I had Mr. Spark come out to give an estimate for updating my breaker panel with copalum connectors. The estimator told me I had to replace the entire breaker box and that there is evidence of charring. He pressed me to sign immediately, telling me the whole thing was very dangerous and could set my house on fire any minute. I asked him to show me the charring but didn’t see what he was talking about. There is NO charring. No sparking. No immediate danger. I sent photos to my Master Electrician brother-in-law and he and 2 other local electrical contractors confirmed this. Both Local contractors provided quotes between $250-$350 for the necessary work. Mr. Sparky quoted me over $1000 to replace the “charred” breaker box. I will never ever call on them again, even though I’m sure not all of their estimators are as rude, dismissive, and dishonest as the one I met.

This review is in reference to Job: 559197 Patrikios Papasavas, an electrician with Mister Sparky arrived on the scene and I explained to him that my pool electrical panel had tripped a breaker and would not reset. He said the Standard Repair & Troubleshooting Diagnostic: fee is $306.75 my gut feeling was to cancel but I did not. He went to the house panel and shut off the breaker to the pool pump. I have an older Gould panel without a main breaker feeding a sub-panel; he said he found the bus bars in the main panel burning. I think he meant to say there was some previous arching, but I could be wrong. He opened up the sub panel and said he found the breaker for the pool pump. This breaker was arcing. He turned it off and removed the breaker and found the bus bars burning as well. He said these panels are electrical hazards and must be replaced. The only options were to address these hazards and replace the home master panel. I am no electrician but If a breaker is going bad and yes breakers do go bad and yes I can go to any hardware or electric store and purchase a 30 amp dual breaker. That option was not even suggested, replacing the breaker that was arching and buzzing. Below were the options. Option 1: -Replace burned electrical panels with 1 200 amp main breaker CH-series panel -Update grounding per code -Install surge protection on panel -Run new 240v 30 amp circuit with the insulated ground for pool panel -Pull permit Cost $5,412.75 Option 2: -Replace burned electrical panels with 1 200 amp main breaker CH-series panel -Update grounding per code -Install surge protection on panel -Pull permit Cost # $4,628.75 Option 3: -Replace burned electrical panels with 1 200 amp main breaker CH-series panel -Update grounding per code -Pull permit Cost $3,987.75 He then asked me what option I wanted and they would start the job immediately. I asked him to email me the quotes and he asked why since all in need to do is decide on one and he would get started. I told him that I would have to collect three quotes since this was an expensive project, Mr. Papasavas then asked me what I valued more, safety or money. I looked at him and said they are both equal at those prices, and of course, he did not want to hear that. He then said ok I need to collect $306.75, I made the comment that you have only been here 55 minutes, that’s one **** of an hourly fee. He said he was a Master Electrician, and that is what Mister Sparky charges. He left my home without cleaning up, After he left I noticed he left behind his ladder in the garage, he called me back and asked if he could swing by and pick it up. I of course said yes. He also left behind his floor savers a pair of really nice shoes that he did not return to get. I wonder if I will get a refund since the invoice states: 100% Satisfaction Guarantees Service & Repair Guarantee If you are not 100% satisfied with the service we have provided, we will refund all of your money. If our electricians smoke or swear in your home; are not drug-free; do not wear floor savers or leave your home without cleaning up, you do not pay for the service. I will leave the shoes in my entryway of the house, please ask him to stop by and pick them up. I contacted another reputable electrician and he said I could replace the panels or just the 30 amp double breaker since it was bad. I chose to change the breaker, myself. The cost was $11.00 to buy a matching breaker. I reconnected the saltwater pool panel and switched on the breaker and now the pool pump works and the Saltwater pool system also works beautifully. As they say, buyer beware!

It was terrific. in fact I had bought a valve before he came to put in there, but he have LED valve which I preferred to use so I was really happy. His prices were fair, very professional and on time. Cleaned up after himself and took a way the old valve with him.

I thought it went very well until, I realized one motion light was not working. I called Mister Sparky on Thursday January 23,2020 and scheduled appointment for a service call to address the light not working. They gave and appointment for Friday January 24,2020 between the hours of 8am to 12pm. when no one arrived by 12:40pm I called only to be told they had canceled my appointment because a bigger job came up. The company motto is "Americas On-Time Electrician" which I now find laughable! This company has no concern for your time at all. No phone call to let me know there had been a change no courtesy or concern that I waited half the day. I even received text message confirming appointment. So disappointing!! As of the time this review no one from company has returned a call back to me as i was told they would.
Description of Work: I had three motion lights installed and abandoned speaker wire removed.

