+ 1 moreCalled and talked to a person almost immediately. Scheduled someone to come out 2 days later which is pretty fast (others were over a week wait). Jeff came on time and listened as I explained what I wanted. He created a materials and labor estimate. Estimate was based on flat hourly rate times how many hours he thought it would take. He went out and got the materials and started to work on the wall. Jeff took his time and made sure things were done right. He asked me how things looked from time-to-time to make sure I was happy with how it was going/looking. Super pleased with his work, attention to detail, and overall manners. Sometimes guys just slap things up and move on. I feel he really cared about his work and the final product. Would ask for him again if I need more work done in the future.
Description of Work: Extend a wall 3 feet. Framing and drywall work.

+ 9 moreWe couldn't be more pleased with the service, attention to detail, the professional courtesy provided and all the follow up and follow through provided by the whole My Handy Craftsmen team. The craftsman who worked on our project, Mark is top notch. He went out of his way to ensure the demo went smoothly and did not cause any hindrance to my son who was home sick that day. In fact, he took the demo work out our master bath window rather than taking in through the house so he wouldn't cause my son additional respiratory problems. Something I didn't even think about. Each day Mark informed me what was done and what was going to be done the next day. He showed up on time every time. Worked a full day. No babysitting was required. Mark has done this so many time I could tell that he has mastered the professional process. He took the time to clarify any aesthetic decisions with me to ensure I would be okay happy. I will be calling My Handy Craftsmen with every home improvement project I have in the future. Truly a professionally run business and team!!

The end result was exactly what we wanted - it was a job well done! We would definitely recommend My Handy Craftsman.

+ 7 moreThis is our second remodel project with My Handy Craftsman. They do outstanding work and are fairly priced. They are very flexible if things come up during the remodel process that need to change. Our bathroom turned out exactly how we wanted it to - very quality work by a contractor who had about 25 years experience and took no shortcuts. Couldnt be happier with the results. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel. "Pull and replace" remodel for guest bathroom. Took out existing tub, floor, vanity, closet - replaced with all new. Moved some electric and put in some new lighting also.

+ -1 moreCancelled our appointment for estimate 10 minutes before the appointment that was scheduled 2 weeks prior stating that it was too far for them to travel.
Description of Work: We made an appointment with this contractor 2 weeks ago for an estimate to be done on retiling both bathroom showers. Mr. Hale called us 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment time stating that he could not possible come to give us an estimate because we are too far out. Now mind you, we told them where we lived when we made the appointment. Why not just tell us then? They cover Oviedo, we aren't that much farther. I guess our job was too small for them which was fine, but let us know up front not minutes before you're due to show to an appointment. Unprofessional to say the least. Would not recommend.

+ 3 moreThey were very professional from the proposal of work to the actual work completed. They were very prompt to the time they would be on site for repair and then the final painting to be completed. They were also accommodating when during the work we found termite damage and worked with my termite company to allow them to come in and check the damage. I would have loved to have My Handy Craftsman do the repair work on the termite damage but due to liability / warranty issues my termite company have their own people coming in for that repair. My Handy Craftsman could not have been a better company to work with on the work completed. I am having them back in to work on my interior paint and dry wall repair. I highly recommend this company for all your house needs. They were an absolute pleasure to work with. They even pressure washed my walkway for free during the painting prep :) Thank you so so much My Handy Craftsman!
Description of Work: I had Dry Rot repair around the house as well as painting to be done. I asked all the dry rot be repaired with James Hardie board rather than standard T1-11 board. This should prevent early dry rot again. Hardie board is very heavy material to work with but My Handy Craftsman had no issue working with this material. The hardest thing to probably fix was the chimney area (heatilator) surrounded by wood frame on the roof. This entire area had become so dry rotted it was open to the outside. The entire house needed to be painted on the outside as well. My roof is very steep almost a 2 story home that is actually just a single story with a large cathedral ceiling. Full proposal: Dry Rot repair Chimney – Remove and replace the wood siding and corner trim with James Hardie T1-11 sheathing and 1x4 corner trim. The chimney will be covered with house wrap. Gable End at Rear – Remove and replace the wood siding with James Hardie T1-11 sheathing. The area will be covered with house wrap. Window at Rear - Remove and replace the wood siding and corner trim with James Hardie T1-11 sheathing and 1x4 corner trim on the East and South side of the window. The area will be covered with house wrap. Gable End at Rear Porch – Remove and replace the wood siding with James Hardie T1-11 sheathing. The area will be covered with house wrap. Gable at Kitchen Nook - Remove and replace the wood siding with James Hardie T1-11 sheathing on the North, East and South side of the kitchen nook. The area will be covered with house wrap. Kitchen Window South Side - Remove and replace the wood siding and corner trim with James Hardie T1-11 sheathing and 1x4 corner trim. The area will be covered with house wrap. Garage – Remove and replace the perimeter gasket trim. This proposal does not include painting. All construction debris will be disposed of by MHC. This proposal does not include the replacement of the sub-wall if it is found to be damaged. Any sub-wall replacement will be additional work and will be treated as a change order. Our Labor Price: $3,840.00 Materials Estimate: $1,525.00 Full proposal: Outside Paint Scope of Work - Painting Pressure rinse the home and seal all cracks and voids with silicone latex caulk to prepare for painting. Paint the gutter, fascia and soffit with primer and paint latex paint. Paint the body of the home with two colors using primer and paint elastomeric latex paint. Paint the front door of the home with primer and paint latex paint. Our Labor Price: $2,300.00 Materials Estimate: $650.00

Acknowledged he couldn't get to our project for another 3 weeks (got our 'okay' on that) but WOULD get us a quote within next 4 days or so. No quote and two messages to this company through Angies List and STILL have no quote/response. Why would you go to the trouble/expense of dispensing a handyman to potential clients and then let that 'lead' falter? We've resorted to fencing companies and will pursue the pocket-door through other handymen.
Description of Work: Multiple projects, biggest being putting in fencing across 6 ft. width of back yard, also a pocket door and electrical outlet.

The job did turn into a three day job, but only for a few hours at a time. He showed up on time everyday and worked very quickly. Even through the weekend! We liked that we would pay the exact amount for the supplies from the store without an upcharge. The final price was reasonable and even came out lower than the estimate. We will definitely hire again!
