FLOWER BED CREATIONS

I watched three men work on the front bed in our yard which needed much work - spent almost 2 hours on this. I had to leave, but discussed the job with "Larry" and at this point, he felt it was larger than discussed so we discussed $800 and then, while gone, I received a call that they had run out of mulch and would drive from Vero to Melbourne to get another trailer full - they left by 2:30 for a new load. At his suggestion since I would be back after banks closed, bring cash so I picked up $800 in cash. I called "Larry" on his cell at 4:15 and said I was on the way home - he said he was on his way back from picking up a new load of mulch in Melbourne and should be there shortly - they arrived at 5:30 with the new load, but had to leave by 6:15 due to summer storms - trailer was still full of mulch. They were due at 8:00 the next morning but arrived at 9:30 because "they had to stop for breakfast." Again, knowing that I had to leave for a critical appointment, they lagged until I had to push to obtain the final bill. Paid another $554 to Steve Marcellis by check and left with the promise that they would finish and clean it up. Upon returning several hours later, they were gone but the pool deck was messy, most beds were not racked first, new mulch was not 2 - 3" thick,it was put up against the house which I had asked them not to do due to instructions from the bug man. The only excellent job was the front bed that I watched from the window while working on the computer [they could see me], threw mulch over leaves & weeds inside & back beds, cut back a bird of paradise that I discussed with Larry and only "chopped" down the stems half way making a real mess of the plant (one that I am going to have to address myself to make it presentable), knocked over some small pots in the beds and did not upright them, mulched over river rock areas that had been specified as not to mulch and then "accidentally" took our wheelbarrow (called Steve and he was surprised and has promised to return it). Total man hours they used - 24 at the most NOT counting their drive back and forth to Melbourne!! Far too much money for services not of the quality promised. If they had given me the quality they did on our front bed [that I watched], I would have been very pleased and not upset with the high cost.
