Horrible experience.
Description of Work: They needed to fix my computer. But they were deceitful and never bothered to tell me that they don't work on hardware. Pushed me in Geek Squad Protection which I did not need.

We returned a computer to Best Buy. We bought it there and then we took it back. They actually exchanged it, which worked out better for us. It was new; it was only a few weeks old so we brought it back in and got a different one. We wound up getting a more expensive computer, but that was our choice. That was a pain because you know, you don't want to have to go through that. The whole exchange thing went pretty smoothly overall. It wasn't difficult to get them to agree to the exchange, so that was the main thing, they agreed to do it and it went pretty smoothly. They gave us a ticket and then we just took it over and picked out the other computer. We happened to pick out one that was more expensive, so we had to pay a little bit more but that was our choice. I would say I didn't want the thing to stop working in the first place, but that's on the manufacturer. It was under warranty. For price, we looked around online and it seemed in line. We could have probably done a little bit better, but I don't know how much. Then you have to have the hassle of looking more and more instead of just buying it.
Description of Work: We bought the computer there and then the microphone and the speakers stopped working, so we exchanged it for a different one.

He was extremely careful, thorough and patient. Comcast just recycles cable boxes and, of course, one of them was not functioning. And, when, a few days later, the other one went bad, he came back and re-did that job WITHOUT charging us for another call. I think that is the definition of exceptional service and kindness. `

I was informed to contact tech support thru email. Refusing to reimburse my parents for the $100.00 worth of house calls.
Description of Work: I am writing to issue a formal complaint regarding my parents Geek Squad service; my brother purchased a new wireless Toshiba laptop on 6/27/2014, along with the software he purchased hardware a new HP Wireless Printer Office Jet 4630. He purchased the Geek Squad service bundle 1 year warranty at $100.00 and additional Geek Squad 1 year Tech support Plan at $99.00 The tech came to the house to set up the wireless network and install all the software and hardware and educate them for $49.99, then two or three days later came back to “educate” for an addition $49.99. This past week I was visiting my parents and my father explained that his printer was not working and has not worked, in reviewing the computer; I found that the install on the HP Printer was not complete and had to be re-installed and configured to their wireless network. His computer printer was configured for a “Mac” computer. I completed this for my parents and proceeded to call the Geek Squad Manager at the Best Buys store in Melbourne Florida. In addition, my father requested that the tech “enlarge” the print and icons on the screen, in which the tech stated that is as big as it can be, another lie, who maximized the print and icons in “display”, me again. So educate, yes that tech really educated my parents, on how to be taken advantage of. I spoke to the manager "Chase" who told me through reading the tech notes that the calls were “education calls” and all the work was completed and that he should have called them sooner, to resolve the printer issue. I stated to Chase that my father is 87 and was not going to call again to be charged an addition $49.99 for them to come to the house. He was under the impression that since he paid for the Geek Squad service at $100.00 and the additional tech support purchase $99.00 that he was covered until he found out that each service call to the house cost him $49.99. I requested that my parents be reimbursed his two previous charges because the work was not completed correctly. He stated it was to long ago and would not reverse the charges. But had the nerve to ask if there was anything he could assist with now. I told him unless he planned on taking care of my parents there was nothing he could do to help me or them and I would assist them from here on out. If everything was done correctly, I should not have had to re-install his printer, also you all know as well as I do, there is no way an 87 year old can work with a tech support person on the phone, this aged population needs an individual to come to their home, not try to help them on the phone! They pay all this money for help and then get charged additionally for a home visit. My parents are on a fixed income and the charges that they incurred though your "protection plan" in my opinion was nothing but taking advantage of the elderly and I plan on letting everyone know, this will be posted on Angie's list and has been posted on Consumer Reports and Complaints as well as Face book accounts for Geek Squad & Best Buys.
