I called Anthony based on his reviews on Angie's List. He was quick to respond and come over to discuss what I wanted done. I selected the materials I wanted and Anthony gave me a price. I worked on getting some other estimates but I was really impressed with Anthony's responsiveness and interest in the job. I gave Anthony the job and he gave me a date he would start and how long he thought the job would take (3 to 4 weeks). Anthony started promptly and he has an incredible work ethic. After the first week and after the demolition was done, I looked forward to getting home from work to see what had been done. The kitchen was completed after 3 weeks and 2 days. The kitchen turned out even better than I could have ever anticipated. Anthony's work is impeccable and he's a perfectionist. I can't say enough about him and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I will have Anthony do any work I have in the future.

Anthony was very responsive; returned our calls promptly and showed up on time. He came over to give us an estimate, then performed the work on a weekend (in the holiday season) between two other high priority jobs even though he normally does not work on weekends. I enjoyed his professionalism on the job and his no nonsense work ethic to get the job done on time, within the estimate given.

We planned to renovate a foreclosure that we purchased before moving in. Initially when we met with Anthony at the house, we were very optimistic about working together. We went over the details of the work to be done, flooring, tile, removal and reconstruction of walls, drywall and paint, plumbing and electrical. We planned on doing some of the work ourselves and having Anthony do the balance. We liked Anthony, and the reviews on Angie's List of his work were very good. When it came time to schedule the project, Anthony called on the phone to say that he was booked for the next two months, and that to do our job would be $16,700 in labor, plus the cost of materials. He told me that he only accepts cash and checks as payment. I then asked him to email or mail me a detailed bid showing me how he arrived at his figures and his best idea of what the materials costs would look like. I never heard from him again. We were VERY disappointed. We had plans to work with Anthony throughout the project, but instead ended up farming out all the work to other contractors.
Description of Work: Very disappointing. No follow up or communication.

Anthony Palermo is amazing because he is so competent while being a true, master artisan. I told him that from now on I will refer to him as 'The Maestro' because he is truly artistic and absolutely meticulous in his work. He remodeled our entire condo in 2009 and then, in April 2012, our en suite bathroom. I had been thinking of painting horizontal stripes in the 2nd bathroom, but went for tile when I found an inexpensive 'lasered' pattern on 12"x24" tile in two colors that blended well. The bathroom will be finished with a frameless shower door in a few months after the walls have totally cured by a specialist that Anthony will refer me to. We haven't lived in this condo year-round so every remodeling project has happened very slowly. After taking out the horrid, old shower surround, he found that the pipes were not situated in the right place. So, he just blasted through the cement and repositioned the pipes in the the proper position. There is no architectural or mechanical problem this man cannot overcome! Not only that, he shows up when he says he will. He could charge a lot more than he does if he wanted to do so. DO: My advice to someone looking for an incredibly good person who can get the job done very well is to get him while you can! DON'T: Don't be surprised if you have to wait for Anthony to get to you as he's getting busier and busier as time goes by.
Description of Work: Removal of shower surround that was original in a small bathroom (5' x 7') from 45 years ago, enlarging the shower space by opening a soffet that was totally wasted space. New plumbing, new interior walls and underflooring, tiling the entire bathroom with a horizontal line ceramic tile in a pattern I designed. I was lucky to have Anthony available to remodel this bathroom during 1 1/2 weeks that he had open between large jobs. Originally, the tile was only to be in the shower area, but I asked him to do the entire room and to get it done in time, he called in a tile helper. Usually, Anthony works alone but when he does bring others in, he only works with people who do high quality work equal to his own. Once the back from the old shower surround walls were exposed, nothing was plumb. Because of this, the tile could not be applied in the brick style, but he presented the problem and I said straight application was fine and they did a fantastic job making it totally symmetrical around the turns. Great job.

