I cannot say enough about Martin Pools! If you're thinking about it - do it and go with Martin! We are so glad we chose them. We did LOTS of research and so happy we made the RIGHT choice! Mike was our Superintendent and he was amazing! Ask for him specifically if you can!!! He answered all of our questions without hesitation and made us feel comfortable asking questions, answering with professionalism and understanding. There was one day he didn't answer a text. Come to find out he was in the hospital with his appendix. And even still he answered the next day. Poor guy but he's so responsive and dedicated. He's a real professional and knowledgeable about his craft. He helped us get creative on things that we threw at him along the way and totally worked with us. Martin has this down to a science. It was so smooth we honestly were anticipating issues along the way. That was not the case. They did a couple of pools in our new development and everyone is pleased! We started Oct 18th and filled our pool with water on March 16th, a month ahead of schedule. We were lucky with mild weather during the fall/winter season but there were a couple of days when rain put them behind but we hardly noticed. We're pretty patient people so we just let them do their thing and didn't worry too much about it. Plus you get updates along the way to keep you informed. One thing that did go wrong was the screen wire popped off but when I called to notify Mike he was already aware of it and was on it before I even said anything. And I honestly can't think of any other issues! The ladies at the office were awesome and called about weekly with updates. And Jordan was the master behind designing our pool, he was the coolest! And efficient. He also worked with us and our crazy imaginations and helped bring them to life while still keeping things realistic and being upfront with us. The process was easy peasey. I was super surprised that I only had to put $1K down. That gave me faith in their financial health of their company compared to others I was worried about. I paid them in portions so it lowered the blow of the total cost, lol. Lastly they work with Melissa, the Mosaic Lady who helped us with a beautiful mermaid and turtle mirage tile installation which we are so happy with. They even came back out to fix a minor tile preference for me without hesitation. Highly recommend her too if you want to get your free tile or to just look at her options. You must take her tour, she's really to cool!
Description of Work: If we ever move we will use them again. Hands down the best and we won't go with anyone else now that we've experienced their work.

Our second pool experience with Martin started out as a B and has turned into a D. The pool itself (the shell) is good so far after 18 months. The problem has been the deck prep and the deck itself. The first issue with the deck was an error on the acrylic spray deck in which we ordered (noted on contract) we want a tile pattern which was missed in the end. This was not that big of a deal for us. The major issue was the 3' deck surrounding the pool and one end sinking and inch below the coping creating a dangerous edge. They patched the edge, building up the edge to be even with the coping at about the 7-8 month mark. Since then the deck has continued to sink for roughly 30-35 linear feet with he lowest point about an additional inch. There is also a corner (L-shaped pool) where the ground has disappeared for what seems to be at least a 10-12 square feet (don't know the extent yet). Martin GM did inspect the pool and said they would come seal the edge that is sinking so grass will not grow in between as it is now, but not fix the actual problem. Martin did compact the ground for half a day but clearly this was not enough. When you hire a company they should know what it takes engineering wise to ensure what they are constructing last the test of time. Regardless if the soil on beachside is mostly sand, then more solid dirt/fill should be used to fill in around the shell to ensure the deck doesn't sink. The real fix is to remove the sinking deck area, add solid fill, re compact or add footers, and repour. Martin said they would not do this. Bottom line, look for another pool company that will stand behind their work and do the right thing. And find one that if they make a mistake - and it does happen - will fix it.
Description of Work: Martin pools has built two pools for me, one in 2006 and one in 2014. The 2006 experience was A+ primarily because of the project leader Robert ensuring everything was done 100% right. This led me to return to Martin for our second pool and discovered it was a different Martin Pools.

When I came from work I called there and I told them and obviously they recognize what is going to happen she said okay we will put your chemicals in like a brand new pool, they did and when it was full they came in next day and two days later my pool was drained, I didn't call them back because I don't want to stay with them because they are not nice people. They are not responsible. I would probably not use them again.
Description of Work: I used Martin Pools & Spas about six months ago in October 2014. They did come out to fix something on my pool and they actually made an error and practically almost drained my complete pool which is a big no no. You are not supposed to let your pool water drain all the way down.

They started off good. The way that pool companies work is, they get the bulk of their pay after the tank is poured (meaning the concrete portion of the pool). They subcontract a lot of their work. When they poured the concrete they did not follow the correct plans for the pool and they had to come back and add cement to the steps and remove a step. Throughout the building process, there was no one coming and checking on the subcontractors... there was no quality control. They installed the filter on the cement pad and installed it hanging half way off the pad. At Christmas time, my pool was almost complete; however they advised that they take two weeks off for the holiday. This was not advised up front when I signed my contract, nor was it in my contract. Of course I wasn't happy about that and the woman from Martin Pools said she was going to send someone else over to clean up the mess that was all over my yard. At that time there was a large pile of dirt on the side of my yard. Whoever who she sent over ended up spreading the dirt all over my yard including my back yard. This maneuver ended up killing a lot of my grass. I had also been charged an additional $350.00 to sand blast the existing paint off of my patio before the acrylic coating was applied. When I came home, I noticed that my patio had not been sand blasted before they applied the acrylic coating. When I mentioned this to them, they stated that it wasn’t necessary and that they would credit me the $350.00. I would like to say that initially when they told me about needing to sand blast my patio, they stated that it was necessary in order for the seal coat to adhere properly and that it would eventually peel if the paint that was on my patio wasn’t sand blasted off. Then in January 2014, when they were coming to complete the project, I had to call them twice to re-grade my yard because there was so much dirt still left that my landscaper was not able to lay our new sod down. I had gotten 3 estimates from landscapers and all 3 of them had stated how bad Martin Pools had destroyed my yard. It took 9 pallets of grass to repair my yard. I complained to Martin Pools about me having to pay for the cost to repair my yard and he offered me a $75.00 credit. Since January, anytime that we have had a storm, my existing porch floods. The water is half way up my porch and worries me that it may flood my house. When they installed the screened porch, the gutter carrying all of the rain water from the roof, drains in the same location that the pool is supposed to drain in, but because the yard was still not graded properly and the yard is higher than the pool deck, all of that water retrogrades back in to my porch area. I contacted Martin Pools and their foreman came to my house and offered to attach a pipe and lay it on top of my grass and just leave it there. I told him that was unacceptable to me because it was unsafe and an inappropriate fix. At that time, he told me that Martin Pools is not responsible for drainage. I have contacted the office of Code Enforcement and the supervisor there has come to my house and he stated that he sees a problem and he himself contacted Martin Pools. Martin pools still refuses to fix it. I am going to further pursue this issue.
Description of Work: I purchased and had them install an in ground pool with deck and screened in enclosure.

2006. The pool was supposed to be installed and ready for use in June of 2006. We were in Iowa at the time. We were informed by Martin Pools that it was done and they got payment in full. When we got down there, the pool was not finished. It was full of junk and trash. The back yard was tore to pieces. when they installed the pool and was never made right again. The pool was finally finished in September of 2006. The pool had several leaks in it and Martin Pools would never fix them. We finally hired someone to come in and fix the leaks in the summer of 2012. We figured it was a lost cause to try to deal with Martin Pools. We have already replaced the heaters and pumps. started.
Description of Work: We hired Martin Pools to install a swimming pool and spa in our back yard. They were supposed to install the pool and spa, install pavers around the pool and spa and screen them in. They were supposed to return the yard to the condition it was in before they started.
