on January 16th, 2012, I brought my XBOX 360 console over to 1Repairstop at their Flagler Street store. Their website promised a flat rate of $59 to fix an XBOX 360. Before accepting the unit they tested the console, and replied, "It's the memory. We can fix it for you in two hours for $79.00." They also wanted to sell me on an additional modification to the unit for a total of $89.00. They informed me that I could wait up to 7 days for the $59.00 repair. Assuming that the unit could normally be fixed in two hours, (or less) I decided to leave it with them for their standard flat fee of $59.00. After not hearing from them for a week, they informed me that they couldn't work on my unit because ( as they put it) "It's refurbished, and has been opened up before". They then insisted that I pay a $10 fee to get my unit back from them. I sure wish they would have rejected the unit the day I brought it in. Their paperwork states that the charge for unrepaired items is $10, so I reluctantly paid the fee, just to get my XBOX back. Bottom line, they deserve an F across the board because of the following reasons. 1. They never bothered to call me to tell me that they couldn't do the work. 2. They tried to sell me on additional and unnecessary services after I came in to the store. 3. They set up a situation where many people would have just left the broken box with them, giving them an inventory of spare parts. 4. In a well run shop, the $10 fee would be fair if I was the one rejecting the repair, not them. They should have taken the steps necessary to repair my machine, and lived up to their advertised promise of a flat rate for the job. I'm sure glad that I didn't ship my XBOX to them, as I would have been stuck for those charges as well. My best advise is to stay clear and try another shop.
