This probably the best experience I have had with a contractor. Matt arrived precisely at the agreed upon time and began the work required. He moved a TV from living room to the lanai along with installing a new wall mount for the TV. Matt then moved the existing lanai TV to the Master bedroom. This also included running wires properly for a wall mount TV and cleaning up Comcast's previous work. Next Matt moved the existing Master bedroom TV to the guest room. This also required taking down and existing TV and replacing the wall mount for the larger TV. Matt also did a "clean up" of the existing wiring that was in the guest room. Last but not least, Matt set up and programmed a new living room TV along with a sound bar. Matt also moved an existing Apple TV from the living room to the Master bedroom. Needless to say this was a time consuming project as I do not have a brand new pre-wired house. Matt was professional at all times and explained what he was doing as he went. I might also add the Matt put together the wall mounts on site, as he had helped me pick the ones that would work so I could order online and save $$$$. Matt does outstanding work and is a pleasure to have in your home.

Matt came to look at this home I bought that had a Stargate Home Automation System for lighting, a/c alarm, etc.The system had been disconnected at some point and the home was a foreclosure. He looked at the system in early November and gave me a very professional estimate via email explaining everything. He said "it would be a bit of a learning process for him as he had not worked on many Smart home systems but not this one in particular. " He said " I have the utmost confidence I can get it working again and would even be able to use my smart phone to control everything with new add ons in parts to the existing panel." The estimate was for 4300.00 and mostly labor. He also said in this email "I realistically expect my time to be closer to 70-80 hours, but the price will not go up. From the get go it was endless excuses and dates and promises not kept. He asked for 1500.00 to get started. Said that would cover any parts and some of the labor. i gave him a check approx. 2 weeks before Thanksgiving with the agreement we would start day after Thanksgiving. When that day came he couldn't start because he said he was in the hospital. Long story short he finally started in mid december. After a week or two of doing very little and coming to the house a couple times he said he would require another 2350.00 for more parts and labor. I felt uneasy with this, but reluctantly agreed. He assured me everything was going fine and the main brain had tested ok and was just matter of programming system etc. Said also had no other jobs until after Jan. so was ready to finally come and spend as much time as necessary to get the job done. He also said he would not require any more cash until the job was done. Well as it got a week or so from Christmas he had not ordered the parts still and I said I want this done before Christmas like you said it would be. I told him he better expedite shipping and get going. He finally got the parts and showed up a few days before Christmas after me riding him. He worked on the system approx. 3-4 days. As the deadline approached a couple days before Christmas he said I can't get the system working I'm giving up. Something about the technology was too old (2003 house and system) was picking up interference from the electronics in the house and it could be made to work, but would require way too much time and labor. He said since he couldn't complete the job he would install a new smart home system that would be 5000.00 or so and would knock the lost labor from this job off the bill. I said I can't afford another 5000.00 can you just give me a couple days labor with some help around the house on other projects and my parts refund. He said yes. I have his text messages that confirm all of this. Then when time came for him to work a couple days more he made more excuses why he couldn't His truck broke down etc. He never made good on that. He also said of course you will get back the 1100.00 in parts. Still waiting on that. Starting Dec. 23rd he said it was all returned and had RMA's He even at one point said Smarthomes.com had the parts back and he was waiting for them. At some point after a few weeks of excuses and him saying he didn't know if they were going to refund or not because the parts had been hooked up, I contacted Smarthomes.com to see what was up because he quit answering my text messages. Just told them approx date ordered and his company name, and parts used. They were able to look it up. It says right on the website they have a 30 day no hassle satisfaction return policy. I could tell he was planning on keeping the money and telling me they wouldn't do the refund for some reason. Long story short he will not respond to my text messages and he has been refunded in full for the parts ,but the amount of the parts was 688.00 not the 1100.00 he lied and told me had in this job. This guy is a con artist. Stay away. I checked with BBB and he has an unresolved complaint and C rating. I really should have done my home work before hiring this guy. Also learned to get everything in writing as far as cash needed, Dates to complete, etc.I think this system could have been made to work but as his time in it approached 40 hours he just decided to give up rather than finish and spend more time as he said he would in the email estimate. I have nothing to show for over 3700.00. I will pursue other avenues to get my parts money back at least. This is blatant theft on the parts. The labor I have to chalk up as a loss and we never had an agreement before what would happen if he couldn't make it work, although at the time he quit on it he agreed to help me with some of the lost labor as stated earlier. The parts are mine though I paid for them and he is keeping the refund. This was a complete nightmare. The closet where all the wiring was got left the same way as when he started. Complete mess of wires everywhere. He even left a huge bag of trash. I wonder if he ever really had any intensions of finishing this job? Would have made sense if he cleaned up some of the wiring mess etc. first to make things easier for himself. Update: Matt texted me back today and his response when I told him that I knew Smarthomes refunded him because they told me they did, was basically "he was going to refund the parts (LOL) but now he's not going to because I have harassed him." I guess asking for what I paid for and is legally mine is harassment. Going to call BBB and check into criminal charges as well as civil suite. You can't keep the parts it's just theft.
