Hessenauer Sprinkler Repair & Irrigation

After the second visit, the timer was still not set perfectly. The tech passed me over to the owner, who called. He said it sounded like valve trouble and since they had not done any valve work, I did not merit another visit. He would have to schedule me for the middle of June. I said "never mind." I cannot believe the unprofessionalism and last of customer service of this company since my last use of them. The problem turned out to be simply not setting the timer correctly, which my brother was able to do in a couple of minutes. I will never call this company again.

I realize Hessenauer is one of Angie's lists A-rated companies so before submitting this report, I sent the company a letter on May 22, 2011 along with the disputed payment and a letter that says much of what I am putting in this report. My check was cashed May 27th, and as of this date (June 5th), I have received no response to my letter or any sort of apology from Hessenauer. On April 19, 211, Sterling came out to repair my system, repaired a wire, installed the Orange County mandated rain gauge, and replaced some broken sprinkler heads. I mentioned that there was one head ?in front of the fence? that was sticking up and not going back into the ground. My mistake, which I acknowledge, was not going out to the yard and pointing out the exact location of the stuck head and Sterling believed it was another head in the yard. When I returned home that evening, I found the head stuck up and realized this head had not been fixed. I had paid $186.00 at that time for this service. I called the office the next day about this issue. I indicated, both to the office manager and to Sterling, that if I did not want to incur an additional labor charge for this one head, and if there was going to be a labor charge, I would just leave things as they were and continue to manually stick the head back in the ground. I was left with the understanding that there would not be a labor charge and that Sterling would call when he was in my area next and fix the head. I got a call from Sterling on April 25, 2011 that he was in the area and he fixed the head. When I received the bill in the mail, there was an additional $70.00 labor charge. (The total bill was $88.25). The main problem came when I called the office to question the bill (I was not questioning the replacement charge for the sprinkler head, only the labor charge). The office manager, who up until this point has always been very polite, constantly interrupted me and implied I was misrepresenting the facts. She indicated she would speak with Sterling on this issue. I did speak with Sterling and also conveyed how upset I was with the way I was treated over the telephone. He indicated he would check with the office manager and call me back, but I never received a return call. To me at this point, paying the additional $70.00 charge was less upsetting than the implication that I was trying to pull something to get out of paying a bill that I rightfully owe. That is not who I am. This implication offends me and also, sadly, leaves me with a great reluctance to call Hessenauer for any needs in the future. This whole situation has greatly upset me and I no longer feel comfortable dealing with Hessenauer's office manager, and given the way I was treated when I questioned the bill, I also would be extremely reluctant to call if there was any issue with any repair work done. On May 22nd, I mailed the total $88.25 payment to Hessenauer along with a letter that says pretty much what I have put in this report. My check was cashed May 27th, and I have not received any other response from Hessenauer. Member's Reply to Provider's Response below: I stand by the facts submitted in the initial report and specially emphasize that the call to Hessenauer on the stuck head was the next day after the initial visit and not "a week or so later." I feel that I am owed an apology for the way I was treated when I [honestly] questioned the invoice, not a further attack on my credibility.

Sterling was on time and got right to work. He replaced a busted sprinkler head in the front yard, and also discovered a cracked pipe further down the same head (which was causing low pressure from the other heads in the specific zone). Recommended simple adjustments that helped save water and money. Couldn't have been more happy with his honesty and professionalism. Will highly recommend to friends & neighbors in need of sprinkler repairs.

We had a great experience with Hessenauer. After our initial call where we spoke to Emma who was very helpful and kind, we quickly received a follow-up call from Sterling to set up an appointment time which we set up for 2 days later. He arrived when expected, listened to our concerns, and wasted no time getting to work. He checked our system and ended up replacing some heads, adjusting others and moving some heads when they needed to be moved due to vegetation growth since the last check-up. He helped us figure out how long we should be watering certain zones in the yard (it turns out we were watering a bit more than we should). He was very nice, informed, and clearly knows what he is doing. We would definitely use Hessenauer again and will recommend them to friends!

We have had years of sprinklers not working and Sterling replaced our pump and many of the sprinkler heads. He also regulated the spray so as not to hit the house. He was polite, professional and punctual. He was informative about the new pump and helped make our decision to replace it easier. We would use the company again.

I called the company that had previously done this type of repair for me and they quoted $900 and indicated the timer and valves would all need to be replaced. On a lark I called Hessenauer since they were top-rated here. Stirling (service man) was incredibly professional, replaced the timer, and told me that was all I needed. They saved me over $600 and the system works perfectly. They also have a program where they'll come out on a regular basis (you pick the interval) and ensure the system is working and make any necessary adjustments. I don't have to be home for this and they just mail me the bill.

