Words can not explain how great this company is. My cat ran outside and was hiding under my house for a week. I called Smitty's Trapping Company and Smitty came by within 30 minutes. He was very cordial and professional the whole entire time. He knew exactly how to fix the problem, and he made it happen. Within 5 hours, my cat was back inside my house and now she is back to being the happy animal she is. When I tell you that Smitty's Trapping Company is the best in the bay, I truly mean it. Thanks again, Ryan Hoppe

We had a young Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake in our backyard. Gave Bob a call - he was very helpful in confirming that it was indeed a diamondback (I had sent him a picture via text). He showed up - snatched the snake - and was in and out in 5 mins! Thanks Bob!

One never relishes the thought of calling an exterminator but after the positive experience we had with Smitty's Trapping we will not hesitate should the need arise in the future. Over a period of two weeks we tried many tactics to rid ourselves of our unwelcome visitor and finally decided to throw in the towel and call a professional. Our call was answered by Bob, the owner, and within two hours he had come to the house, assessed the situation and set a trap. Within two days our uninvited guest had been dispatched. Bob suggested waiting a couple days to make sure there weren't any other unwelcome visitors. When all was quiet for a couple nights Bob returned and closed the opening that had allowed access thus taking care of any possible future problems. We were very impressed with the responsiveness, knowledge, and efficiency of Smitty's Trapping.

I called a couple of animal removal services to remove a dead animal in my pond in my backyard. Several places quoted me between $175-$225 and stated they would be there "sometime later today maybe". I went on Angie's List and saw Smitty's Trapping located nearby in Largo, FL. I called and a gentleman by the name of Bob answered and stated he would be there within a half hour and it would cost $125. Bob was at my home in about a half hour. I paid beforehand because "Things will get messy later", he correctly stated. He took no time in wading through the chest deep brackish water to snag the carcass. He bagged the dead animal, which happened to be a bloated raccoon, and left the scene. No fuss, no muss.

This did not go well at all. He will not refund our money. He knows very well that he did not take care of the service we hired him to do on our behalf, yet he has many excuses as to why it was my husbands job to follow his instructions. My husband works full time and is busy, which is why we hired Bob! Bob's website states that HE captures cats...His website does not state that he will take your money, leave a trap and wish you luck in capturing your own cat. But, this is what he did. Honesty is not something he utilizes in his business. The Better Business Bureau has several complaints concerning these same concerns from other customers. We wish we would have checked there before hiring him.
Description of Work: We hired Bob to capture a stray cat that we had grown fond of so that we could have her spayed and released to a feral community. He asked for $180, gave some instructions and left a trap with little to no contact. He never called and only stopped by twice. He did not catch the cat for us.

Response from Smitty's Trapping
This trapping job did not work for this customer because the husband whom I signed the contract with and gave the process and instructions to did not do his part. [member name removed] agreed that he would be the one who rebaited and reset the trap because the cat only showed up every three or four days. I did come out twice early in the job to release a possum and another time to reset the trap. After I hadn't heard from [member name removed] for a couple weeks I called him and he informed me they had been out of town for a couple weeks. Six months ago I stopped by to get my trap and [member name removed] informed me that the cat had kittens asked me to bring the trap back out which I did. At that time I informed him to gather the kittens and use them as bait to catch the mother cat but he refused. He told he was more concerned about catching the kittens and placing them in homes. After not hearing back from [member name removed] for a couple more months and being in the area which is about 45 minutes from my home I retrieved my trap. Two weeks ago I got a call to trap a cat in a customers back yard that had recently had kittens. Upon arriving at the job I realized that it was only a couple houses away for the [member name removed]. At that time [member name removed] drove up and I went down and spoke with him. After verifying the colors of his cat we knew that it was his cat that his neighbor was hiring me to catch. He then became very flustered when I informed him I couldn't release the cat to him if I caught it but did inform him that I take all my cats to Pinellas County Animal Services. I also informed him that if my current customer was ok with it I would release the cat and kittens to him but my customer did not give me the ok to do that because of their concern the cat would be released at [member name removed] property again. Also the HOA they live in has a current problem with feral cats doing property damage and the vice president is actively getting rid of the feral cats in their community. After talking with [member name removed] I left and resumed catching the kittens which I placed in a trap. I then set two traps on either side of the trapped kittens and caught the mother cat within a half hour. I then took the cats to PCAS as I am required to do by state law. This is where [member name removed] became involved. She started sending me threatening emails and telling me I was hired first and had an obligation to them. I responded several times explaining the procedures her husband was given and which he agreed to but did not follow up on to catch their cat. I went above and beyond to help the [member name removed] catch their cat but cannot be held liable when customers do not do their part. My contract clearly states my jobs are for 30 days and [member name removed] had my trap for over 8 months. If [member name removed] would have been truthful with his wife and diligent on his part to catch the cat this situation never would have occurred. I do not appreciate the lies that [member name removed] has posted above. I do have ONE complaint against me with the BBB and feel free to read that complaint and you will see what kind of customer that was. The [member name removed] did claim their cat and kittens from PCAS and I really hope they don't release them back on their property again so they can continue to be problems for their neighbors.

