On Tuesday night, about half the lights in our house started flickering, then went out. We had called our electric company because we pay for a service plan through them, and they sent somebody out on Thursday who told us he couldn't even look at our problem because he found several code violations (at least 3 open splices in our attic) so he had to walk away and told us to call his company for a separate appointment. They never called back -- so I called Absolute Electric later that day after finding them on Angie's List. They came out at 9 a.m. the next morning and within 5 minutes had fixed the lighting issue -- a loose connection in our dining room. Then they spent a couple of hours fixing the code violations. We were very happy with their service, and they were really prompt -- some companies we called said they couldn't come out for 2 weeks! My husband was home and said they vacuumed up any messes they had to make from going into the attic and they had to move our very heavy dining room table but they put a pad underneath so as not to scratch our laminate floors. They were very respectful and communicated well and we won't hesitate to call them again in the future for any other electrical issues.
Description of Work: Fixed a loose connection affecting about half the lights in our house. Fixed wiring code violations made by sellers of home.

We are converting from electric to gas for the hot water heater, clothes dryer and range. I received estimates from three different electricians to make sure that we have proper electrical wiring and outlets. Two of the electricians pointed out that my breaker panel was not within code. Our home was built in 1954 and the last time the electrical was updated was about 20 years ago. Bernard at Absolute Electric gave me a very reasonable bid. They were able to do the work the following week. Bernard advised that this would be an all day job. They arrived on time today and after checking with me, they began work immediately. They were very professional and cleaned up as they went along. I'm very pleased with the work that they did.
Description of Work: Installed a new larger breaker panel, added a dedicated circuit for the microwave oven, and the washer/dryer, a new wall outlet in the family room, added a new receptacle on the outside of the house for a gas tankless water heater, and a new 120 volt receptacle for a new gas range.

We contacted Absolute based on the very good reviews we read on Angie's List. I received a phone estimate from Bernard based on description of the project. I scheduled an appointment for a few days later. Bernard arrived right on time and did the job of installing the can light exactly as planned and for the quoted price ($140). While he was there, we asked about another project -- to install a receptacle in a cabinet which we thought would be more of a hoped for result given what we perceived to be difficulty in running a line and cutting into the cabinet face. Bernard did not flinch. The installation was handled with skill and ease, and a very fair price ($145), and we now have a receptacle where we needed one that looks like it was installed as part of the original cabinet installation. We couldn't have been more pleased with Bernard's work and will use him again with no hesitation.
Description of Work: Installation of a can light in a hall bath and installation of a receptacle in a cabinet in the same hall bath.

They arrived on time and worked hard the whole time. One of my outdoor lights wasn't hooked to electricity and a wire had to be run to it through the garage ceiling. They worked hard for about 3 hours. They also let me know that my house was not grounded (kind of important in FL). I couldn't afford to do it right then and when I tried to call them back to schedule a time, couldn't ever get in touch with anyone. I would have used them again. My only concern was that after they left my AC quit cooling and I had to call the AC company out. The breaker had been switched off. I've had some issues with the AC in the past so I'm not sure if it flipped itself or the guys flipped it and forgot to turn it back on. It hasn't flipped again so I'm thinking they forgot to flip it back which cost more money to have the AC company come out. Otherwise, they did a great job and all my lights and switches are working well.
Description of Work: I needed some light's changed out, had a couple outlets that weren't working, and outdoor lighting that wasn't working.

I called Benard on Monday 6/11 and he came out on Wednesday 6/13. I explained the issues to Benard and he went to finding the issue. He discovered that a GFCI outlet was not tripped and working, but it was not letting the continuing branch outlets work. Benard replaced that outlet and I was working again. For my new outside outlet, Benard ran a new line from my pool breaker box and put a nice in-use cover and GFCI outlet on it. I also asked Benard to check my ground was in good shape at the meter. The work took about 2 1/2 hours and I am quite happy. I have used Benard before and I will continue to do so. I know I can just tell him the issue and he will go off and do whatever it takes to accomplish the tasks. I know the work will be done perfectly and I can go about my business without having to wonder how he is doing the work. Benard buys piece of mind, is highly professional and never fails to provide great customer service. I highly recommend him for any job--large or small.
Description of Work: I had an entire string of outlets out. I suspected a GFCI outlet was tripped but I could not find any. I needed that problem diagnosed and repaired. I also need a new outside outlet added for a bug light.

