I contacted my insurance company, filed a claim and made an appointment with their inspector at a date and time supposedly acceptable to the Collis inspector. When I called the Collis inspector to inform him of the arrangement he told me that he would be unavailable; but would have somebody from his office fill in for him. Nobody from Collis showed up, and the insurance inspector did a thorough inspection. On 02/18/2016, the insurance agent called me, told me that their inspector did NOT find hail damage, and denied my claim. I called the Collis inspector to inform him of that development and what the appeal would require. The Collis inspector agreed to support the process; but I never heard from him again despite a few phone call messages to him. on 02/29/2016 I entered into a contract with an Angie's List "A" rated Roofing Contractor, and work is now in progress.
Description of Work: Collis estimator/inspector inspected my roof when he was in our neighborhood for a similar hail damage inspection for a neighbor. on 01/13/2016. The result of his inspection was that we did have "hail damage", and he verbally confirmed that when I pointedly asked him. The Collis inspector told me the basic procedure, file a claim and he would be available to show the insurance company inspector the hail damage and also act as my "representative" during that inspection.

Response from Collis Roofing
Collis Roofing is the most trusted roofing contractor in the state for ethics. Collis Roofing holds two board positions with the CFRSA which is an organization dedicated to both consumer awareness, protection and resources regarding unethical practices by licensed and unlicensed roofing contractors, and the CFRSA also is dedicated to the ongoing ethical, safety and education practices within the industry including contractors, suppliers, insurance, manufacturers, home inspectors and more. Collis Roofing has also been an active member of the FRSA, the state level chapter of the same education. Collis Roofing, in addition to charitable donations to numerous nonprofits in the communities they serve, has been covered and looked to for ethical advice for consumers by numerous TV, radio and newspapers for their dedication to ethics and the promotion of ethics for both consumers and roofers. Collis Roofing has provided safety and ethics training to other roofing contractors in the state free of charge in order to promote ethics in the community, not just their own company employees. In the case of Mr. [Member Name Removed], the Collis Roofing estimator is a long standing, highly experienced, factory certified company employee. The estimator documented legitimate storm damage. In many cases, inspectors from various insurance companies may deny legitimate claims for reasons that may be due to things such as, but not limited to: 1. Paying out too many illegitimate claims to companies such as Jasper Roofing, JEA Roofing and ELR Roofing who have been covered by the news, sometimes with hidden cameras creating false claims. 2. The inspector may not have the training to recognize the damage and needs an engineer to come out. 3. Some inspectors do not go on the roof for fear of height, some have even crawled. We recommend that in regards to the amount of increased claim numbers that consumers watch a video clip of CBS news discussing the amount of claims rise and the lack of increase in weather that could contribute storms on our home page at [hyperlink removed] or on YouTube at https://youtu.be/EtIV5UyllkM At the time of this inspection, our employee was out of the state on a family vacation and was unable to be there to assess any issues regarding how the inspection was conducted. Ultimately, Collis Roofing advises the customer that they have options to pursue the claim if they want by involving an attorney at no cost to the homeowner or business owner, a third party engineer and other resources which have almost 100% success rate because we never provide insurance companies with fraudulent claims and there are no records by insurance showing we have supplied any fraudulent claims in over 20 years. If the homeowner does not wish to pursue the claim, then Collis Roofing's policy is to respect that and offer a bid that can be paid by either cash, check or with a variety of financing options through Collis Roofing. All procedures to this were followed and the homeowner said he did not wish to pursue this, and Collis Roofing respected the homeowner's decision entirely and continues to respect his decision not to have a 3rd party, objective expert investigate in the matter.

Hello [Member Name Removed], Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are glad to hear that the work performed was done well, and we sincerely apologize for any nails that may have been left behind. Using a magnet is standard protocol. We hope you will alert us in the future much sooner should you have any issues, so we can respond immediately versus almost two years later. We hope that should we have the opportunity to do additional work for you because of your satisfaction with your roof, that you will allow us to show you that we will do a significantly better job in clean up. We want to always leave you with the best experience possible, and should anything go amiss, please let us know as soon as possible!

The work was being commissioned from out of state, so there were some hiccups, but overall the work was done professionally and well. Some additional sheets of plywood were needed, and the roofers are not shy about billing in accordance with the contract for any estimate overages, so be sure you have an idea of what the "all-in" cost will be.

The representative was nice and he estimated a repair price verbally. When we got the final cost it was almost twice as much as his statement with no consideration for their part of the problem. Not very accurate or professional. How the office can override their representative without looking at the project is beyond me. Do not assume that they will keep their word on a warranty or a verbal estimate
Description of Work: The company replaced our roof 4 years ago. Recently we had a chimney problem and they came out to check it. Their representative thoroughly checked it and said some the problem was partly their fault but most of the damage was just wear over time causing the leaks.

