They are responsive are friendly. Both the air conditioning department and the electrical are good. We did get estimates for the re-do of our AC and found Durham and Son to be better

I had 13 estimates all by profession Air Conditioning professional contractors. every one stated they could not put the addional vents in the family room to balance the air. RJ was the only contracted who said he could do this. RJ Durham himself came to do the estimate, he spent 5 hours with us explaining everything. RJ was MORE than professional. His level of expertise is amazing. He was always available to answer all questions without hesitation. The Service professionals (Troy & Matt) were wonderful. These are 2 employees who enjoy what they do. They are well educated in their job. They did a perfect installation & did not leave until we knew how to work everything. They cleaned up everything & used cloths to protect our property. They displayed integrity & honesty & I had no problm leaving them in my home & attending to other duties. They showed a sense of excitement in the knowledge they have, something you never see today. Durham & Son's brings me back to what service used to be. This is by far the best company I have ever done business with. The amount listed as spent was before all rebates & tax credits.

I called to make an appt for an annual service call on my home A/C system and received an appt within 2 days. I thought that was very responsive considering we were in the ?busy time? of the year. The appt was between 8am - 1pm; the techs arrived around 12 pm. They immediately began troubleshooting and found several leaks in the 14-year old evaporator coils. I inquired if it could be repaired and they said it was not cost effective to repair and recommended it be replaced. The techs called and said there was a coil in stock and would cost $950. I asked the technician while he was on the phone with the service manager, if they could provide a military discount, he said they would take off $75 . While one tech went to the warehouse to retrieve the new coil, the other removed the old one. However there was a problem, the inventory was incorrect and there was not one in the warehouse. When the technician returned to the house, he apologized and offered to reinstall the old coil. I told him not to bother as we could use fans for the night. They said they would be at the house around 2:30pm to install the new coil. The next day I waited until 4:00pm and had not been contacted, so I called. They said that there was a delivery problem and the part would not arrive until tomorrow. I was a bit upset that the office had not called to let me know what was going on?I thought they should have been more proactive in keeping the customer informed. They we apologetic and again offered to come install the old coil until the new one came in?again I declined ? however I did suggest that an additional discount would be nice. The scheduler said that if she had not called me by 12 pm to give her a call. I called her just after 12 pm asking the status. She said that the coil did indeed arrive and she would have the technician out there around 1 pm; he arrived around 1:40pm and installed it quickly and did a professional job. When he was finished I asked what the total was, and he said it was $875 the same price as the first day (with the $75 discount). I paid him and let the technician know that I had expected a little more of a discount as I was 2 days without A/C and had not been promptly informed when the status of the coil changed (delivery didn?t happened as planned) on the second day of service. He said he was sorry and didn?t make those decisions.. Shortly I got a call from the office manager who said she had heard that I wasn?t happy with the cost of the service. I explained to her the situation about waiting for the coil and not being promptly informed and I felt I had saved the company money by not having them come back out to install the old coil when the new one didn?t arrive as expected. She gave me an additional 10% off.- I was thankful. The techs were professional and courteous. I appreciated the office manager understanding my situation and applying an additional discount. I would recommend and use Durham & Sons again.

Excellent experience. Durham was 1 of 3 estimates that we received to replace a 15 year old Trane system. R.J. Durham did an end to end inspection of the 15 year old Trane system including climbing in the attic of our 30 year old house. R.J. Durham recommended that we replace the existing inside panel and the outside main box in addition to the work that would need to be done for the ac/heating unit. Durham's estimate was the highest of the three we received but also the most detailed. This detailed estimate and the fact that he really looked at the house/unit rather than just write something up, helped us make up our mind and Durham was our choice. They pulled all necessary permits and all work was performed on the scheduled days. The crew worked well together and were as nonintrusive as possible working inside and out during a particularly rainy couple of days in March. R.J. Durham came by each day and checked on the progress. When all work was complete to our satisfaction, R.J. still found a couple of items on his final walk through. These were taken care of within a day or two. I would not hesitate to recommend Durham and Sons for any AC/Heat or Electrical project.

I contracted with the owner R.J. and found him to be professional, knowledgeable and delivered as promised. I was impressed that he thoroughly inspected (he crawled though the entire attic) the installation and duct repair to ensure it was performed to his promise and standards. He caught a couple of duct repair issues that I would not have noticed and also promptly corrected a couple of concerns I raised.

They arrived promptly and were not only professional, but also very friendly. They thorougly explained the job before getting started and gladly answered all my questions. Beyond the great work they did installing the new system, it was also the little things they did that were also appreciated. These guys go the extra mile to make sure you're satisfied. The tech was on time, courteous, friendly and professional. The work was done in a timely manner with all possibilities for a fix action considered. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends.

From my first contact with RJ until the work was completed by Troy & Josh. It was a very positive experience. They arrived on time and cleaned up when done. i hardly knew they were there. They were friendly but , also, professional. I would use this company again and have no trouble recommending them.

