Description of Work: We were very pleased with the work and the explanation, education, etc. It was pricey, more so than any other bid we received, but we wanted to be sure to get very high-quality service and equipment and just felt that Durham would be able to provide both.

Description of Work: Conducts annual inspection and maintenance on HVAC they installed last year. They call to remind us it is time, sets up an appointment that is convenient and then shows up on time. Professional and friendly.

Description of Work: Received variety of solid alternative information at initial contact (for replacement of air conditioning unit in 3-bedroom condo); then received 3 separate specific quotes for the appropriate alternatives, with several discounts (including Angie's List); signed contract and picked out day of installation. On appointed day, team showed up, did the job over a full two-day period (with payment on completion) - polite, cooperative, informative and with minimal disruption. County inspector showed up the next day and approved everything. All's well, good price, excellent service, highly recommended.

They have recommended other good and reliable contractors for services that they could not perform. We now have a maintenance contract with them. Durham has become our "go to" contractor for many services!

Installers were polite, well mannered, and neatly dressed. Four month usage cost is as projected. I have contracted with Durham and Sons since 1982 and have never been unhappy with either their excellent work ethic or the quality of the product installed. |

Description of Work: They installed a new heating and cooling system in April 2014. Fabulous job. Yesterday they came do do the warranty check -up. I highly recommend this company. High quality work and very helpful office staff.

Description of Work: Honestly, nothing so far. We have contracted Durham and Sons to replace our entire heat pump system. The contract is for a top of the line Trane system plus a few extras. Their bid was not the least expensive, but the equipment is the best and they come highly recommended by associates. Everything so far has been very painless and stress free, and I'll update this after the job is complete.

Description of Work: Got a new A/C system including compressor and air handler. Durham & Sons does a great job installing the system properly, replacing everything that should be replaced (including copper and PVC, rebuilding the air handler stand with plywood (rather than slapping another piece of particle board over the old, crumbling piece of particle board that was there) and much more). They will also fix air handling issues in the house (my house was built with insufficient air return, so they increased the size of the return vent). I also had them install a new return in the master bedroom to allow us to close the bedroom door without it banging every time the A/C turns on or off. They also installed a new, larger homerun to the office to provide extra cooling to offset the heat produced by computers. They also sealed all the ducts in the attic (and because they're an FPL-certified contractor, I was able to receive the FPL rebate on the duct sealing work available after getting the A/C Duct Assessment from FPL.) | |Durham & Sons does not arrive at noon and finish the new install by 4, like many other A/C service companies. This is not a down side. I had neighbors comment that they must not have known what they were doing since it took 3 days to finish the install, but the truth is that Durham & Sons does everything that should be done whereas many other companies skip a lot. (One of my neighbors got a new A/C system a few months ago from a different company that did not replace the copper, and after 2 months the old copper blew and he had to call in a company to run new copper--which should have been done in the first place--and then recharge the system and ended up spending more than he would have had the system been installed properly and wouldn't have put the strain on the new system that results from depressurizing and repressurizing.) | |I had an A/C system installed at my last home by Durham & Sons and chose them for my new home specifically because of the quality of service I received before.

Description of Work: Sell you A....Deliver you B.....silly things like "french drains" that are supposed to be 2 feet of rock and turn out to be 4 inches on top of your dirt held in place by a 4 inch metal circle. Vents placed differently than agreed upon by help because "that is what I'm going to do regardless of what you were told". Still awaiting final inspection of the two units. We will fix the ducts and make sure it works means that we want $600.00 to do it after you have paid for the air conditioners and installation.

Description of Work: The house air conditioner died on Saturday and we called the office. The repair tech came out early Monday morning and the 17 yr old unit could not |be repaired. The owner of the company came out the same day and outlined the units that were available and did not push to have us buy the most expensive unit. Once we made our decision he had a tech bring us 3 window units to use until the new unit could be installed. One of the units was installed in the kitchen window and caused damage to the pass through self. The owner of the company came out to see what the damage was and a carpenter was sent out to replace the shelf that was damaged. The window unit was replaced by a unit that we put into the master bathroom that could drain into a bucket. The repair of the self was done quickly and they even ordered a laminate to match the counters in the kitchen. Payment for the unit was not due until the unit was installed and working. They even changed the ducts to allow the farthest rooms to get more cooling then they had from the old unit. The installing crew was polite and very professional. I would recommend using this firm and would call on them if we need any assistance with this in the future

Description of Work: They were called to diagnose problem of my AC running continuously. They came within hours of being called and conducted the most comprehensive diagnosis of my unit that I have ever experienced. The tech was a true professional that examined all relationships of the unit thoroughly, which most tech don't understand and found that the unit was running properly. It turned out that I had a duct that had blown off in the attic. I will soon be replacing my aged units and I will definitely be calling Durham and sons as these folks really know their profession.

Description of Work: They took out and replaced 2 separate A/C units. Very organized. First put |in window units so the house stayed cool during the 3 day work on the main house, and then put in window unit into secondary building when they replaced the secondA/C which took another 2 and 1/2 days. Technicians were very professional. We are very satisfied with our choosing of Durham & Sons and highly would recommend them.