We have asked that Angie's List contact the customer to confirm the property address, because we have no record of this person in our system and do not service the address on the review as it is out of state. After my husband called Collis Roofing back twice to schedule an appointment, I called Collis Roofing and asked for Joe G. listed in Angie's List as their point of contact. Natalie answered the phone and said Joe G. "he no longer works here". I explained to Natalie my husband and I were disappointed when their business was not able to schedule an estimate appointment at this time. The scheduler who was suppose to call back after lunch went home ill. Their roofing manager would not be back in their office till Thursday. We were looking forward to getting a Collis estimate prior to Thursday but no body else could schedule an appointment. Her response was "that's fine". I said "thank you" and hung up the phone. My experience is Collis Roofing is understaffed. I wish Natalie would have been the one to say "thank you for calling". We're calling another roofing company for an appointment now.

Hi [Member Name Removed], I am sorry to hear about your experience. We do have schedulers for each department, and this scheduler is responsible for 6 of our roof replacement estimators. This helps ensure that they can be at each appointment with enough time so as not to rush our customers with whom they are with, have a safe amount of driving time and be sure that they can also not overschedule when they have factory, safety or staff trainings. While no one plans on becoming ill, we do have a sick policy that allows staff members to leave should they or a dependent family member are not feeling well. Sometimes this may conflict with a vacation or a someone who is out of town on a training with a factory or for a field certification, but we do believe in allowing our staff to get the care they or a dependent needs. I understand that you tried asking for Joe G, who we have asked Angie's List to update for about a year and have recently asked once again that this be updated immediately so that there is no additional confusion. In regards to the customer service representative, we have spoken with her. While she cannot schedule when the manager or scheduler are out because she does not have access, she could have taken your information for when the scheduler was returned. We hope that you will consider Collis Roofing in the future, as we we have one of the largest staff in the state of Florida and the highest factory certifications, and we do care about providing you with a better experience.

We had a roof installed on our house approximately twelve years ago by Collis Roofing. We were very impressed by how fast they were, their professionalism, cleanup, their price. Top notch, nobody could beat Collis Roofing. About two years later we had a leak in our utility room, we called Collis Roofing. They came right out, repaired it with roofing tar and left. Now it is 12 years later (after original install, around 2002-03). We have two leaks in the utility room, catching rain in plastic pans. I called Collis Roofing around the first of January to get someone here to give us an estimate, I was a little shocked when the woman gave me an appointment for Feb. 10, 2015. She told me they had grown so much they were having a problem with getting to everyone. Two men came on Feb10. saw our problem my husband told them we want to have the area of the utility room replaced. Because of the problems we have had, we think this would be the best fix. They said we would have an estimate in two to three days, it has been 9 days since they were here, No estimate yet. Now I must get another roofer to fix my roof. We are not too upset with Collis Roofing, they were wonderful, twelve years ago. We knew they would become one of the best.
Description of Work: Came to our house to give us an estimate. When they left we were told we would have the estimate in a couple days. Nine days later, nothing.

Ms. [Member Name Removed], Thank you for letting us know about your experience a year ago. We wish we had to opportunity to know about it a year sooner, so we could have addressed your concerns in a more timely manner. All of the Collis Roofing team were professional, polite, and excellent at what they did. The initial salesman who helped us choose our shingles very patiently asked questions to make sure he knew what we wanted and then gave us a good education on roofs without putting pressure on us to buy. The roofers actually were able to do the roof sooner than projected, but checked with us to make sure starting earlier would be OK. When I had questions and concerns, it didn't matter which worker or overseer I talked to, I was always treated with the utmost respect and patience. The team did well at communicating what was going on all along the way in the process. They were quick and efficient. My original gutter installer did a poor job and didn't install flashing in certain areas of the roof where he should have. The Collis team noticed that and when they reinstalled the old gutters, they added in flashing in those areas where it should have been in the first place. They did a better job than the original installer. They did such a good job of putting back those old gutters that they looked more or less like new, even though they are over 20 years old. They resealed the gutters to make sure they wouldn't leak. We've had a good rain since then and none of the gutters leaked. They did an excellent job of cleaning up after afterwards. We were absolutely pleased with both their work and their treatment of us as their customers. The roof looks great.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced shingles - using 40 squares of shingles. As part of the job they removed 20 year-old gutters and put them back up again after they were done.

