DO NOT Hire this company. They are TERRIBLE. They sent a technician (Jason Stewart - showed up wearing sandals and gym shorts) to come take a look at my AC unit. This gentleman had no CLUE what he was doing. My AC unit was not cooling. He decided to install a hard start kit and he charged me $310 for it, I went online and saw a few for $28. Ten minutes later the AC stop working. He played with some wires and left. 10 minutes later we called him again because the AC was still not working. He came back and changed the capacitor and left. 15 minutes later the AC unit stopped working again, he returned at 9pm to play with the wires again. This time he claimed I needed a new AC Compressor, he quoted me for $1,800. He took $300 deposit. The next day I got a second opinion from ARS Rescue Rooter. The first thing they did was open the furnace, 30 minutes later my AC was up and running. I called Morgan Air to explain the situation, they came back to collect their starter kit and their capacitor, however they are still refusing to give me my $610 back. Please call a different company, Morgan Air will lie and SCAM you.

The technician, Mason Aube, was prompt. He worked non-stop, making sure everything was working right. Mason fully explained what and why he was doing, the results, and how it may or may not affect your air conditioner. He was very professional and thorough. He answered all my questions in detail. I was very impressed with his quality of work and would definitely call Morgan Air again.

What a JOKE!!! This company was referred to me by a "Home Warranty" contract I have. When the repair person arrived the next day, he made a perfunctory assessment and concluded that I had three options: the first option was an over the top estimate of $3500 - $4000! ...Whoa! The second option was a NEW a/c unit of $8000. And, finally, the third option was another new unit of $10,000! The house we live in is only four years old. I do NOT need a new air conditioner! It seemed every time my wife and I talked about the repair needed, the the service rep continuously reverted the conversation to PURSHAsING a new a/c unit! This guy didn't appear to be a repair person at all--- but a SALES rep for the company! Needless to say, we got a second opinion that was quickly identified with a repair price of only $950!...It's not a pleasant experience to be be deceived by someone in your own home! A fee of $60 was given upon completion of estimate!

They are scam artist as they tired to scam me for $5000. Its not what I think its what I know. I need some parts for the AC but first day they said to change all the duct work. On the next day a member of the same company came to change the same part when they were not able to sell me the other things. I didn't told the new guy and I asked him to check everything the duct work, wiring and every thing. There is nothing good for this company. he checked everything through meters and said everything is in good working order. Then I showed him the written bid and said this is what your company wanted to do yesterday and you can see the blood going out of his face as they are scam artists.

They were responsive. They came when they said they would come which was this morning. The young man who came seems professional and knowledgeable. His main objective was to see if we were candidate for selling their system too. They were accurate. Overall, they were fine. I might use them again if I need service to the air conditioner. He was here for 2 hours but part of it was marketing with their time. Certainly, the cost was very reasonable for the time spent. They called at 8:30 a.m. and said that the man is on the way. He must have come from Georgia because he got here at 10:30 a.m. but that’s okay because we were expecting him sometime this morning. The technician was professional. He spoke well and he seems to know what he was talking about.
Description of Work: We used the special deal of Morgan Air Conditioning and they inspected the heating and a/c. We have a mold problem in our apartment and we wanted to get the ducts clean. They are going to come out and inspect the system. They will give us a quote on cleaning the ducts. He told me that my capacitor was bad, the compressor test was good and the air conditioner was working fine. They put it back in and it was still working fine.

Pulled out my filter and left it outside the unit and told my wife that it would be $150 to replace the filter. Also tried to sell her on replacing major components on a high end almost brand new unit saying that we had a sever mold issue. Quoted her $700 and never cleaned anything. ea I had no filter for 4 days but luckily Caldeco came through. Thank goodness for Caldeco. They replaced the filter reasonably and cleaned the unit for about $100. Go with Caldeco. Morgan Air solicited me and I shouldn't have done work with them. Atrocious.