Anthony came by with his son and took a look at the posts as well as some other work that we needed done. He said that he would be able to come out on a Saturday for $400 + supplies. When that Saturday came he called and canceled, and rescheduled for the following Tuesday. On Tuesday Anthony called me and said that he was sending out another guy (John) and that he wouldn't be coming. This didn't make me very happy as I hadn't heard this before and thought that it would have been appropriate to come himself instead of sending someone else. Fortunately, John, the carpenter he sent, was wonderful. Anthony had originally projected that it would take 1 day to complete the work, and three days later John wrapped up. He did a dog door for us too, but that only took about 2 hours. 17 hours of work later we were billed more than was originally projected, and Anthony later came back and said he had billed incorrectly and asked for an additional $100. They had left unused materials in our backyard and hadn't removed them, so we requested that he send someone to pick the stuff up and gave the $100 to those people. The work was great - I'd want to use John again, but I wouldn't work with Anthony. It seemed pretty disorganized and I didn't like that he didn't come to the job himself.
Description of Work: We had some posts in the back of our new house (attached to hurricane shutters) that were rotting out and were creating a big risk for the roof. We additionally had a dog door installed.

Anthony is the general contractor. He does the tear downs, the carpentry, plumbing, drywall, flooring, tile and electrical work. For jobs like painting and building the actual cabinets, he subcontracts those. Anthony has a colleague who aids him with the design work that kitchens can require. Her name is Lynn Austin. She was incredibly helpful. Her computer generated drawings helped us see exactly what the proposed changes would look like. She was also the go-between for the cabinet builders and the consultant for the cabinetry hardware and the backsplash tile. She and Anthony make a great team. Her company is Lynn Austin Home, Inc., and she is listed with Angie's List. During the process of taking bids on the remodel, Anthony was the only contractor who arranged a visit to a previous customer to showcase his work. We were impressed with his work and the satisfaction of the home owner. He proved to be a pleasant person to work with. He always did what he promised, completed his work in a timely fashion and left the work place as neat as possible each day. In between contracted work, Anthony accomplished several tasks on our honey-do list. He installed 4 new outdoor lights, fixed the doorbell, adjusted our wobbly toilet and made the sliding door open more smoothly. He delivered 2 of our used appliances to the next door neighbor. He loves being busy and has a true work ethic. One of his best qualities is trustworthiness. We actually were out of town for the first 3 weeks of this remodel, and when we returned he had accomplished a lot.
Description of Work: In the living room a stationary bar with plumbing was removed. The laminate flooring in the dining room, living room, entry area, and family room was removed. The tile floor in the kitchen was removed along with the tile back splash along the counters. Tile on the seating side of the counter was removed and the drywall replaced. The entertainment center in the family room was removed as well as the cabinets and appliances in the kitchen. Tearing out cabinets in the kitchen included taking out the walls of a pantry which provided more room for new cabinets. New laminate flooring was put down throughout the entry area, living room, dining room, family room, kitchen and hallways to bedrooms. All the walls in the afore mentioned rooms were freshly painted including the white paint on molding next to the floor, around the doors as well as 11 doors. The contractor built the foundations for cabinetry. New hand crafted cabinets were installed in the living room, one in the entry, the kitchen and the new entertainment center in the family room. The company that made the cabinets laid down new granite counters in all the same rooms. We purchased new appliances and our contractor installed them. He also did the plumbing under the sink and installed fluorescent lights under the cabinets. He laid new tile for the backsplash. He hung a stain glass window in the living room, and took down a chandelier and replaced it with a spotlight. In the garage we had a wall which had cracked and sustained water damage. The contractor replaced the drywall on the inside and on the outside he replaced the stucco. We were absolutely impressed.

Overall project went well and was finished pretty close to estimated two weeks. There were some requested changes in materials that accounted for much of the additional effort. Anthony was very easy to work with and accomodating. His marble work in the shower was excellent - he is very careful and does very nice work. He is basically a one-man shop and that is mostly a good thing because he does very good work. A couple of subs were brought in to help keep the project on schedule including support for carpentry/drywall, floor tile, shower glass, and paint/stain. The carpentry/drywall help was very good and the marble floor gentleman did an excellent job. The shower glass sub was very professional and delivered beautiful frameless glass. The Painting sub made an absolute mess of the stain work and was incompetent and has hopefully been replaced by Anthony. If Frank (of Frank's Painting) shows up at your house, lock the doors. Anthony handled this situation professionally and the work was completed by others to my satisfaction and at no additional cost to me. One thing to be aware of is Anthony works at a flat hourly rate so when you discuss schedule, it is basically the budget. He is not the least expensive quote you'll receive but he does very nice work and is professional and very accomodating. We feel the price was fair for the quality of work delivered. My wife and I are very happy with our new bathroom.
Description of Work: A complete gut of master bathroom down to studs. Replace a shower/tub and single sink with a new relocated shower and a double sink with new cabinets and linen closet. Significant plumbing changes; electrical/lighting; marble tile shower and floor; carpentry; and drywall. Job also included painting ceiling and walls and staining doors and trim.

