Provider stated that 90% of the roof was in bad conditions. Therefore must be replaced. He did not show me any pictures or explain in detail the condition of the roof. Instead he proceeded to offer a very bad sales pitch about new shingle roof. the inspection of the roof was free, but the cost of new roof will be approximately 70, 000 dollars.

Because we are retired the decision to hire a company to replace our roof was critical. Dave Perrault from Collis Roofing helped make our decision very easy. He presented the options available to reroof and together we found the right roof color and warranty plans to go with our budget. He also took it upon himself to help us file on our 25-year warranty on the existing roof to help defray some of the expense. Dave also referred us to a company for a wind mitigation inspection to help with our homeowners insurance. His easy manner, customer first attitude and extensive knowledge on roofing was one of the major deciding factors in going with Collis Roofing. The process took three days and every day someone from Collis Roofing contacted us to make sure everything was being done to our satisfaction. The roof is beautiful and we have had three neighbors go with Collis Roofing for their roofing needs after we described our re roofing experiences with Collis. I noticed water damage in one of my bathrooms ceiling. I called Collis Roofing to ask them to take a look. I thought there was a defect but it turned out squirrels made a meal of the lead boots over the plumbing ventilation pipes. Justin came by to discuss the matter and showed up on time. Collis Roofing sent two men to do the work and they were very professional.

Our Collis rep, Brian Hammond, knocked on my door after a hail storm in my area and asked to take a look at our roof. Knowing the roof was older and would need to be replaced soon I was skeptical he could do anything but told him to go ahead. Brian said there was definite damage and suggested we file a claim with our homeowners. Brian came out when the adjustor was here and walked him through everything that he saw. In the end our insurance company paid for full replacement along with other damages to our home and screen house. After negotiating with Collis, we had them perform the following services: new roof, install of 2 solar vents, rescreen of screen house and window screens, installation of gutters, and a full exterior house paint job. The work took a bit longer than anticipated (primarily due to rain storms - not contractor problems) and we did have some trouble with communication (our rep was handling about 70 roofing jobs at the time) but overall we were thrilled with the outcome. Our house now looks really beautiful and the combination of the lighter colored roof and solar vents has noticeably reduced our electric bill! I would definitely use Collis again and would recommend them to anyone.

It seemed to go very well. When it was over the salesman came an got on top of the roof to inspect it. He saw some things he as was not pleased with. A solar vent had been put on the roof and my husband noticed it was turned in the wrong direction to catch the sun and mentioned that to the salesman. I had noticed that the ridge vent looked a little strange but our salesman noticed that as well. It had not been put on exactly straight. Also the flashing had not been painted white in order to blend in with our white aluminum siding. Within a matter of days these things were corrected.
Description of Work: We had three estimates done for a new roof.Collis was the first people we called. I was impressed with the throughness of what we were told they were going to do and also with the samples he showed us of materials they would use. He showed us material they would use and did use to go under the shingles that looked water proof and that had an adhesive coating on it which looked to be much better than the normal felt as well as pictures of the shingle selection. The next two people we talked to did not impress us so even though Collis was the most expensive we felt they would do a better job. We are pleased.

The quote was part of our real estate contract and Collis would not honor the quote. We called several times from Sept 2011 to July 2012 and they kept telling us they would call us back. They did not return a single call and the farther away from the initial quote they told us it would be more expensive. No services were performed due to the fact they would not come out or return phone calls. I would not recommend this company. It is my opinion that they gave a fraudulent quote which then negatively impacted my real estate contract and the work is still not done

I contacted Collis Roofing for an estimate on June 28th and they set the appointment for the estimator to come to my house between 8 and 11 a.m. on July 5th. At 11:30 on the 5th the estimator had not arrived so I contacted the office to find out when he might be there. After placing me on hold for awhile they came back on the line and said that they were checking into it, verified my phone number and stated they would call me right back. I have never received a call back.

The crews were on time both days and worked hard and cleaned up after each day. The supervisor was there one hour after the start of the job and we went over what I expected again. He gave me a card and was available for my few questions. They repaced drip edge and roof pipe vents, things we did not discuss and all was done for the quoted price.The inspector who did the final inspection noted how good Collis's reputation was and how well my roof was done. Called Collis to get an estimate on Seamless gutters, the person who took my call was friendly and said she would have to send my information to the person who covered my area. He did call the next day, he said he would be out the following day, he never showed I finally got in touch with him and he said he had to go to a different job to see what was going on. He later called and said due to rain he wasnt going to be able to measure my house...totally understood. He said he would be out the next day before noon. Noon came and went and I didnt here from him, I texted him and about 2 hours later received a response saying he had something come up and promised it would be the next day. There isn't going to be a next day.

