Description of Work: Sid Hager of Progressive Electric did an excellent job . I told him how my son-in-law tried to change a socket in a lamp for me, and wired the socket wrong, and even tho plug was defective, tried to repair lamp. When he plugged in defective plug, it blew a circuit and even tho we tried to reset breakers, did not succeed. Sid checked out breaker panel, and found what was wrong, a fried breaker wire, repaired same, and withing half an hour, everything that was not working was working again. I was very pleased that he was able to come out the same day I called, his price was reasonable and he was very professional. Would use him again if an electrical problem arose. June Caudle

Description of Work: I contacted this company Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning during their business hours - left a message both times and have never been called back - today's Thursday. Called another contractor and getting service tomorrow. Disappointed as they were rated so highly.

Description of Work: The flourescent fixture in my wife's bathroom had been failing for some time and finally quit. In addition, an outdoor fixture for two flo odlights had been broken and needed replacing. Since Progressive Electric was close to our home, and Angieslist gave the organization a high score,I contacted them and told them what our problems were. They scheduled us promptly and that definitely soothed my wife. Prior to arriving the electrician picked up the ballast and tubes for the flourescent fixture and the two floodlight lighting fixture as well. He arrived when he said he would and accomplished the job in less than an houour. There was no mess and no complication. I had forgotten to specifically list that the wall switch needed replacing since it was sloppy in its switching although it did turn the flourescent fixture on and off. I did find this oversight disappointing and will replace this item myself but it is the case that I hadn't specified the need for replacement. My major problem was that I hadn't asked for an estimate or bid. I was shocked when the bill turned out to be $117.50/hour. I never had checked and we did pay promptly but I'm still somewhat shocked at the hourly price. When I questioned the bill I was informed that that was the standard rate for the first hour. I've been living quite some time but I'm still learning.

Description of Work: Sid arrived promptly and performed the work requested; hung a new dining room fixture, checked out some weird wiring done by previous owner, corrected problems, and installed a new motion detector. Would definitely use his services again and highly recommend his company.

Description of Work: I had a "laundry list" of electrical issues and Sid went through each one with me patiently, including giving me his opinion on lighting design in my kitchen. He gave us a realistic idea of the pros and cons of installing pendant lighting. My initial call was for the purposes of double-checking a grounding issue on a new hot water heater, but I decided to have him look at a few other things around the house as well. He replaced a balast for a flourescent light in the garage and did not complain about having to manuever around a broken down immoveable car. He did not make me feel like an idiot for figuring out that the light in the electric garage door opener simply needed a new light bulb (we had apparently replaced a burned out light with a bad light bulb). He also replaced a malfunctioning circuit breaker outlet in the bathroom that had been giving us trouble and had all the supplies available to do so on his service vehicle. We also had him replace the other outlet in the bathroom to match since we preferred white and ours was a "puddy" color. Most importantly, he put up with the head of the household "Hank" my ever curious black lab. Thanks Sid -- you'll be the first person we call with our next electrical issue (hopefully, it won't be something as silly as a bad bulb!).

Description of Work: I was very pleased with Sid Hager's overall performance. After initially setting up an appointment, I needed to reschedule and Sid was excellent about keeping in touch. He showed up right on time and completed 2 electrical tasks for me. He was quick, efficient and very professional. I will definitely use Sid for future jobs.

Description of Work: We used Progressive Electric Inc. and they did the total electric input from the main wiring to the house and put it a new fuse box, did some outside wiring, put in 2 or 3 new switches for the lighting, did an outside set up for a spa and early this month they did the final inspection.