Anthony showed up bright and early the first day and talked with us first about the job and then proceeded to get right to work. He likes music playing when he works and enjoys himself and dances around while he works, which didn't bother us. (honestly if the work is done right and on time I wouldn't care if he likes to do cartwheels as he works) He had to start with some drywall work where our bathroom has some areas that the drywall had rotted out over the past 35 to 40 years since it was built, as well as where we were going from a medicine cabinet that was about 48" to one that was only half as big. That all got done in no time and each day major progress was made and he finished in the 3 days that he had told us it would. Along the way we hit a snag and by we I mean us the homeowners we didn't think about the fact we were buying a huge vanity but didn't have a way to get it from Lowe's to our house (apparently we thought it would fit in the trunk of a Mazda 3 LOL!) Anthony said no problem he would pick it up for us (not that we had a choice but because we were on such a tight budget we of couse asked how much he would charge us for doing that "No Charge" was his answer) We are very happy with our bathroom and with our choice in Anthony. We did get 3 other quotes but somehow we were intelligent enough to pick Anthony (Yea Us!) We where having a shower surround put in so he didn't need to do the shower and we were doing the painting to save a little money. Anthony knew we were on a budget and worked with us with that which was great. When we were stuck on where to get something because we bought the supplies we called him and he was more than willing to give us ideas on where to go. When we save up the money to eventually do the other bathroom there is no question that we will be calling Anthony to do that one. Again we are very happy and highly recommend Anthony!
Description of Work: This was a master bathroom remodel, Anthony removed and replaced the old floor tile, vanity, medicine cabinet, lights, shut off valve among other things. He also did a couple areas of dry wall repair.

When we wanted to remodel a small bathroom in our condo, we never thought twice about calling anyone else except Anthony Palermo, who, in 2009, had renovated most of the condo which we completely enjoy every time we're in West Palm Beach. Luckily, he had a few days to devote to our project and, once again, he did not disappoint us. The results can only be described as meticulous artistry accomplished by someone with "Golden Hands". Anthony is just the best and he is (somewhat) modest, besides! Anyone who doesn't select Anthony is really missing out because he is totally reasonable, trustworthy and dependable. He is a total perfectionist who has been blessed with real talent. What more could anyone ask for? If you can stand listening to the pop music radio station he turns on immediately upon starting work, everything will go super-well.
Description of Work: The project included removal of the old bathtub and shower surround, removal of tile, old vanity cabinet, mirror and lighting. New installations included all new green wallboards, new plumbing, new shower/tub including a grab bar, new marble tile walls, new vanity cabinets and a solution for the lighting which is far better than the previous one with dimmer and new electrical sockets.

Anthony came in exactly as scheduled to do some work for me in the garage. We had discussed a full days work but he charged me by the hour so when it took him less time than expected it cost me less, which was nice. He hung 4 shelves for me, two on a cement wall using the appropriate brackets. He also moved my washer and dryer into their final location since the installers had basically left them in the middle of the floor and fixed the dryer venting, which was improperly installed. He also installed a utility sink for me. When the sink turned out to be a little wobbly he went the extra step of adding additional screws to the legs at the top and screwing it into the floor to stabilize it. Finally I had some rubber garage tiles that had to be cut to fit under the dryerand without my even asking he cut everything to fit for me. It was a pleasure working with him and I will have him back again to install a flat screen tv as soon as I make my purchase.