When Joe Graham arrived to assess our leak, he determined that in fact we had hail damage from a recent storm. He arrived early to meet our insurance adjuster. He knew what the requirements were for the claim to be successful and mapped out areas on the roof that qualified. Permits were pulled and the repair was completed as scheduled and with excellent quality. The crew did a decent job of cleanup; we did find a few stray nails here and there the magnetic roller missed. We recently had a Wind Mitigation survey conducted and the roof passed, saving us a whopping $600/year on our homeowners insurance.

They were very true to what they told me when they came out and talked about what they were going to do. They were on time. They kept me up to date when they had to add additional plywood to my roof, which was an additional cost. They sent out their inspector to make sure everything was going as it should be. Since they did not want to rush the work, they extended it to another day, which I appreciated. They cleaned up very well. I have a lot of plants around my house. Inevitably, some of them were damaged from things coming off the roof during the course of the work. I pointed out the damaged plants and they reimbursed me for the plants that were damaged by taking it off my final bill. The chimney had to be painted after it was re-framed and they recommended someone to me. He was very good. I ended up using him for some other things around the house. I would highly recommend them to anyone that needs to have a re-roof. I did get other estimates and for the work they did and for the price I paid they were the best choice. The person that originally came to talk to me about the estimate was very very thorough. He went over various options and went over what he thinks would look best on my house. He took time to answer numerous questions and really go over everything well with me.

2-10-2012: After a minor rain storm on Friday night we found out that Collis still has not repaired our roof correctly. We have had 3 other roofers come out without advising them of anything that happened in the past and was informed that the flashing was done wrong around the chimney and that the shingles that were put on were not nailed down and over an inch apart from one another. This is the samne exact work that Collis was supposed to have done correctly in 2008 and again in 2011. Now, my insurance has gone up due to the water claim that I had to file in 2011 for the next 3 years and we are having to pay another roofing company to fix the issue that Collis created. We would rather pay another roofer to fix it properly than have to deal and fight with Collis under the warranty. Please BEWARE of htis company...they are nice in the beginning until you ask them to correct something they did! 2-20-2012: The only reason why I am entertaining a response to the company's response is to further educate the other members on this company. First, we advised your company and Stephanie last October that there was no emergency number and that was the reason why we had to call an EMERGENCY crew to our home on the weekend. It was raining for 2 days and thewinds were very high so neither myself or my husband felt comfortable being on therrof and since the water was POURING IN we had to call someone to help us. If the work was properly done the first time (which even your guy laughed at what was not done properly) I never would have had an EMERGENCy crew to my home and I am refering to the original problem in this report. Second, I have ALL the paperwork from when we purchased the roof and no where does it state I HAD to use Collis for an emergency. In fact , the warranty is very plain so you may want to revise it. Third, the only reason why we have had other contractors on our roof this past time was because we could not believe that a "big" company would not fix the same exact situation as before. And yes, the same problem was not fixed so we are spending our own money to have it fixed right instead of dealing with the rudeness and harshness of your compnay and the employees AGAIN. Please do not turn this situation into the customer was at fault. The problem was in your company and we are only helping others in making the right decision.
Description of Work: Collis replaced my roof 9/2008. During the storms of Oct 2011 we had water damage in our living room and our front bedroom. We had an emergency crew come and tarp our roof. We called Collis on the next business day (they are not open on weekends or have an emergency #) and advised of situation. Collis confirmed that their workmanship was faulty but because we had someone other than them put on the tarp they were denying the claim under my warranty. It took us weeks of fighting (and the staff was completely rude)and threatening lawsuits to get them to agree to cover their warranty. I will NEVER use them or refer them since it was their faulty workmanship that put me through 2 1/2 months of a claim that I should not have gone through.