There was some difficulty in scheduling an appointment for an estimate. Seems to be working without a receptionist. Was clear about work to be done and cost estimate. We determined a date and time which he adhered to; completed the work in timely manner; explained the final results. Was easy to work with. Have used this company for the past several years and will continue.

Our home was built in 1996 by MI. The original galvanized ground rods were corroded (I saw the problem when Verizon installed a new ONT and grounding wire). I have a whole house commercial grade lighting protector at the main panel. The protection is moot without a good building ground! Normally, residential 5/8 inch ground rods only last 10 to 15 years (zinc coated rods do just what they are supposed to do, corrode and sacrifice the zinc over time). Also, I contacted 'call sunshine' to locate the utilities as new 10 foot ground rods were being installed. I wanted the new rods at least 2 feet away from the old ones. Why install a new ground rod next to a corroded one? I contracted Absolute Electric to install two new 10 foot copper clad 3/4 inch ground rods (commercial grade 3/4 inch versus the 5/8's inch). Of the four electricians I called, only Bernard explained the requirements and process. I have a background in this area it was easy to tell that Bernard was very knowledgeable. I got much more than expected. The new code is to have a ground bonding bar for utilities (phone, gas, etc), which he and his assistant (George) installed along with a new ground wire from the meter. Because the original ground wire was under the stucco, its condition could not be determined so it was replaced (better to replace what cannot be seen, it was only $21 of wire). While in the meter box they found loose connections and signs of excessive heat from the loose connections. They tightened the connections as well. Excellent work and very professional. Two men, two hours plus parts was $335.00; fixing loose wiring and bad grounding, priceless.
Description of Work: Installed two 3/4 inch copper clad ground rods, grounding block (bonding bar), and new ground wire to the meter box. Installed ground wires from ONT and lighting arrester on cable splitter. Installed new ground wire to natural gas line (was not grounded). Rerouted coax cable.

Bernard arrived on time and was very helpful. He definitely gave me suggestions on how to lower my electric bill. He replaced the water heater timer in the garage and replaced the timer for my pool and made sure I knew how to operate the timers.. It wasn't the exact model(the pool timer) so it didn't exactly fit the breaker box, but he made it work somehow. He came the same day I called and and finished in about 3 hours. Very nice and professional. I will definitely call him again. The price was very fair. Pretty typical for electric work.

This company was a pleasure to do business with, as both were respectful and courteous. I had made a list ( for my benefit....age,memory loss) and they used it to go from one need to the next. They explained what was needed to be done and did it. They were patient with my questions about lighting issues, not bright enough etc, and took the itme to describe differences of bulbs etcs. Both went about their buisness in a professional manner. No blaring radios, not on their cell phone., . They left no trash around.(Bits of this and that..from wiring etc) On both visits we were very impressed with their knowledge , expertise. and willingness to explain all. I would use this company for any electical/ lighting issue, and can highly recommend them without reservation.Very reasonable.
Description of Work: Due to having many Dr appts it was difficult for us to schedule a time for Absolute Electric to come, however, when a day or two were available for us, that is the day they came. They worked with our limitations. Fabulous. Duirng the initial first phone call, we were asked what we neeedd to be done.. a variety of issues from rewiring lamps, plugs not working, changed non working switches, etc. This was Dec.2011. In Jan we realized the the outdoor sockets back and front for Christmas lighst, to plug in an elect saw, etc. were no longer working,so we called them again. This was a new problem. He discovered the problem pronto. This time the reset buttons were not working, gone bad(must be better tech langauge, which I do not know) which he replaced... There were a few of them.Cost isapporx for two visits.

