+ -1 moreInitially, I engaged Gracewood on Oct 6 to address wood damage and rotting wood caused by condensation within my carport, originating from A/C pipes. Despite their assurances and subsequent repairs, the problem persisted. On July 15th, I discovered water damage and early signs of mold reappearing on the repaired boards. Concerned, I promptly reached out to Gracewood via phone and left a voicemail, seeking assistance to resolve the issue. I never received a response back. Two days later, I emailed the Gracewood. In response to my concerns, I received a dismissive email, indicating that their contract did not cover A/C line repairs, despite these repairs being conducted without proper resolution of the underlying issue. Moreover, their mention of a 6-month warranty was never communicated during our interactions, adding to the lack of transparency in their business dealings. Furthermore, the cleanup after their repairs was subpar, leaving me with additional work to tidy up their mess. Including numerous nails in the yard and in our driveway. Overall, my experience with Gracewood has been highly unsatisfactory due to their inability to effectively address the root cause of the problem, poor communication regarding warranty terms, and inadequate cleanup practices. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Gracewood for home repair services.

+ -1 moreI made the mistake of not checking here for reviews. They scratched the heck out of the closet door tracks. Al blamed that on the quality of the doors and then on me for not telling the crew to read the directions first. He fired me as a customer for complaining to him about the quality of work. I deal with a lot of subs and contractors, I wish Al the best, but I would stay away from him. He seems more like a con-artist than a contractor.

+ 0 moreThe owner met with wife and recommended a very labor intensive solution (expensive). When tech arrived we agreed on a much simpler job, but not a price. I ask the owner be notified of change and that I felt it was a less expensive. When the job was completed the owner refused to consider a lower payment. Al the owner will never have a chance to bid another job for me. Be very careful of this company.

+ 5 moreGracewood Enterprises Inc is super. I don't think they are cheap but they are competitive. Their work was excellent and everybody who came into the house was neat and they picked up after themselves and they were nice people.
Description of Work: I used Gracewood Enterprises Inc. They did painting the interior of my house, dry wall repair, cabinetry, screen repair, they did some caulking, they put a new drain in my sink and touched up that cabinet, they varnished my base cabinets and cleaned my fireplace.

+ -1 moreAl met me on 4/3/13 quoted the job. We agreed on a price, I signed a proposal to commence the work. Al told me he would start the beginning of the next week 4/7 or 8th. I drove past the property on 4/13 noticed no work had been done. Called him on 4/15 to ask why, Al stated the rain backed him up and he might get to the work the end of the week ending 4/18ish. I'm not sure what rain Al was referring to since it only rained in Downtown Orlando on 4/14. The upsetting park it that Al never called to say he was running behind or update me on the repairs progress. I had to call him to get an update. I cancelled my job with Al due to poor communication and unprofessionalism.
Description of Work: Repair/Replace exterior wood window trim on 3 windows as well as repair a damaged truss that hangs over the driveway. Replace with pressure treated wood, caulk, prime and paint. Total quote $570 + materials.

+ -1 moreMr Phaneuf, owner of Gracewood Enterprises, came to our house and gave the estimate. It was in line with others we had received. We accepted and work began 2 weeks later. The crew that was sent were courteous and punctual. The popcorn surface was removed. The first sign of trouble came when I questioned the crew as to why all the joints were not being repaired. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" was basically the response. As an uneducated homeowner, I mistakenly accepted this reasoning. The job was completed and paid for. Nine months later I noticed some minor separations at the tape joints. After four more months passed I noticed the separations were becoming more noticeable and numerous. I called Mr Phaneuf to explain the problem. He said he would stop by to take a look in a few days. When I called him back to arrange a time he informed me that he had "changed his mind" about coming. "Sorry, the warranty is up", he added. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. His written response in part read, "There is no guarantee for this kind of work past 90 days". It's hard to believe any contractor would put in writing that his work was only good for 90 days. A lesson learned. There are so many reputable hard working contractors out there, especially in this challenging economy. Look a little harder and bypass Al Phaneuf and Gracewood Enterprises.

+ 0 moreNot happy, will not use this contractor in the future and do not recommend him to anyone. I have also seen that he has had 3 reports on the BBB in the last 3 years as well as bad reviews here on Angies list and on google reviews.
Description of Work: My husband called Al who came out and gave us an estimate on some handy work around the house. I found the prices extremely high and called Al to discuss, he was not interested in negotiating the price and said the price is what it is. I took off some painting work which I could do myself and we went ahead with the other work which cost around $500. He did not do the work himself, but sent contractors out who performed the job in an ok manner. They finished this job, but they had to be called back as some things were not done right, which they did after a couple of phone calls. My husband then asked Al if they could fix the wooden leg of a couch which had stripped off. Unfortunately, my husband did not get a price upfront for this but he thought he could trust Al. The guy came and fixed the stripped leg, (replacing the leg NOT in the original corner of the couch, but along the side !) . When we received the invoice for the couch job ..... it was horrific - I could have practically gone out and bought another couch for the price I was charged! I was not happy and called Al to ask why it was priced at $195! Al was not interested, and told me I had an attitude. I found him rude, unprofessional and downright ripoff! My husband sent Al the cheque for $195 for the rip off couch, much to my disguist as when I spoke with Al, he said, "that is the price, you either pay it or you don't!" I don't need to deal with contractors like Al and will do my homework in the future, I would NOT recommend this rip off to anyone.

+ 0 moreI had a strange experience with this person. The owner shows up, gives me an estimate, is unusually unfriendly and then doesn't want to do the work. He refused to bend on his prices which I thought were a bit high. I called several times and he would not return my calls or schedule service. I am only left to surmise that the job was not large enough. Either way, the owner was flippant and uncharacteristically unfriendly. I would not recommend this business.

+ 1 moreDo not hire Al and his incompetent subcontractors. We learned a hard lesson from this guy!
Description of Work: Al came out to quote on a large replace drywall, carpentry trim, paint and cabinet install job. He would show up at the job whenever he needed money but not to inspect his subs work. He had a crew of subcontractors, one of whom quit before the carpentry was complete. His electrician would come and tell a very inexperienced apprentice how to rewire our kitchen. to this day we have three outlets which do not function and small halogen can lights that flicker. The apprentice fell through the kitchen ceiling which required us to replace with new drywall. He then almost fell through the garage ceiling which left a crack in the drywall. This same apprentice was also the new door installer. Our door lock from our garage to the outside is not seated properly so in the cold weather I have to use a wrench to turn the deadbolt. The pocket door in the Family room which they had replaced the track on has come off the new track. Now we will have to open the wall up again to have it repaired. Al came by after we had paid him in full. While he was at the house he just happened to receive a call from a prospective client who he then gave the phone to me to give a recommendation. We spent way too much and our renovations are still not complete.

Al Phaneuf lied to me and caused me the damages and loss of 5 days after verbally agreeing to do some finishing work on my condo after inspecting the premises twice on 09/11/09 then reneging on 09/15/09 after assuring me work would start on 09/14/09 that work would start the next day. However, without even the common courtesy of a call, Al Phaneuf, responded to my call on the day of commencement of work because he didn't like that I sent him a 09/14/09 a formal proposal in writing to describe that the contracted work. Al Phaneuf is not a man of his word and not a man of integrity. He has failed to do what he agreed to do and hurt my family without any remorse at all. Al Phaneuf should not be trusted and any consideration of using Gracewood Enterprises, Inc. should proceed with maximum caution as this man and company have proven to be unreliable and untrustworthy.
Description of Work: Paint, handyman small projects with door, walls, wall prep, texturing etc.