Overall Anthony did an excellent job and I would recommend him to anyone. He was upfront about the price he charged and I must say again very professional and punctual.
Description of Work: I contacted Anthony Palermo (owner of Atlantic Shore Home Improvement) to perform some handyman services for me since I recently just bought my 1st home. I called him during the week of July 25th and during that same week Anthony himself came out and looked at the items that needed to done around the house and provided an estimate of $50/per hous plus materials. Some of the tasks that I needed were grouting in master and guest bathrooms, patching of some small and large size holes in various parts of the home, fixing the bricks on the driveway pavement, etc. Anthony informed it will only take 1.5 days to perform such services and he begins at 8am and finishes at 4pm. We then scheduled an appointment for August 4th and August 5th. Anthony was very punctucal and professional in all aspects. I must say he did an excellent job on all the items not to mention he did in fact took the 1.5 days to complete the work which he indicated when we first met. He also provided all the receipts for the purchases.

Anthony forgot to show up for our first estimate appointment. I called him and we agreed to try again the next day. No big deal. He did come the next day and looked at the drywall work I needed to have done and told me he would have to have his drywall guy come out to be able to quote it. A bit of a pain, but ok, no big deal. I finally set up a meeting with the drywall guy and he looked at the work and said he would have to work something up and go back thru Anthony. I never heard back from either of them. I wasted a lot of time and energy on this for nothing. I don't want to trash anybody, but Angies list will only work if people feed back real information.

This client caught me at a time when I was extremely busy. I uncharacteristically recommended someone else in order to have the client's needs satisfied. I usually do all the work myself in order to maintain top quality control. Sending someone else, not an employee since I work alone, was a mistake, as that person never did that job. I apologize for that error, and will not repeat that. If I'm too busy at the time a client calls, I will tell them that. They will then have the choice of waiting or going elsewhere.

Anthony rescued me from a bathroom remodel originally started by a "friend" in the business. It was a mess and I was into 5 months of mayhem. Within 1 day, Anthony had the project back on track and the project ended on a positive note. Again, Anthony came to my rescue when I needed base molding installed and was under a tight schedule to complete. I will absolutely use Anthony for every project I have. You will not find a more professional, detail oriented individual. Anthony also is very clean and tidy and does not leave a workplace messy and sloppy like so many tradesmen do. Anthony may not be the least expensive with his pricing; however, I found out the hard way, I would have saved money by hiring Anthony from the beginning. Instead, I incurred unnecessary expense by going with someone I thought could save me money. Do not be fooled by someone who can always do the job for less, because one way or another you will pay. Your job will be done correctly and on time with Anthony.

I was surprised at the cost! I hired Anthony, the owner, based on Angies's List recommendations, and was disappointed. The same day I spoke with him on the phone, he called back, asking if our appointment to evaluate the job was "today or tomorrow." I said, "today," and he eventually showed up. We had to re-schedule the work appointment due to a Dr's appointment, and he made a point of telling me thate he was "getting busy," needed to get my job done. He did hang the doors; both sets did not travel smoothly in upper tracks, I got WD40 and sprayed them, it was better. My husband said the tracks seemed pinched, corrected one himself. Anthony wasn't impressed with the quality of the doors. I asked him if he would use a quarter round molding along the baseboards after a hardwood flooring installation (We'd just had it done in the room where we stood.) He was insulted, disrespected that choice, said he'd never do that, and indicated that it was beneath his impeccable standards. He told us that he was renovating 2 condos in a tony area on the water in another community. His attitude assured us that he believed our "Mickey Mouse" job was unimportant, and a probably a nuisance. I think it's called, "attitude."
Description of Work: Removed 2 sets folding mirrored closet doors, hung two folding louvered doors in their place.

$125

Response from Atlantic Shore Home Improvement
This client did not cancel one appointment for a doctor's appointment, but a number of appointments, mostly because she said she did not have the money, including one where I arrived as scheduled and found no one home. The $125 she paid covered 2 1/2 hours of labor to do the work. She seemed to become offended when I let her know that the doors she had waiting for me to hang were extremely poor quality and would give her problems. Additionally, she asked about putting trim over a floor, like she had done in other rooms. I advised her that quality work would have meant removing the baseboards BEFORE having the floor laid THEN replacing them, and that was the only way I would do that kind of job. I believe in bending over backwards to satisfy my clients, but there are some that cannot be satisfied and don't especially like to hear the truth. Just check the balance of my 51 reports to see how satisfied those I do work for are.