Came home from work on a Friday evening to find that the a/c was blowing warm air. Called my home warranty company (First American) and they referred me to Morgan Air. They promptly called and came out the following day to check my system. After discovering a coil was the culprit, I was told that my 10 year old a/c was bad and the main duct (from the handler) was full of mold. They then proceeded to tell me that the warranty company would not cover the mold removal and since it was so bad my best choice was to replace the unit completely and they would take care of the mold and ensure it didn't return. Feeling overwhelmed and helpless (90+ degrees out, it was a weekend and felt I could trust the company the warranty people sent out), I accepted their "deal". They informed me of cost savings with my electric company (my electric bill has been higher since the installation of said unit) and rebates (no further information received on this) but I have seen no signs of either. They started the replacement process and after 30+ days, the work is still not quite complete (waiting for some drywall work to be completed as well as a final inspection). It has taken multiple calls to get someone to come out to do follow up work and appointments have all been delayed (one 9 am appt actually took place at 5 pm on a Saturday - the entire day was spent waiting for someone to show up). When they say they will arrive at 10, it's more like noon or later if at all. I received a notice from the warranty company (after the unit was installed) that the coil was covered and called Morgan Air to ask about this. Eric informed me that I should receive a refund of $200 or so because of that. I have since sent two emails to the Morgan Air and made a phone call but still no response regarding any refund. I feel I was completely taken advantage of by this company and that in fact, I did not need an entirely new unit. I would not recommend this company and will be contacting the home warranty company as well.

Originally, we were not able to afford the new system, however this company arranged a credit system so that we were able to purchase. We were pleased with the system, however, not very happy with them missing our appointment. In March 2013, they came to arrange a financing plan for a new air conditioning system. Come to find out, they installed a used system that is in horrible shape. The coils are badly leaking and there is rust all over the inside. I had someone come out to clean the air duct vents and after they opened up the unit, this was noticed. The unit is only 8-9 months old, there should be no way this system should be going to fault this soon. They are a total rip off, I have been informed that they are ripping off others as well. I am contacting every office that I possibly can to get this word out.
Description of Work: I was promised late last week that someone would come out yesterday to clean my air conditioning ducts. We just got our air conditioning from them last year and I was told that as part of the warranty, they would give me a free cleaning of the duct system. I was very surprised to hear that because I was under that impression that I would have to pay $70 per duct. We had the extra money, so I made the appointment and then I got a call from the office saying that they would be out later in the day. I waited until 7 pm, but no one called and no one showed. They are approximately 3 to 4 times more expensive for cleaning ducts than other companies in my area.

This is our story dealing with Morgan AC, Lutz, FL. We learned our lesson with this company. After we were already committed, we discovered there was a Better Business Bureau alert for Morgan AC, and their accreditation with BBB was revoked. Their rating was D- as of 8/7/2013. Our experience was dreadful, and while we feel we have a quality product, Morgan AC was extremely difficult to deal with, and inept at customer service. Here is a list of some of the problems we experienced: *We agreed to a new system, but our system was functioning. We were told the install could start within an hour, and should be done by late afternoon. We were also told we wouldn't have any major interruption in our AC. This was not the case, they arrived at 4pm and worked until almost midnight. We did not have AC most of that time. Then the technician left 2 vents uncovered in the attic, and thus the house was hot overnight. They returned the next day and worked 9am to 5pm. *The lead technician had a helper during the install. We later learned that neither was on Morgan's payroll, and one was a minor. We had serious concerns about our homeowners liability / insurance exposure. *They failed their own pre-inspection and the first county inspection. It took 2 weeks to get the circuit breakers replaced, which was necessary to meet code for the new unit. This caused us concern and we worried about a fire hazard. *Our neighbors (2 doors down) complained to us that the technician and his helper were arguing outside our house, and using profanity. *During installation, the technician caused $650.00 damage to our ceilings. Morgan AC did repair the damage and pay the cost. They did however challenge our choice of contractor, as we insisted on one that was bonded, licensed and insured. They did eventually accept our request. *They did not replace the concrete slab outside, and we requested a credit for that cost. We did not receive one. *We were told they could install through our attic opening. However the technician insisted on installing through the AC intake duct, which caused damage, and ended up with a replacement of the vent. *Communication was poor, as we waited 2-3 days for responses to some of our calls. *The whole experience was drawn out with these issues. We signed the contract and installation occurred on 6/24 - 6/25. The work was completed and ready for final inspection on 8-2-13. We would NOT recommend Morgan AC to anyone.

