As best I can tell, all they did was load FREE virus protection on my computer. It was returned to me within 24 hours but remained slow, same processing errors, etc. Basically - the laptop appeared to be as slow as it was before. A total waste of $169 - I wish I had just put that towards a new laptop. Sadly, they were recommended to us by a friend.
Description of Work: Slow processing laptop sent in to increase speed, reduce processing errors.

Let me begin by saying this review is about the Merritt Island Store on 520 across from Big Lots with the same name which is associated with the Melbourne store. My laptop had slowed way done after downloading a large quantity of pictures. The store is located on Highway 520 across from Big Lots. Upon entering you will see a collection of used dusty computers, a few musical instruments, and a large bird cage complete with bird and bird poop. It took sometime for a person to come out from the curtain?I was told they would take a look and get back to me. They assumed that it was viruses and explained the two choices. After 2 days I heard back that I needed a new hard drive. I stated that I would only invest the money for a new hard drive if they could transfer all the old data and software. I was assured that it would be exactly the same as when i dropped it off. When I went to pick it up I was told that the clone didn't work, so I lost all my software. I asked , "why they did not call me and tell me this before they proceeded??? No answer.I lost all my software, they did manage to retain my documents, etc. When I got home the wifi didn't work, so i took it back. The guy started talking about my router before he even looked at it. I explained that it was not my router as i had three other computers connecting fine. Bad service, bad communication, snooty tech. Stay as far away from these jokers as possible. If the Melbourne store is affiliated with this store, you need to take another look at their operation!!!!
Description of Work: Computer hard drive replaced.

Response from Computer Care Clinic
Dear Member, Please accept my most sincere apologies for any misunderstanding that occurred between you and our technicians at our Merritt Island facility. It is of the utmost importance that each and every one of our clients is completely satisfied with our work and efforts. There are many reasons why we’ve been voted “Best of Brevard” several years in a row, mainly because our reputation is very important to us. We have spoken with Dan Ellis, the owner of our Merritt Island franchise, and discussed your situation and how we may be able to resolve this to your satisfaction. I understand that your old hard drive was unable to be cloned. This is an unfortunate yet common situation, where the damage to certain sectors of the hard drive containing critical Windows operating system files prohibits a successful clone. During the cloning process, there are no warnings that the clone will not be successful, so we too won't know the outcome until the process has completed. Fortunately, all of your photographs and data were recovered. Occasionally, this is not possible if the hard drive is too badly damaged. Most computer repair facilities charge extra for this service, if the service is even available. We include this in our hard drive installation fees, which if you call around, you will find this is an incredibly generous offer. Here’s what we can do for you, all at no charge: 1. If you still have your old hard drive, our Melbourne facility will utilize a fairly new method of data retrieval, where we can attempt to temporarily repair bad sectors on the old hard drive and retry the clone to one of our hard drives. We are still beta testing this technique and have had some success with it where other methods of data retrieval and cloning have failed. If it is successful, we would then be able to re-clone this image to your computer. Please note that any new files that you have worked on since you received your computer will have to be backed up first, and then copied back. 2. If you are currently satisfied with the state of your new operating system and programs, we would be happy to issue a $100 credit to your account for any future work at any Computer Care Clinic location. Give us another try. I’ll bet you’ll be pleased with our work, just like our other six thousand Brevard County customers are. Please don’t hesitate to call me, or email chuck@computercareclinic.com at your convenience if you would like to discuss this situation. Our main telephone number is 321-733-6667. I am available from Monday through Thursday, 9:30 – 5:30. Again, please accept my most sincere apologies for any misunderstandings. These computers can be wonderful tools when they work, and incredibly frustrating when they go down! Sincerely, Chuck Graudins CEO, Computer Care Clinic