I was getting quotes from several companies. I had purchased the home with the understanding that the original roof would have to be replaced. There was a hail storm in 2013 that hit our area, and while I didn't think the damage was bad, I mentioned it to the Collis estimator and I have to say, he's the reason we got a roof. I'm insured with AAA for the home and the auto....high marks to them....within a week, they had agreed with Collis and the roof was approved. I really think it was the strength of the Collis estimator and his knowledge of my insurer that made the process so quick and easy. My neighbors with other company's have not been so fortunate (State Farm in particular). My deductible was $1000. and for just another $300, I upgraded from the 30 yr to the 50 yr shingle from CertainTeed. For that little amount, to get the thicker shingle seemed a "no brainer". It took a month to get scheduled, but once started the whole process with Collis was very easy. I've had several roofs replaced here in Central Florida, and I would use Collis again.

The guys gave me a detailed description of what the problem would most likely be and based their estimate on that. They showed up on the scheduled day and performed the work exactly as they had described they would. They determined that what they suspected was the problem actually was what was going on with the roof. The replaced quite a bit of flashing, underlayment and a couple of bundles of shingles. New shingles match the roof perfectly. Took them just as long as they said it would. These guys are awesome. Oh and the same guys who inspected it and gave me the estimate were the ones who performed the work. Good, solid work from a company I will use again and refer people to.

While this estimate is well over a year old, the estimator did reach out to the customer after we received this review to discuss the pricing. Although there has been no response, the estimator did leave a message that the estimates left were approximately over 60% less than stated and he would be more than happy to help clear any misunderstanding that may have occurred. Collis Roofing has a strong history of giving away roof replacements and repairs for free or at a significantly reduced cost to single moms, disabled veterans, families in need or in family crisis, and nonprofits that benefit children with terminal illness. Collis Roofing does these roofs in house as needs arise and resources are available and also through community partnerships, local nonprofits, military nonprofits and global nonprofits such as Give Kids the World, Operation Finally Home, Habitat for Humanity, Homes for Heros and Collis Roofing's Free Roof Contest. Collis Roofing is also the exclusive roofing contractor in Florida to partner with SELF, a non profit lender in Florida, that provides loans to those with low credit scores, single moms and veterans.

[member name removed] contacted Collis Roofing for a roof and deck repair on November 26, 2014. The notes from the customer service representative at Collis Roofing stated that he was referred by a contractor. [member name removed] roof over the lanai was leaking, and the roof also serves as deck from master bedroom and is tiled for walking on. He expressed that he was ok with having tile taken off and replaced with other product as long as it can be walked on and support furniture. Mike, the Commercial Services Manager, went out and met with [member name removed] and explained that this was out of our scope and we would need to use a subcontractor for the work. Mike expressed that he and the gentleman had a great discussion and stated he was a very nice man, which we have an email to confirm this. Collis Roofing then forwarded the information to Mr. Williams at Williams Constructions. Mr. Williams contacted [member name removed] and received a response that he did not want to discuss the work that needed to be completed.

The representative came out and did an evaluation of our roof which does have a fairly steep pitch and was approximately 15-17 years old. The final estimate was around $12,000 dollars which was by far the most expensive of the 3 quotes we received. In the end we choose a local roofing company to our area where the work was done professionally and promptly with all the same services offered by Collis but saved us 33%.

Hi [Member name removed], I appreciate the time you took to give your feedback and about how you felt and what your experience was like with Collis Roofing. I am hoping in turn you will take a moment to hear from us as we have done our homework on local competitors and what other homeowners have found. One of the reasons we may appear to be more expensive is that it's not always easy to read from an estimate the actual differences in the roof quote that go beyond the pitch. While pitch can be a factor the actual type and value of the products that go on your roof and the installation are where the price difference will come in. Before we even consider the roof type, shingle, tile, flat, metal, slate, take a look at the underlayment and decking. This is the word work and what protects the wood. Many will use the lowest quality underlayment and not necessarily plan or replace wood that needs to be replaced. This is one of the first most common reasons a roof needs a repair in the next year to three years. The second most common reason a roof doesn't last as long as it should is the installation and roof type products. For example, the top 3 shingle manufacturers are Certain Teed, Owens Corning and GAF. Each of them have different levels of product - good, better and best. They also have level of manufacturer certifications that roofing companies can earn based on a large amount of inspections, using the right products for venting, keeping the deck dry and more, training and installations that live up to what they recommend. At this time, there are no roofers in 10 miles of your zip code in Sorrento that have any of these manufacturer qualifications or ratings. They cannot, therefore, offer the same warranties to protect you in the long run. There is no guarantee that the roof was installed correctly by the manufacturer standards. This can put you at risk with insurance claims as well, because they can say the roof damage is due to negligence of installation and potentially deny a roof repair or roof replacement claim. We have found that when a homeowner has come to us about the same issues they have felt about the price, that when they found out the difference in the estimate from the quality and longevity of the products from the underlayments, decking, vents and shingles to the true value of the warranty offered to them that is not only backed by a company with 23 years but also backed by the manufacturers with the highest level of manufacturer rating, they knew that our product would be the best for you and your family and that we would be there should you ever need us.