Unfortunately I have had very bad experiences with another A/C company. I was very pleased with the professionalism of the technician who came out to my home this morning. He was very pleasant and personable, and he arrived exactly when he said he would, actually even a few minutes early. This was also a nice change from the old company. Chris explained what he was doing, and why, and he didn't try to sell me something that I didn't need. Very refreshing!
Description of Work: I purchased a package deal for four A/C cleanings over a year ago at a home show. Even though I had purchased them so long ago they still honored the package. I had them come out to clean the A/C system. Chris arrived a few minutes early and did a very thorough job of inspecting and cleaning the system. I was able to observe everything he did, and he did a lot more than the pervious company I had a contract with ever did! He did tell me I needed a Hard Start device for the outside unit, which I had been told before. However the price was less than half of what had been quoted by the other company. Although this is my first time dealing with this comapny I was very pleased and satisfied.

When I described to Mike why I initially called Morgan Air (Noises coming from the condenser unit) He (Mike) said it sounded like all I might of needed was possibly a new compressor and some freon gas. In August of 2012. My unit did break down and that’s when I initially called Morgan Air, who my brother had been using for his properties. Morgan cleaned it up and got it running. One of the servicemen said it was in good shape (at that time it was only 9 ½ yrs old) and should last at least another 10 yrs. I run it at 78 degrees in summer and hardly at all during the winter. The service guy said he runs his at 72 degrees all summer and his unit was 18 yrs old at the time. Now when I called Morgan again in June 12th of this year the first guy they sent out (Jon) said he needed to send for a “tech” to evaluate the problem. When I spoke with Mike Abyss of Abyss Air Conditioning who I mentioned earlier about this practice he told me the first guy who came out (Jon) should have been able to diagnose the problem. Instead Jon said that I would have to write a check up front for $271.00 to have a “tech” come out. So I did. At this time I was a week away from a serious hernia operation as well as going through some stressful personal situations. I was not thinking as clearly as I normally would so I went along with Jon’s suggestion to have a “tech” come and have a look at the unit. This “tech” Kris did not show up or call on the appointed day or time and when I called Morgan Air to find out where he was they kept me on hold forever and eventually hung up. I had to call back several times and finally established a second appointment date. When the appointed time for Kris to show, came he did not. I called Morgan Air again and they told me he would be several hours late. He came at 8 pm that night. He finally arrived and went right to the unit. I left him alone to work and within a few minutes he called me out and showed me that I had mold infestation in my duct work. He cut a large whole in the plenium and showed me this so called “mold”. He further explained that I would need $3000.00 worth of repairs at least, and would be guaranteed for only a year. His suggestion was to purchase a new unit just to be on the safe side. At the time he could not tell me the make or model of this “new unit”. However he could give me some breakdown of cost of repairs. Please see enclosed order forms. Because of my health issue at the time (hernia) and my personal issue I thought perhaps it would be the thing to do. Besides it was very hot inside my condo at the time. He never mentioned that the $271.00 would (should) be deducted from the quoted price as it should have been of $8000.00. It wasn’t until I called the owner Brainard Morgan that this $271.00 would be deducted from the $8000.00. I told Brainard that I was retired and on a fixed income with pending health problems. He agreed to $7400.00 which unfortunately I agreed to do. When the guys came to install the new unit one of them asked to use an industrial vaccum. I asked why? He said to vaccum up all the dirt in the duct work, the one Kris cut a big hole in to show me the “mold”. This guy, whose nickname was ”Fish” Said no, it wasn’t mold but just dirt. So Kris was lying. I felt he was a con artist but I always like to think the best of everyone but in this case it proved very wrong. They went ahead and installed the unit. He said that it was costly to “pull a permit” also. And that within a few days an inspector would be out to inspect the unit. Five weeks passed and no one showed up so I called the city of Treasure Island and asked if any permit had been pulled by Morgan Air to install a unit in my apt. They said no. So I called Morgan and they said they had which was a lie. Finally they sent one of their people down to Treasure Island City office to file a permit (July 23, 2013) The unit was install on June 12, 2013. (See enclosed paperwork). I called Brainard the owner and told him how I felt about all this and he was very nasty and evasive about giving me an itemized bill for the installation of the new unit. There was no break down of cost of parts, labor or anything else (see enclosed receipts) just a blanket price of $7900.00 I still don’t have an itemized bill. I also later spoke to Jon the first guy who came out and also Kris confronting him with his lies to me about many things. Both of them were very confrontive and unprofessional. When I spoke to Mike Abyss (Abyss Air Conditioning) on Sept 17th He said it was his opinion that I most likely never needed a new unit. Earlier in this situation Kris told me that my unit was only good for approx. – 10 yrs or so. When in fact a year earlier (Aug, 2012) a service man I mentioned before said it was good for at least another 10 yrs. the way I took care of it by regular maintenance and not running it hard. This guy was a maintenance man for Morgan Air. He was nice and I did like him. At one point when I was talking with Brainard Morgan the owner about Mike Abyss’s estimate of $5800.00 for the unit (at the most) he became confrontive and said “his company was a big organization, “and “how did I know of this unit Mike was describing might be “setting on the back of some truck somewhere,” what ever that could mean!? Also when Kris, the so called “tech” was here he asked some strange questions such as “do you live here alone?” “do you have a computer?” at the time I was here alone and I didn’t have a computer but I felt later that he was checking me out to see if I could possibly have someone here to discuss this unsavory deal with or perhaps have a computer to check out the many negative comments and evaluations about Morgan Air Conditioning. The time he asked me these questions he was looking straight ahead at the wall and not me. He was very strange. I have alerted our building superintendent about these guys (Morgan Air) and she said that she would go home and do her “homework” on them. Her husband is a contractor. The next day she called and told me about the many complaints on Angies’ List (56) which I could see and also they (Morgan Air) were rejected by the better Business Breau, and had a D-evaluation. I live in a 150 unit high rise condo here on Treasure Island and we have many elderly people here. I’m concerned that none of them ever contact Morgan Air, as many have been taken badly by other air conditioning people using the same tactics as Morgan. I’m not writing to you to get even with Morgan Air or for revenge but clearly these people are very unethical and obviously have no morals. I’m retired from the school system (Pinellas County) after 31 yrs of enjoyable service. I have some health issues mainly a degenerative spinal condition and now this hernia situation. I can ill afford (and should have thought this through more diligently) such a financial hit when according to my own instincts and Mike Abyss’s evaluation should not have needed a new unit and been subjected to such a scam and false information from Morgan Air Conditioning.

