+ -1 moreThe men worked hard and did a good job of laying the sod. But the sod itself had a lot of weeds and other grass in it. Was not happy with the sod.

Description of Work: Bought 8 pallets of Grass, and had their team lay down sod. Showed up on time, the sod was excellent quality, the receptionist and order taker was right on the ball getting me the delivery the following day after my request. I did read one more negative post but found none of those issues. The person taking the order was professional, zozia (sp) grass is what I ordered and they had the ability to get these pallets to me the next day where other grass of sod companies either could not get this type of grass or their prices where off the wall.The fellows that put down the sod used machetes, and did a great job of cutting around trues and other landscaping. There is usually another person riding a large tractor that moves the pallets around to make it easier for the workers to pick up and lay down the sod. There was no pressure to pay, and in fact my card was declined and I had many days to get payment to them. It can be a little scary when you read one report, and I explained that to the owner, and they were not aware of the bad report. I would use this company again, as they were very responsive, friendly, cost appropriate, and I had no worms or dead grass. Michael

+ -1 moreWent to Sod Depot on a Saturday to pick up a few pieces of sod. Was very impressed with the partial pallet of Floratam on site. Spoke to the clerk and asked if I ordered sod by the pallet, would it be the same quality as the sod on the premises. Was assured it would be. Was told Tuesday was the soonest it could be delivered. Called Sod Depot after it was delivered as the top pieces were dried out and filled with patches of dead grass. Not yellow from lack of sun, but literally dead. About 20% of the sod was affected. Clerk informed me it was probably just cut from a different part of the sod farm. Felt like she just wanted me off the phone. The quality of the sod was not consistent. Would have two rows on the pallet where the grass was firm and then the next row literally fell apart as it was pulled from the pallet. When I received the invoice with the delivery, showed "Sod Sold As Is" in a very large font. There is a reason for that statement. Day after it was laid, noticed there were weeds in the sod. Not just a few weeds, but heavily infested. Was not able to pull the weeds out by the root. Had to pick the sod up and turn the piece over to see what the problem was. Weeds had a tuber-like root system that were 1/4" to 1/2" thick and intertwined in the grass. That's when I noticed that the piece was swarming with at least three types of worms. Had to treat the new sod with Spectracide. Am still trying to get the weeds out without damaging the sod but not having much luck. Have introduced a new very aggressive weed into my yard. BUYER BEWARE! Better off to purchase weed and worm free sod from Home Depot. If it doesn't grow, you can return it. Better quality, also.
