Contracted once, contracted twice, and will contract again………….. We built our home in 2007. Many of the offered upgrades were omitted in efforts to minimize the mortgage, and the decision was made to complete custom work at a later date. With three children in various stages of post graduate degree completion – we now find ourselves in 2014. In February we contacted Gould Construction for a renovation bid. Carl met us at our home, acknowledged goals, entertained wishes, and realistically offered guidance. Our list included renovation of a laundry suite, framework, solid surface construction, interior paint, electrical reassignment, extensive tiling, drywall repair, and crown molding application. Shortly after I received an itemized bid, and collaboratively with Carl designed a plan of completion. The rules of engagement were workmanship, professionalism, trustworthiness, and working with my schedule in healthcare. Carl provided us with a written timeline. In moving forward, we were witness to talented craftsmen leading us to satisfaction for a job well done. As life has it, in April our mother / in-law passed away, leaving us in need of pre-market renovation of her home. Carl’s team at Gould construction stepped up to the contract, installing new carpet, repairing tile, painting the interior, pressure washing, redesigning the lawn, repairing the irrigation system, and completing final clean up. The team was respectful to our family during this difficult time. Start to completion was approximately two weeks. With the home move-in ready, we listed with a local realtor, and on market day #1 - received a full price contract. The job went as planned and we are thrilled with the results. My husband and I had built a house with LIfestyle Homes in Levanto (in Viera) where Carl was the superintendant. I was so impressed with his work ethics and professionalism, that I called him to do the renovation on the older house we just bought for retirement. His price wasn't the lowest, but it was right in the middle-- and his timeline to get the job done was months ahead of the other contractors. In the end, however, his price ended up coming in much less than any of the others that bid for the job. His bid included every possible thing he knew we would need, including a portapotti and re-sodding the side of the house where the contractors would be transporting material. The other bids didn't include any of that, and I liked that there would be no suprises. Carl was on the phone with me daily, often three times a day, letting me know what was scheduled to happen that day and for the next week. He is completely obsessive about the budget and keeping eveything on track For the window replacements throughout the house, I said a double paned aluminum window would be sufficient, but Carl said the double paned vinyl windows were such a huge improvement on the aluminum ones that he would pay the difference just to see me put in a better quality window. And he did. I added some work along the line, asking the electrician to install two outlets in the garage, asking the irrigation guy to do some work, etc...because Carl has such a long standing relationship with the contractors I got prices that were below normal. He has a policy of transparency so that he shows you what everyone is charging for the job and what he is making. If any of the work comes in below that price, he takes it off of his total. Although I added some work, some other areas came in below budget, so I ended up paying quite a bit less than the contract price in the end. Throughout the remodel, Carl remained professional, insistings on calling us Mr. and Mrs, even though I call him Carl. He only does a few jobs a year, so he gives all his attention to your job. As you might guess from the long review, I highly recommend Gould Construction.