One of my GFI outlets was "sparking" any time I would try to reset it. Also my dishwasher was not turning on. I called Durham & Sons in the morning and two workmen responded that same morning. They inspected the GFI outlet, and found this recently installed outlet was installed incorrectly and was effecting the dishwasher circuit as well. They also determined that two circuit breakers in my electrical panel were faulty. They replaced the GFI outlet and added another one (which was also on the kitchen counter and close to the sink), rewired and repositioned some circuit breakers in my electrical panel and removed two burnt out and unused circuit breakers, and checked that everything was in working order and cleaned up after themselves as well. The courtesy and professionalism shown while doing the work was a very pleasant experience and the cost was, in my opinion, very reasonable.

As RJ had written in the proposal, all work was completed in a timely manner. The crew was very professional and responsible. The knew what had to be done and worked until all worked was completed, even staying later than normal hours of operation. RJ gave us what was promised and more. Weeks after out change out, I needed to call RJ after hours and he was extremely helpful. This to me is what is most important when choosing a company to do work on your home. I will use Durham and Sons again and would highly recommend them.

I am a very demanding and involved home owner, who researches each purchase entirely. RJ Durham was very complete in his evaluation, testing, and recommendations. The professionalism of RJ and his installation team, the quality of the installation and workmanship, and post-installation follow-up was outstanding. The quote was very competitive. Manufacturer rebates and the government tax credit reduced the cost by about $3500. I recommend this contractor highly.

The overall quality of the workmanship stood out to me. I have been satisfied with the final product. They were on time and willing to talk with me.

It went outstanding. The workers were true professionals and cleaned up after each day. The owener J stopped by on a continual basis to insure that the work was performed properly. After the system was installed he checked to insure it done up to specs and went over the whole system with me. The two young gentlemen that installed the system were very cordial and knew what they were doing. An excellent company and work crew.

I received about a half dozen bids, all from companies that were recommended or had good reviews. I was warned that Durham had a reputation for top quality work as well as high cost. And indeed the owner, R.J., had me sit through a meticulous presentation and was the most thorough of all. He was the only one who went into the attic, measured rooms and went the extra mile in sorting through what turned out to be very complicated tax credits and rebates. There was no doubt that Durham was thorough and professional, but the shocker was that they were also the best price for the best unit. RJ also made it work out with rebates and deadlines and even upgraded me to a Trane from a York when York dropped the ball. Even though RJ worked with me to get a great price/value when all the rebates & tax credits were set up, that was actually the beginning of the story. This was the most professional & competent team I'd ever encountered. They took what everyone else said was a 1 day job and turned it into 3 days. They provided a temporary unit that kept us comfortable the entire time. The level of perfectionism employed was a marvel to watch. The crew even took photos of their work when done for their portfolios - these guys are proud of what they do and it shows. I never thought of an AC unit as a beautiful thing, but these guys rebuilt the foundation for the unit, coated it, made it something to actually admire. Aesthetics aside, the quality was absolutely tops. They added an extra intake and enlarged another duct and just went the extra mile at every turn. I am absolutely confident that none of the other companies would've come close to the level these guys went to. NOW I understand why RJ insisted I view his powerpoint presentation and see photos of their work. It really is a cut above, and I feel like I got Lexus at a Toyota price. Absolutely go with Durham.

When the CEO of a company comes out and climbs through the attic to check your current system, you know you have found the right company. RJ Durham did the initial inspection himself and gave various options for repairing current system or installing new system. He was involved throughout the process and made several visits to the site. Durham and Sons' workers were on time, diligent, respectful, and helpful. They did an exceptional job removing our old system and installing the new Heat Pump. When the work was completed, RJ did the final inspection, created a punch list, and insisted on both perfection and complete customer satisfaction. You cannot go wrong with this company. We could not be more pleased and recommend that you meet RJ Durham if you are considering repair of your current AC/Heating system or replacing your system with a new one. You won't be disappointed!

They were very prompt, professional and responsive. They communicated well and they gave me another copy of the receipt as I had lost the original one. They had to come out the second time to do some other work and they did not charge me for their time. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service.

Very professional service. My only complaint is they were very late and did not call -- had to call them to find out that schedule had been changed.

excellant. RJ of Durham (owner) came out and was by far, the most professional and knowledgable of all the contractors who bid the job. I total of 6 companies bid, RJ being the only one who even went up into the attct to inspect the duct work. The other guys all said, " yeah, we'll fix the ducts", with no idea of manhours needed. So, how could they properly bid the job. RJ did all the flow calculations and they were checked during the install. All flows were verified after the installation to assure no problems. The price was not the cheapest quote, but for the work they did, it probably was the best deal in the area. Took 1 week to do all the work. The other guys all quoted about 2 days. Thus shows the amount of effort put into this job. RJ came back to fix 2 minor items without complaint.