Response from Morgan Air Conditioning Inc
When (member name removed) called us out to his home, we came highly recommended by his brother. The year prior his unit stopped working and one of our servicemen went out and repaired it. It has issues then but we finally got it going. I don't believe any servicemen can see into the future and guarantee a unit will run for 20 years. In any case when we arrived the second time the unit had serious problems and with all of our customers we give them the option to repair or replace. (member name removed) looked at the unit and decided base on the age, condition and cost of the repairs, it was more cost effective to replace with a new unit and it would be cleaner since he was having health concerns. He gave us authorization and we proceeded to install. While into the process we learned that since he had a special unit made exclusively for Condos like his, the city of Treasure Island required a special letter from the manufacture so that his unit could be grandfathered in to the new energy code. This was not easy, but we got the letter and then we got the permit. (member name removed) called me later and asked me to drop the price especially since he paid for a leak check. I wanted him to be satisfied so I dropped the price $500. He said thank you and that was it. Now five months later as is always the case, (member name removed) is unhappy. He called in the expert (Mike) and now wants his unit for $1,000.00 We as a company cannot afford to give out free units so I am not sure how we can help (member name removed) other than to provide him with the best service possible and address his concerns during the warranty period.

The installers were late, they were argumenative. The lead installer left before the job was completed (he was supposed to pick up a check covering the job) he left his assistant ,who didn't speak english to finish up. The following week we got a rather rude call from the office demanding payment.....we explained what happen and someone came out to get the check. We had a man from Morgan come out to check the job before the county inspector came, he said everything was fine and to code. One day the doorbell rang and there stood the county inspector...no one had let us know a date or time had been set. THE JOB DID NOT PASS INSPECTION. Because of all the problems we had Morgan gave us a maintance agreement, every time the technicians showed up they never knew what they were supposed to be doing. One told us our units were disgusting, full of mold and rust and that we needed 3-5 ultraviolet lights installed @ $899.00 ea. He also told us that if we developed a leak due to rust it wouldn"t be covered by the warranty. My husband immediately called Carrier only to find out that our unit had never been registered therefor our 10yr waranty was only good for 5yrs. We had another technician come out to clean the units and get rid of the mold.....he said the units were clean. We looked at the units ourselves and didn't see any mold. We got a call form someone saying they were a District Manager for Morgan, he said we owed Morgan $2,617.18, that it was past due and would be turned over to collections. Come to find out this employee was one of the technicians that had come out on a call, he had been fired, and had called 5-6 other customers of Morgan's giving them the same story as us but using different names and dollar amounts owed.......harrasement! Morgan won't answer our calls about what is being done about the warranty, they put us on hold and after 15-20min disconnect us. We now wonder if we even needed a new A/C unit at all! RUN don't walk from this company.........you will regret dealing with them!!!!!!!!

