He wanted over $4,000 for the new heat pump and $3,300 for the new panels and we said forget it. We had taken the front panel off the heat pump and when he came he took the panel with him. We asked him to bring our panel back and he said when he dropped our bill off, he'd drop our panel off. Their bill says work order estimates and is in the amount of $317.66. He called us the same day, Thursday he dropped the bill off to pick up a check. We thought this invoice was ridiculous. He called us Monday and asked us to call the office to clear up the invoice. When my husband spoke to Bob, the owner, he never told us there would be a charge to come out and give an estimate and neither did Paul when he came out. The way the work order is worded, it says labor alternative energy services, troubleshoot solar water heater, 3 hours at $98.50 an hour. I would pay an attorney whatever it takes before I pay this man a dime. My husband is an elderly, disabled veteran and we think they were trying to take advantage of him.
Description of Work: My husband called them to get an estimate on repairing some solar water heating panels for our pool. At the time he did that, the man mentioned nothing of a charge to give us an estimate. He asked if we had a ladder and we did. A couple days later someone called to say they were in the area. My husband brought the ladder to the man and he climbed up to look at the panels. I don't think he was here but 10 minutes and immediately said there were 3 panels leaking and they needed to be replaced. He didn't even mention repair as an option. My husband noticed the pump was not on all the way and he called the man back. He came back out a few days later and gave us two estimates, one for replacing 3 panels and one for replacing the whole system. We also inquired about replacing the pump.