Bernard was called to assess previous electrical work from Dave's Handyman that had not been completed. I was worried because ave's electrician's told be that what I wanted could not be done the way I wanted, however, they went ahead and wired for it.I was stuck with wiring a new switch and no lights. I was afraid I was going to be stuck with a job not completed! I called Bernard(Absolute Electric) based on Angie's list rating, he came assessed the situation-gave me an estimate and just completed the work! Beautifully! Just the way I had pictured it. He was courteous and definitely lived up to his rating. I just regret I couldn't give him an A+! I will definately use them again!gh

I contacted Absolute for a quote on the job. He came out 2 days later. This was new work for him, but he gave me an estimate of $300 to do the work. He did the research, working with TECO and the Solar manufacturer to make sure what was being installed was correct. FInally he did the work, and came in exactly at the rate quoted. The job looks great, the switch works, TECO is satisfied, and so am I.

Over the years I have used many contractors, plumbers and electricians for various jobs. I can honestly say that Bernard and Luis rank far at the top of the list with their professionalism, knowledge and winning attitude. I had several jobs for them, including installing light fixtures and adding electrical boxes in certain areas of the house. They had no problem with heights or crawling through tight spaces to access wiring and light fixtures. They worked about 2 days straight - and with a work ethic I have rarely encountered. They not only arrived promptly but were incredibly efficient with their time, taking minimal breaks. We found Bernard and Luis both to be extremely pleasant, good-natured, and likeable as well as being two of the hardest workers we have ever met. They clearly know their business, and are willing to answer any questions you may have. Since Bernard and Luis are brothers, I am not surprised that they share the same drive for excellence and strong values. Their attitude, however, does make them completely stand out as leaders of the pack in the world of independent contractors. We will be calling them again to replace a rusted main breaker and any other jobs we may need in the future. In short - if you need any electrical work done or know someone who does, call Absolute Electric immediately!
Description of Work: Replaced over thirty (30) switches and dimmers with rocker-style switches. Also hung and rewired three (3) ceiling lights, ran wires for outlets for new built-in cabinets, fixed one (1) bathroom outlet, rewired three (3) sconces from fluorescent to incandescent so that lights could be used with dimmers.

Bernard was very prompt in his arrival. He immediately went to work and explained, in detail, what the problem was. He explained my options with the GFCI receptacle that needed to be replaced in my garage (I chose the cheaper option and received no pressure to choose the upgrade) He even gave me an estimate, so if in the future I wanted the upgrade I knew how much it would cost. His employee went to work on my bathroom light switch and had that fixed in just a few minutes, making sure the new switch was "grounded" - since my old one apparently was not. I had a ceiling fan with light attachment in my family room that had not worked since I moved in. He diagnosed the problem and unfortunately the fan needed replacement, but he did try to fix the issue before coming to that decision. He made the mistake of asking "if there was anything else" - in my house there always seems to be something else. I asked him if he did pools? He said yes, and immediately went out back to check out my issue with my pool timer not working. The motor had gone bad. He had one in his truck and fixed my pool timer. I would absolutely call Absolute Electric again to work on my electrical issues. They are very professional and its nice to have a company you can rely on.

During a Saturday afternoon we had an unexpected lightning storm that among other things blew our a breaker that controlled our refrigerator. Unfortunately the company we normally use does not work Saturdays. Since we also had no computer, I had a friend research electrical companies on Angie's Life. Absolute Electric was first on the list with excellent reviews. Upon our initial call to their office Bernard, the owner, was at our house and had the breaker replaced within 45 minutes...meaning nothing in my refrigerator was spoiled. Since in the near future we will be replacing our electrical box, he also took the time to answer some of my husband's questions. After everything that was done we were expecting a hugh bill since it was a Saturday emergency call. Boy were we surprised at how cheap it was. We were very impressed with Bernard's professionalism, knowledge and courtesty. He did an excellent job in selling himself and his business. Thank you Bernard!
