THE CABINET PLACE

The work was well done. They did a good job. But then the following year, I noticed bubbles under the material so I called the company. A man came out and looked at it and noticed that the material was coming loose, and they were going to have to replace it with better material. He told me it would be re-done within a couple weeks but they never got back to me.

I saw these people at the Home Show and so filled out a card for them to contact me. They had a very impressive booth and literature describing their products. Then I looked them up on Angie's List and saw that although they had been on Angie's List since 2006, there were no reports from anyone. Then I looked them up on the BBB, and saw that they had 6 complaints against them, mostly involving the product and service. That was enough to make me decide not to go with them.

The appointment time came and went and nobody contacted me. I began contacting them the middle of the installation week to know when to expect them. They said they would be delayed because of the holiday weekend and moving their business and they would call the following week. They didn't call the following week, so again I began calling them. Once again, I got the runaround. He sent a man the following week to my house to measure! I thought they were ready to install the week before. Two weeks went by and no one called. He finally returned my call and then said he would call back and again didn't. Finally I called and canceled the order. Now it has been more time and my money has not been refunded and they are not returning my calls. The price reflects what the total cost of the job would have been.

I signed a sales contract with this company on June 19, 2007 for $909 and gave a $600 deposit. The price was high but it was a very small job and I accepted I would have to pay a premium to get it done. The contract said the work would done July 9 and it would take about 1/2 a day. The owner said it may get done sooner if the cabinet doors came in early. That was the last I heard for weeks and weeks and weeks. I finally started calling to find out when my work would be done and when I did get an answer I got nothing but excuses. Half the time I got the answering machine but no one ever returned my calls. I finally went to the shop just to make sure they were still in business. Lucky for me I had the cell phone number of Carl, the shop foreman. He is a decent man and he was finally able to squeeze me into his schedule. He got here today, August 29, almost two full months since my initial contract and it took an hour and half to do the work.

THE VERY FIRST DAY THEY DID NOT SHOW UP. I CALLED, AND THEY SAID THAT THEY CHANGED THE STARTING DATE FOR THE NEXT DAY, AND THEY DID NOT LET ME KNOW. AND THAT IS THE WAY THE WHOLE THING WENT. AFTER THE JOB WAS FINISHED, WE WERE SATISFIED WITH IT, BUT YOU CAN'T PLAN YOUR DAYS, JUST SIT AT HOME AND WAIT.

The girl on the phone told me that they would be here Tuesday (today) but now she's telling me it will be Wednesday. I don't have any problem with my hearing. She won't let me talk to any of the bosses and I got up at 5 a.m. to get the place ready. I've paid them half already.

It wasn't that easy. I wanted to match my dining room hutch and buffet. That included intricate moldings, door style, wood type and color for an exact match. They not only did that, but they came more than one time to test out different colors so that I could see the colors both in the daylight and night time to get it to match just right. They contacted the manufacturer of the hutch and buffet to make sure they could match the hardware. The workers were incredibly patient with me. They were attentive and respectful. They stayed until we were totally satisfied with the job. They even called a week later to make sure we were still happy. The price was very reasonable for all the work they put into this. Between the time they did the final installation and a week after the job was done the owner (Mr Jackson) stopped by to just say hello and see the finished product. Awesome clean up when the job was completed and no dust was left.

I called company to get an estimate for refacing my children's bathroom cabinets. I was told that they would call me within the next week to set up an appointment. They made it perfectly clear that because it was a small job they would be working me into their schedule. I did not hear from the company so after a week I called back and had to leave a message. I have never heard from the company.

I had three companies give me estimates. The woman who came from The Cabinet Place was much more thorough and professional. She showed me pictures of different product options and proof of license and bonding. Also, they gave me a discount from the originally quoted price of $3,960.00.
