Description of Work: Installed hard wood laminate in full house. We had Steve do two bedrooms about 3 years ago and were totally satisfied. Wife has back problems, so contacted Steve to do balance of house with wood, rather than to have the ceramic tile that was there. It is much more resilient and her back problems are going away. Steve did a wonderful job and is very professional. Totally satisfied with all aspects of his work.

Description of Work: Accurate estimate of materials and labor needed for job. At the end of the job, we had less than one box of wood left over and were credited for excess glue that was not used. Supplies cost approximately $5,500 and labor $1,500. Coordination with supplier of materials, ProSource, and delivery of materials to home. Demolition of existing carpeting, disposal of refuse, cleaning and preparation of surfaces for new flooring. Ran moisture test on concrete slab to ensure proper adhesive used for conditions in the home. Installation of engineered hardwood in great room. Advised about do's and don'ts to preserve and protect our floors.

Description of Work: I contacted Better Hardwood Flooring in Nov 2012 based on their Angie's List rating. An immediate estmate was provided to me for flooring installation at my home that I found acceptable. After some time was spent looking for wood and fitting into their schedule requirements, an installation date was set for March 15, 3013. Since I had not received any proposed formal agreement from them, I used a software program (Family Lawyer) to generate a draft agreement, and provided it to them for review in early Feb 2013. They responded with their version of the agreement which differed in three significant regards from mine: Their version did not (1) certify that they had all necessary insurance, (2) were an independant contractor, nor (3) indemnify me for any damage or injuries caused by their acts or omissions while performing the work. On Feb 15,2013 their owner called to say that he did not want the job because he was bothered by 'all that legal stuff'. He may install a wonderful floor (I'll never know) but I lost lost three months of schedule time waiting on them, only to have them back out based on avoiding requirements that any professional organization should be willing to accept.

Description of Work: Had 10 boards warped due to water damage. Steve (Owner) and Shawn arrived at the time we had discussed, gave a very reasonable estimate, and completed the work immediately. Old boards were removed, slab scraped, new boards glued and replaced. The repairs were perfect...matched the original floor exactly! The repairs were completed within two hours and charge was exactly as estimated.

All three rooms cover about 450 square feet. The price I've noted is only the installation cost; it does not include the cost of the wood or glue.

Description of Work: Installation was made on 2 of our oceanfront townhouses. Prior to purchasing the wood the installer gave me excellent advice as to the type of wood that would wear well in an oceanfront environment. Installation was made on the time we had agreed upon and very punctual. The installer also advised me that the wood had to a acclimate to the home it is going to be installed in for about 5 days prior to installation. . Description of Work: We contacted the owner of BHF Steve Cook to provide an estimate for ripping out carpeting and installing hardwood floors in two hallways, living room, dinette and dining room. He also suggested where to purchase the hardwood. Steve and his crew came as scheduled but could not begin the installation because the concrete slab was not level. They spent 3 days pouring cement to level the floors. The following week they did the installation. Steve was very flexible with scheduling. The work was completed in 3 days. The floors are beautiful and the workmanship excellent. I am extremely pleased with the work. If I ever plan to have wood floors in my bedrooms, I will definitely use this company. The $1800 was the cost of labor for the hardwood installation. The leveling of the floors and the cost of the hardwood is not included.

Description of Work: Estimate for repairing hardwood floor due to water damage on first floor. Hardwood floor is glued down onto concrete slab. $45.00 an hour for intricate wood repair without having to rip up the whole room's floor where it was not water damaged. Had 3 rooms which needed a total of 375 square feet replaced. Each room had its own special needs while one room was a more simple rectangular area in which I have just repaired myself in one day. He estimated 3 to 4 eight hour days to make the repairs. If I were able to make all the intricate cuts myself Steve would have charged $2.00 a square foot to fix the wood. If I was going to make the cuts myself using a special vibrating multi purpose tool, I would continue finishing the job myself. A $1500 dollar job for labor only, not including glue and wood, was a lot for me to handle. I have two areas that now need fixed but my handyman will do it in 5 days at $125.00 per day. Steve Cook was as professional as they come. Prompt, honest, knowledgeable and concerned about my situation. I am sure the job would have been completed within his estimate and was courteous enough to tell me how to go about fixing the wood at a much lower price if I did the specialty work myself and called him after I performed that task for $2.00 a square foot. Class Act. If you can afford this guy I recommend him. I don't think his pricing was out of line for the job he had to handle, it is just too much for me when my handyman and myself can perform similar tasks with about the same outcome.

Description of Work: I found the contractor in the phone book, which I hate to do because you just never know who you are inviting into your home. I called for a free estimate to have the carpet removed and have wood flooring installed in the living, dining, kitchen, great room and hall. The estimate was free, as promised (two other companies from the phone book said 'free estimate' on the phone but wanted $20 & $25 for the estimate before they would measure the floor). He measured the floor and quoted a price for the removal of carpet and installation of the wood. His labor charges were better than the three other companies that came out but still comparable. I made an appointment to choose wood from his showroom. I was concerned he would have a small selection because he said he was a small local business and he was very inexpensive for the labor. The showroom was very large. He had a lot of wood to choose from. The people at the showroom were very helpful. They brought me right to flooring in the price range I wanted and didn't try to get me to spend more money that I originally asked for. I choose the wood and the wood was ordered and was supposed to arrive in two weeks. The wood came in one day earlier than promised. The day the wood came in, the same day, he arrived at my home to start the install. He finished when promised and I paid the exact estimated price.
