RIVER TREE BUILDERS INC

We decided to put an addition on our home because one of our parents were going to move in with us. Since we have a small lot with a pool, we needed to add on to the front. We also had a side courtyard that was wasted space. We wanted to build a room on the side for a sitting room and a storage closet. Since there was a house in a nearby community that recently had an addition put on, one day I turned into the street to look at the house. A friend told me the builder was River Tree builders. Another house on the same street was in the process of having construction done; also by River Tree builders. These properties were worth about twice as much as ours. After having a different company (the Three Stooges) put up a wall in the garage a few years back, we wanted to make sure this extensive project was going to be done right. We met with the owner of River Tree Builders (Barry Richardson) and told him what we needed. He was professional, nice, a good listener, and you could tell by talking with him that he could do this project, use the right people, and get it done right. We didn't call other builders; we didn't get other estimates. We went by word-of-mouth, common sense and intuition. We also needed major repairs on our flat, Mansard style roof. The construction began around June 2014 (it took me a year to write this-sorry), and by October, 2014, we had a new foyer, new rooms, and new front entrance. You wouldn't be able to guess where the old, small foyer with the seven foot ceiling was. I don't know how they did it (and I was here!), but with the existing front door coming out, and a new one in a new area going in, we were still able to lock up every night. We lived in the house during the construction. We were flexible, easygoing, and accepted that this is how we will live during the construction. We pretty much lived in the back of the house for a while. Everyone associated with River Tree builders was professional, clean, friendly, and trustworthy. I could leave whenever I needed, and never worried about who was in my home. They even watched out for my cats, who weren't allowed outside. Everyone's attention to detail was superb, and offered expert advise to us.They handled many repairs, re-built damaged shower "pits" (showers with a ridiculous step to get down to the shower), removed a fireplace, raised ceilings and more. I was able to show a catalog picture of a closet feature to the head carpenter (I didn't want closet doors in my sewing room) and he built it. We stressed to Barry Richardson that we really "use" our house, and needed a practical and working home. One of the things we appreciated the most was that Mr. Richardson didn't try to talk us into upgrades and splurges that weren't in our budget. We never felt pressured to "go bigger". We always knew what they were going to do, when they were coming, and what we were supposed to do. There were no long gaps with nothing going on. They started; they worked; they got it done-and it was a huge project. If you have extensive work done on your flat roof so it's not flat, expect a leak or two during the process, if there is a huge downpour. (That's why you're doing it in the first place). River Tree builders have "A" ratings on their reviews because they deserve them. They handled the little issues that came up expertly- every house has them. We would use them again, and no one else. This was a very positive event in our lives to look back on- thanks to River Tree Builders.

It took approximately 4 months to be completed but well worth the time. The professionalism and quality was fantastic. I highly recommend them!

Barry and his team were excellent. They did outstanding work, where extremely professional, very talented and polite. They not only did an outstanding jobs, they had extensive experience and where able to give us several ideas to make the final product something special. As you would expect, a job this big (5 months -$100k) would run into some "surprises". We were able to easily work through these "surprises" as Barry and his team have excellent communication skills - which includes listening. They also added great value based on their experience. I recommend River Tree without any reservations and plan to use them again.

Barry does the highest quality work. He is trustworthy, capable, knowledgeable and easy to work with. He handled our project from start to finish and we are very pleased with the end result. Barry works with an excellent home designer who drew up the plans for our project, and he uses quality subcontractors who executed the remodeling. He was one of the few contractors who is set up for major remodeling and could handle the extensive nature of my job. The end result is beautiful and exactly what we had hoped for. Although he encountered several house defects along the way that required unexpected repairs, Barry and his subs were able to resolve the problems while still completing the redesign as we planned. I would highly recommend him.