Ian was wonderful! It was raining outside when he got there but it was expected to rain all day so he went right to work. He started out installing a new rain sensor and told us it would take about an hour. After that he checked all of the sprinklers and told us that at least 7 would need to be replaced because the seals and gaskets were deteriorated. The house was recently purchased and the irrigation system had obviously not been updated since initial instillation. We told Ian to go ahead and replace whatever was needed. He worked 2 1/2 hours in a steady rain. He was very professional and courteous and we will definitely use him again for all of our lawn irrigation needs.

It went very smoothly! They delivered everything as promised. Ian (owner) and his staff were very knowledgeable and professional. The redesigned system works great! I'm extremely happy with the work.

From start to finish, a positive experience. Emma was informative on the telephone and Streling was top notch estimating the project and the performing the work professionaly and in a reasonable amount of time. Price was around the other estimate I'd gotten and then 10% better with the Angie's list discount. I'll use them again.

After gathering 3 estimates, Ian with Hessenauer was professional, responsive and had the most reasonable quote. They arrived at 7 am and were finished at 6 pm. They did a great job and our new sod will be well watered with our new sprinkler system!

I used them for one property I own and thought enough of the work that I used them again on my own property. Would call this company again in the future.

I went on Angie's List and found Hessenauer Irrigation Company. Their reviews were very good with over a hundred reports (alll good). I decided to call them and as it turned out, Ian (the owner of the company), was in the area and was able to come to our house in about a half an hour. He evaluated the problem, decided to take a specific course of action. He repaired the system, replacing sprinkler heads, etc. and was willing to do even more if we asked it of him. I think think this guy is great and would recommend him to anyone in Central Florida

They are always very reliable and very timely. They were pleasant to work with. I would use them again.

Very prompt and professional organization and would highly recommend this company. A couple hundred higher than two other estimates received, but worth the extra $$$. Very prompt in all phases and facets. Started each day (two day job) at 0745 in the morning as they said would be their start time. Great clean up after job was complete.

The tech arrived on time, I showed him the sprinklerhead that need capped and he took care of the job quickly and professionally.

Ian is always on time and professional. He knows his job in detail and we always go back to him to get the job done right. His prices are reasonable and he never leaves a mess. A real pro who is a pleasure to work with.

I've had Sterling out for repairs in the past, and he always does a first rate job. This company is really good to work with.

Went well. Only complaint is I left work early and they were about an hour late, but they did show up after hours and did the work. The tech was very knowledgeable an efficient diagnosing and taking care of the problem. I would definitely call again.

It went extremely well. Was overly impressed with not only the professionalism but also the knowledge transfer. Took the time to breakdown what was occurring and what we needed to done and why-- was extremely articulate at breaking down the complex into layman's terms. As I try to only go by word of mouth when it comes to repairs such as these. I really believe in the saying - "Your actions are speaking so loudly I cannot hear what you are saying." I would recommend these folks in a heartbeat. I am definitely planning on using them again in the future!

Things could not have gone better. We were suffering from an extensive underground irrigation pipe leak which could not be detected two weeks before by an "expert" who had worked on our property before. Sterling, our assigned technician, arrived this afternoon, on time, and was extremely courteous, personable and professional. Unbelievably (to us) after five minutes of background talk with us and another ten minutes of walking the yard, he found the leak, dug down to the pipe, repaired the break, and then meticulously restored the lawn. This man and his company are really outstanding.

You can tell they are a competent company when you first call their office. Then Sterling called me and set up a convenient appointment time of 7:30am for me. He arrived on time. We walked through what needed to be done and I was able to get off to work. He did everything needed at a fair price.

They arrived as promised and completed the work in a day. We are now getting better coverage than we expected. We are expecting to be using less water now since the sprinklers are properly adjusted.

Arrived on time and completed the work ahead of schedule. This is not your ordinary contractor. They do what they promise, when the promise, at the price they promise. Heartily recommend them.

HE CAME QUICKLY TO GIVE US AN ESTIMATE. IT TOOK A LITTLE TIME TO GET THE ESTIMATE, BUT IA SSUME THAT WAS BECAUSE THEY WERE BEING VERY THOROUGH' STERLING DID AN EXCELLENT JOB REROUTING OUR SYSTEM, LOWERING HEADS AND REPLACING HEADS. WE WILL USE HIM AGAIN
