Description of Work: Scheduled an appointment for Friday between 9:00 and noon. I called the day before to stress the need to be here early, because of the high traffic volume due to different events going on in the area. I said they could even come earlier than 9:00. They called after 10:00 to re-schedule the appointment, because they could not get through the traffic. I took the day off from work to be here, and will not re-schedule. Will try Sears service instead. The traffic is bad, but people do manage to go to work and do what they have to do. If you make a commitment to a potential customer, it should be kept, unless there is an emergency. This is the 2nd negative experience I've had with services recommended on Angie's List. Will probably be cancelling my subscription, not much point to it.

Description of Work: Immediately told us they could not correct the problem, but gave us the name of a company that could. Was this worth $89 service call? Absolutely not. Settled for $65. The person who set up the service call told me that the tech would definitely be able to correct the problem.

Description of Work: This company was quick to return my call to schedule this first visit to see what was wrong with my microwave but it was downhill from there. A tech came to my house and was here about 5 minutes. He simply put a cup of water in the microwave and tried to heat it and stated I needed a magnetron. I had researched and found that there are several different things that could be the problem but he did not bother to check further. They said they would call me later that day with a price for the part and repair. They did not call so I had to call and leave a message. The receptionist called and said John would call me first thing in the morning-still no call. I called at 11:30 and the receptionist said she would call him and call me back-still no call. Later in the afternoon I called again and she said she had a price.. She said the part was 189 and labor would be 125, so over 300 for the repair or I could pay them 375 for a new microwave! I told her I had already researched the price of the part and that I could buy it on Amazon for 95, I found the parts on the GE site for less and many other sites! I asked if I could buy the part (new in box) and have them install it and she said she would check with John. I also asked for him to call because I was a bit upset that the tech did nothing to check my microwave except heat water. She said she would have him call to answer my questions. Of course, he didn't call, he had the receptionist call again to say no about the part she was very snappy and tried to make excuses for the poor quality of service by saying they were a small. I was really disappointed in the quality of service and I felt like the price was over the top. I could replace my own microwave for an equal type for less than 300 and the prices for the parts were all over the Internet for much less. Come on, charge me for the labor but don't try and make money on the parts too! I am not writing a negative review just because I didn't like a price; I am an educated consumer and I simply research so I don't get taken advantage of. My experience with JB Appliance was one of the worst I have had with appliance repair.

Description of Work: JB Appliance Repair most recently came out to replace our ice maker. We have been using JB's for years.

Description of Work: Called for repair of a gas dryer, but found after replacing parts, dryer would still not function properly. Used his connection and obtained a hard to find gas dryer and sold it to me for his cost. He deducted from total price cost of servcie call and any labor performed due to inability to repair old unit. Very professional crew and even came out on a weekend to install and insure my wife had an operable unit for washing and drying. It was a pleasure to deal with someone who considered the customer first.

Description of Work: Within 24 hours of contacting the company, the serviceman/owner came to repair my dishwasher. After troubleshooting, a filter was clogged and broken. It was a minor break so he cleaned and did a temporary fix so I could continue to use it. Then, he ordered a new part for it to be fixed correctly. Even though he made two service calls to my home, he only charged me for one overall repair fee.

Description of Work: John cleaned and fixed my gas range. Most burners were not working and the handles were loose. He looked at my broken wine fridge.

Description of Work: My washer was leaking water out on to the floor. John came and immediately diagnosed the problem as a leaking water pump. He also found a badly corroded inlet valve on its last legs. He replaced both and in the process, moved the washer and dryer out and thoroughly cleaned the nasty area behind. He replaced the two washer water hoses ("on general principles") at no charge. He also found a crimped dryer hose which he repaired at no charge. He then moved on to quickly repair a non-working ice maker in the fridge.