The service technician showed up promptly and began working on my system. He told me the system had a leak, but he would have to charge it with freon to find the leak. He needed to charge me $120/lb. for freon because my unit (6 years old) uses R22. When I asked him how much freon, he said "Ten to Twelve pounds because the system is empty." The good news was, my home warranty would cover $10/lb. So, I was asked for $900 just to find the leak! When I asked what they do for a leak, he said he would have to remove it and send it out for repair. We would then have to recharge the system again! Total quote was for nearly $3000! I refused the service and asked for a second opinion. Thorpe AC (who installed the unit) came out promptly, found the leak in the evaporator coil and recharged my unit with freon. The system only took two pounds of freon so it was NOT empty and Thorpe only charged $45/lb! Additionally, the unit is under a ten year warranty, so the coil replacement was free! Total cost to repair at Thorpe: $189!
Description of Work: Morgan responded to my call because I saw ice on my AC hose one morning.

My A/C stopped working. Kris from Morgan Air came out and at first told me I needed a new motor. He said it would take at least one week and he said he has seen it take up to 35 days for the motor to arrive. He then explained that since my unit was 18 yrs. old I should get a new unit so I asked how much that would cost and was told seven to eight thousand dollars. I told him I was going to call other companies and verify the these figures which upset him and he claimed I did not trust him. He went back outside while I was on the phone and came back in and told me the motor was now ok because he cooled it off with the hose but I had a leak and the freon would be $125.00 per pound and I needed six pounds at a total cost of $750.00 plus the service fee of $75.00. I called Trane (I believe the best manufacturer of A/C units) and they charge $75.00 for the first pound and $50.00 there after. When Kris heard this he once again said I didn't trust him, got huffy, and left. Avoid this company.
Description of Work: This is one of those companies that try to take advantage of older folks.

We contacted an independent air conditioning company who located the cut duct work See pictures. No rat damage or any evidence to suggest any rats been in the attic. Morgan Air attempted to scam me. I contacted the office and the manager JOSH refused to let me speak with the owner or send anyone out from his company to inspect the damage, he was very rude and stated he would never have anyone from his company repair the damage his tech created. The other air conditioner company quoted us $450.00 to fix the system. The BBB has also rejected the membership as reports if misconduct continue to come in. It's criminal what they do.
Description of Work: Originally they were called for weak air flow in bedroom. Home was inspected one week prior to the service techs arrival. The attic was inspected as well by my fiancée who is a licensed pest control operator. The air conduction tech/salesman stated that the ducts were damage by rats and showed me pictures from his phone. After my fiancée pointed out the damage is new and apparent that the ducts were cot the tech from Morgan Air went back into the attic and applied masking paste to cover the damage he made. He further stated we needed a new air conditioner and duct work replaced. The air conditioner is 4 years old.

All he did was tell me that the unit was low on Freon and we were breaking the law by running it the way we were. We had a friend of my husband who has worked in HAVC for 30 years and he told us that was not the case. We have decided to replace the unit because of the age of the unit but we have another company to do that.

I can't believe how many times they call my house with their "cold calling". I have told them, without exaggeration at least 6 times that I'm not interested and I have a contract in place with another company and to remove my number from their list. Once again I get another phone call..and another...and another... I decide to return the call from the number on my caller ID. I find that the "mailbox" is full and unable to take a message. How interesting. Makes me think that more than I have been trying to get them to STOP CALLING! I have also lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but somehow they are able to get around it all and continually annoy people!!!

We're all seen news programs where technicians from different companies report "no repairs needed" up to estimates that run thousands of $'s. My experience was more like hearing scare tactics to sell a $271 package - a reason not to have Morgan perform the repairs. Words like "mold infestation"made me feel like my family should start wearing hazmat masks. When he turned off the a/c because he did not want to be responsible for a "blown compressor," I began to wonder. Then he said the electric bill for my 1,000 sq ft home should not be more than $90 in the summer.....come on! Though somewhat educational, I would be more confident getting a second opinion from an "A" Anglie's list company. Paid $30 a Living Social deal that was valued at $79.
Description of Work: Duct sanitation - not to be confused w/cleaning. More like Lysol was sprayed into the a/c unit. A/C inspection