Hello there Angies List I have to tell you a story about a wonderful experience I had with the animal removal company Smitty's Trapping. Originally from the northeast and not used to the wonderful critters and creatures we have native to Florida. I don't mind bugs but for some reason I have a phobia with geckos! I do understand they help control the bug population down in Florida but still not used to them! Well lo and behold one morning I woke to find a gecko in my master bedroom!! My husband (braver than me) and with no such silly phobias wasn't home. I knew the little guy probably got in because of open windows during our window work done the previous week. I couldn't remove the guy myself--so I got on Angie's List and looked up animal removal while I kept an eye on him from a distance. I called the first company on my list with very high ratings--I asked for a quote for a one time removal of a lizard. They quoted me $160! It included a package for exclusion services etc. You must understand at that time all i wanted was the gecko gone. I wasn't thinking long term! I then decided to call Smitty Trapping which was also highly recommended on my list. Bob answered the phone right away, there was no middle man to deal with. I explained the situation to him and he said he would charge me a flat fee of 75 and arrive in 10 minutes. True to his word and very professional Bob arrived in 10 minutes with a ladder and removed the gecko within the next 5 minutes! The little guy was safely placed in the backyard, and the job was done in a jiffy. Bob said the charge was now $60. I have had service professionals go up in price after coming in for a call. But I have never had someone go down in price! He was professional, quick, punctual and efficient. Wow! What service! He also was respectful of my fears but explained that geckos do control the bug population down here in Florida. I would highly recommend Smitty Trapping for all your Animal Removal needs. I am going to call them for exclusion and Pest services too as I am dissatified with my current company. Very reasonable rates too!

Bob came in, set up his 32 ft ladder, climbed nearly to the top, then extend his catch pole to get our cat, who didn't like the choke hold, but was very happy to get back inside the house. Bob accomplished everything within a few minutes. If this happens again, we know who to call.
Description of Work: Our cat was stuck high in a tree. After receiving no response from the fire department, for which we pay taxes, we checked Angie's List and found Wildlife Catch. We figured it would take the same expertise and equipment needed to bag a raccoon, only he hands over the cat instead of trucking away the varmint.

When I met Bob I told him what I was hearing in my attic. He was knowledgeable and friendly. He told me that it was probably squirrels. He walked me around my property and pointed out possible entry points. We both went in the attic and he showed me where the squirrels were probably making a nest. Everything was fine, and I was happy. I scheduled a time to meet him a few days later. I offered to take off work early so he could have more daylight to work in. He assured me that it was not necessary, but I wanted to be sure that he could see any and all entry points. When the day came he was two hours late. I had to call him to see if he was coming. When he did arrive he had brought the wrong type of soffit. He had to run to a hardware store to buy some more. At this point I called him and told him that I was going to go with somebody else. He seemed to know his work, and in my opinion I think he would have done a good job, but when someone says they are going to leave work early to meet you, you should be on time.
Description of Work: Free estimate and inspection determined that I had squirrels in my attic. A quote was given to remove the squirrels and block the attic from re-entry.
