Description of Work: Replaced our entire AC unit. They poured a new slab, removed our old units and installed new, top of the line equipment. They showed us how to get the best performance out of the equipment and came back to seal the ducts once we found out that needed to be done as well.

Description of Work: My A/C ducts had developed serious leaks in the ceiling and were approximately 50 years old. I contacted FPL and 2 other companies for quotes of work that needed to be done. RJ , with Durham & Sons checked all of the inside vents,outside A/C unit and was very thorough in identifying some issues as he walked through. He knew his business and what was required to do a great job over the other companies.He just seemed more professional. He even found a hidden vent in my kitchen that other companies that provided quotes didn't locate. When Tyler and Clayton pulled out all of the deteriorated and existing duct work in the attic, they kept up with cleaning any messes they made each day. Both young men were pleasant and congenial to have working in my home. They were also understanding about not upsetting or disturbing my indoor cats. After all the work was completed RJ walked through the house and made sure that all that he had promised was done to his specifications. I found that Tyler and Clayton, and RJ had integrity which is important. They had a good work ethic, good attitudes, and cared about doing the job properly.

But I still have a slight water leak that is waiting for repairs on my furnace pipe... But I was assuered that it is going to be fixed .. Durham and son was complete about there work and cleaned up after the days they worked as I tried to keep my pets out there work area very nice and polite.....

Description of Work: We purchased a home that had an older water-cooled (from a well) air conditioning system that cooled/heated the second floor. After many service calls to try to keep it running, we determined that we wanted to replace it with a traditional heat pump system. We considered 3 companies regarding the replacement and received a sales presentation and cost estimate from RJ Durham and one other that is highly rated on Angie's List. We were very impressed with both presentations and the cost estimates were very comparable, but we ultimately decided to use Durham. The new installation required two very large components to replace one unit with the old system. It also involved running wires and pipes from the air handler inside the garage, across the ceiling, along a side wall and out through the opposite side to the heat pump that had to have a new concrete pad installed for the placement. This involved work by an electrician and two installers.

Description of Work: Durham and Sons installed a 5 ton central heat and air conditioner, heat pump style, in our home. We chose them on recommendation by a long-experienced professional in the construction field who had recommended Durham to my mother about four years ago. They did an excellent job on her very difficult installation, and it works beautifully, so we were confident in Durham. Our installation was done in a precise and careful manner, promptly and courteously. The system had a problem due to the manufacturer but Durham worked with amazing dedication and cheerful attitude on an immediate fix. It is working beautifully now and we are extremely pleased. Cost savings on operation vs. our old system are already evident. We would most certainly use them again and recommend them to anyone who wants a job they can truly rely on.

Description of Work: I am a 52 year old professional who recently relocated from PA to Indialantic, FL. We decided to rent on the beach until we decide where we want our next permanent home. Unfortunately the air conditioning system in our rental townhome was not functioning properly when we moved in. I contacted Durham & Sons based on their reviews in Angies List. As it turned out the entire A/C unit needed replaced for a ~ $3700 repair. That repair was done, the invoice was paid by the townhome owner and everything seemed fine. However, over the next several months my entire family started having nose bleeds and breathing problems. I called to explain that to Durham & Sons but was told it was not their problem and they would not even come to check their installation unless the owner called as that was their "policy". Instead they recommended I call a duct cleaning service. So I did. The duct cleaning service advised me that the problem could be a variety of different issues but in their professional opinion, the most likely culprit was too low humidity which could be related to the air conditioning installation, sizing, etc. They were shocked that Durham & Sons were not standing behind their product just installed 3 months prior and recommended that the first thing I do is call D&S again. They knew the D&S owner, RJ, and suggested he is not the type to respond that way. So I called again. This time was worse. The employee was demeaning and implied that they do not do business with tenants. I explained it was silly to route this through the owner as it is just a check of the system they just installed a few months before. Finally they agreed to have a service rep stop. That occurred promptly. The rep checked the air temperature and volume and noticed that the vent in the area that seemed most problematic for my family was extremely strong and colder than the others. He suggested it needed a control in the duct to reduce airflow or if that was not practical, that the end vent should be changed. I thanked him and he left about 1 hour after arrival. The next day the D&S office manager and partial owner called me and immediately stated that she called my townhome owner. I asked why on earth she felt that was necessary as I had informed D&S that I would take care of the situation. But she stated that is policy and she wasn't about to be stiffed by another tenant. Although the townhome owner informed her that it was fine for me to arrange services, she required him to tell her how much I was authorized to approve....etc.. It was the most demeaning experience in my 52 years. I highly recommend you STAY AWAY FROM DURHAM & SONS.

Description of Work: Eval/repair kitchen lights. Vince found dimmer switches to be defective. Replaced with standard switches at my request as I never use dimmers anyway. Kitchen is light and bright again. Only downside is that I can know see where I was not effective cleaning my kitchen! Courteous, on-time, professional service. I used this company approximately 8 months ago to replace a separate defective switch with the same outstanding service. Trust this company to provide honest, professional service. The only reason I downgraded the price was because I forgot to present the 10% off discount coupon...I could have save $16...DOH!!

He checked connections and mentioned other technical terms that he explained well to me, bought the bulbs that needed replacing the next day as per my convenience, and made all of them work. Description of Work: Our AC broke on a Friday night so they came and replaced the fan motor with a temporary one (at no charge) in order to allow us to have air while we waited for the parts stores to open. He then came on Monday and replaced our fan motor and fan board. The spending amount is approximate since I haven't gotten the bill yet but it is around 500.
