Replaced all the windows and one outside door with hurricane windows/door. Very satisfied with product and installation.I have smaller electricity bills and the house is much quieter.

I contracted with Absolute Storm Protection to install new doors (with a 10-year warranty) and windows in my townhouse. I paid half down ($16,000). Unbeknownst to me ASP ordered only the frames from Ventana, USA. They purchased their own glass and took a spray gun to the doors. When they were installed the paint was horrid and chipping off. The only way to fix the paint would be to somehow remove all the paint, powder coat them and repaint them. Another contractor estimated it would be about $2-3,000 per door to do that. The glass did not have the florida numbers on them because they were not rated doors, which I had specifically demanded to have and were not tinted as well as the windows. (The windows were factory made by Simonton and are great. Simonton sent me a lifetime warranty and stand by their product.) Upon researching I learned ASP is not licensed and not legal to install the doors. Their installation was awful and I had to pay another contractor to repair and hide their shabby construction. ASP refused to do anything other than to slap another coat of paint on the doors. The doors are bowed. They have been adjusted a number of times and continue to re-warp. The only way to lock the doors is to have someone on the outside push on the top and bottom of the door and have someone on the inside lock them. The handles are flimsy and and are breaking. One broke off within 30 days of the installation. I have written and telephoned Ventana numerous times about their 10-year warranty. They said they would send a new handle (but didn't) and offered to sell me their new painted frames for $7,000, supposedly their cost ($7000+). This required me to trust that the doors aren't bowed and the paint job is good, then to contract with someone to put the old subpar glass in them and install them. Plus it didn't seem right that they profited fully in the first transaction and then want me to pay them again for doors they were already paid once. They refused to refund even a dime of my money and said I would have to work with Absolute because I'm not their customer. ASP is definitely the worst culprit in this problem, but the Ventana doors are faulty. I am filing a review on both. Do not trust Ventana doors. They are cheap and Ventana's warranty is worthless unless you buy directly from them...assuming it is worth anything even that way. Absolute Storm Protection is illegally installing doors and windows, as I have been told by the county they are not licensed to do so anywhere in Florida. And the doors and windows don't pass Florida code. Their warranty is worthless too. Plus they will now demand you pay them 80% of the contract before they will install anything, so you won't know how bad the doors and installation are until you are out most of your money.