Thank you for taking the time to address your concerns with our company. First of all, I would like to apologize for the experience that you have had. We recently upgraded our phone system and it appears that the option for an emergency leak has been taken off of the automated answering system that is used when our office is closed. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are currently working to resolve the issue. In regards to the warranty on our work, the only portion that we did not cover free of charge was the repair of dozens of nail holes that were put into the roof by another company. We are not perfect, but have an outstanding record of correcting our mistakes in a timely manner and going above and beyond what is required in order to do so. This happens when people follow the extremely clear instructions on both their roofing contract and the warranty that is given when the job is complete. Collis Roofing is a very large company and performs approximately 8-10 thousand roof jobs per year and maintains an A+ rating with the BBB largely due to the way that we handle our mistakes. The fact is that clearly written instructions to file a warranty claim were not followed and there has now been a total of 4 other "contractors" on the roof, the first of which put approximately 60 holes in the roof in order to secure a tarp incorrectly. This entire situation could have been avoided completely if we were given an opportunity to fix our mistake as our contract and warranty allow us to do. If you will allow us the opportunity to send a production manager to your property, we will be happy to address any further concerns that you have with the installation. We can only move forward from here and even though it has been a poor experience for you up to this point, we would still like the opportunity to ensure that you have a quality installation and restored piece of mind.

8/3/2011- I had an appointment to meet with someone to give me an estimate. He comes 1hr 1/2 early to say he can't give me an estimate as his computer battery died. He took roof measurements and that's it. Now I wait for the estimate. On 8/5/2011 I called the Office and asked when I could expect my estimate. I was told the guy who came to my house would call me right back. Here i sit a day later and no phone call. I shouldn't have to beg for people to want my business, so they just lost mine.

called for repair on the tile roof they installed. Could only get an appointment more than 3 weeks out. When the estimator came out, he didn't go up on the roof, said my 50 year warranty was only applicable to manufacturer defect, and would fax me an estimate the next day. When I hadn't received anything for a week, I called (the estimator) every day and my calls were not returned, but eventually, when he actually answered the phone, he emailed me the estimate. I thought it was reasonable for what we had discussed, signed, dated and faxed it back. Didn't hear again about scheduling, started calling every day again, and again my calls were not returned. Finally I called the company, spoke to a supervisor (owner/manager?) ,was told they had no paperwork for me, so I faxed AND emailed it again and was told the scheduler would call at the beginning of the week for work to subsequently begin. Was never contacted, so I emailed and faxed a letter of cancellation.

On March 30, 2011 a wind storm occurred in Central Florida that caused the most roof damage since the hurricanes of 2004. The following day, Collis Roofing received thousands of phone calls and just as many online requests for estimates. As hard as we try, in these types of situations our estimators and service technicians are typically working 12-16 hour days to try to keep up and do not always succeed in providing the excellent customer service that the people of Central Florida have come to expect from Collis Roofing. We successfully complete approximately 12,000 roof jobs per year and occasionally some people do slip through the cracks. We are constantly working to improve and to try to make those cracks smaller so that these types of things do not happen. We have hired on 4 new employees in our customer service call center in the last 2 months and are seeing very positive results in response time and customer satisfaction. Collis Roofing did not become the largest residential roofing contractor in Central Florida by providing poor customer service. While we are not perfect and do make mistakes, we constantly strive to be the best. The general contractor brought in a roofer and they did a nice job. They showed up when they were supposed to and worked under difficult conditions. I don't know if you remember, last spring we had a couple of days when it was extremely windy with 45 miles an hour wind, and these guys were up on my roof doing the roofing during all this and its blowing all over the place and they were fighting it and did a nice job. Even the inspector remarked. I thought the price was fair. I didn't price it out that much; I went with the general contractor, so I don’t know what is out there.
Description of Work: We got the roof repaired by Collis Roofing last spring. They replaced all the shingles and what not and repaired some of the boards.

It took them 12 weeks to complete and the experience was awful. They'd had the biggest ad in the phone book and I thought that meant reputable. They stripped the roof and left it exposed. I'd given them 1/2 down and left for vacation. During my trip I called a neighbor to ask how my new roof looked and she informed me that they'd stripped it and wood was exposed and tar paper was blowing. Five weeks later, and after much arguing, they informed me that the shingles I selected were suddenly not available. They job, once completed was awful. I had 2 leaks immediately and they didn't clean up anything afterward. I had nails in my yard forever. I didn't pay them the full amount. The best part was they'd left a hole in the peak. I didn't know that till a family of squirrels had moved in. It cost me $1200.00 to rid the squirrel problem. This whole process was a nightmare. It was costly, left me with many headaches and arguments, cost me a lot of exterminating money and I would warn anyone from hiring them. I called the building inspector to ask how he was able to approve the completion. I asked why he didn't go on the roof to look at it. He said they weren't allowed to go up ladders!! I couldn't believe it! They just look and slap a sticker on it.