The service performed above was fine. We also discussed two other replacements, a bathroom exhaust fan/light fixture and upgrading the small electrical panel box in the kitchen to meet current standards of the much newer and larger primary panel box outside. Technician was courteous and informative. He said that his office would email me a proposal/quote for replacing box fixtures (mentioned above), and that I would have the quote the next day. That was the end of anything positive resulting from my calls to Mr. Sparky. Friday came and went, no quote. I called them late Friday, and was assured that my quote had been sent and that they would send it again. What I received was my second email from them with a copy attached of the paid invoice ($95) for replacing the one outlet, not a quote or proposal. Three more calls to Mr. Sparky between Saturday and Monday afternoon netted 2 more copies of that same paid invoice. None included a quote for replacing anything else. Called again today with the same storyline. Received the same attachment for the 4th time. No quotes. No proposals. Asked/demanded to speak to a manager twice this afternoon, was left on hold for 4-5 minutes each time. After a promise that their manager would call me back, I had every confidence that I would have to repeat my tale of woe for the 4th or 5th time to no avail. And another couple minutes after that I received by email the SAME attachment for the 5th or 6th time. I had lost count. I called another service immediately and will not use Mr. Sparky nor will I recommend them to anyone. If this was a comedy bit, it would have been a success.

I was really impressed with Adrian and Mr. Sparky's service, one of the best contractors I have worked with. We are in town assisting an elderly relative with some health issues and getting her house back in order. There were 2 light fixtures that are probably 30 years old that did not work and needed to be replaced, I am handy, so I dived right in, I found some very odd issues with the wiring and needed to get someone with more electrical knowledge. We called Mr. Sparky after trying to schedule with at least 6 other electricians, all of them were at least 3 weeks out for service. The first appointment they had was 2 days out, we were overjoyed to schedule! Around 3 hours later, Mr. Sparly called and said they had some schedule changes and could come out that very afternoon, AMAZING, SAME DAY SERVICE! Adrian arrived and was professional, knowledgeable and very likable. He did a full assessment of the electrical system and offered us several options, from just solving our problem, to addressing a couple urgent needs, to bringing the whole house up to current standards with some options to protect us for the future. We picked a middle of the road approach. Adrian fixed our light fixtures, redid the wiring leading to a ceiling fan on the lanai and checked several other electrical concerns we had. He did all of this in a couple hours, was friendly and entertaining and most importantly, caring and compassionate to my elderly mother in law. The price was right on quote and not out of line with what I expected. I have worked in the trades and back home I work in real estate and deal with contractors all the time, you rarely run into a company as dedicated to customer service as what I saw today with Adrian and Mr. Sparky. We have more work to do on this house in the future and for electrical needs Mr. Sparky will be our first and only call.

My first appointment window and day they were too backed up and couldn’t make it—so I was re-scheduled for next morning/next day and their $59 dispatch fee waived as a courtesy for the inconvenience. So that worked out Ok. Both Brett and Brandon are very professional but it would have been nicer if I was part of the conversion when deciding what to do. They came to me and said you would have to pay $274.00 for your standard diagnostic. You are at their mercy, so I said yes - but this standard decision took all of 5 minutes!! I felt I was just robbed of $274.00 because they knew what was wrong before they told me about the standard diagnostic. WOW! They were here about 35 minutes.

Crew to start work at 8am. Ph'd 814am to inquire where crew was. Office person said would check & let know when on way. 926am crew arrives, no call. Master Elect. said he would be there at start of job, check midday and at end of job. Crew did not know. Was very clear that job to start at 8am as all day job and did not want to go into evening. Canceled job. Felt sorry for crew. Master El. called later trying to reschedule, said sick. One ph. call night before or before 8am could have kept this job alive. Since this happened, learned that the co. states on their web page, if not on time, they will pay for job. Funny how no offer of that or a reduced rate was offered. Was really looking forward to the work being completed. Big disappointment.

On December 19th I wrote David Connelly the president of Mr. Sparky, Tampa a letter stating I may have been overcharged. Today is January 5th, I am still waiting for the courtesy of a response. Mr. Sparky called me within minutes of the referral and set up an appointment for Tuesday at 3:00 PM. The electrician notified me by messaging that he would be on time. His photo was on the message. Robert was on time, put booties on upon arrival, researched the job, and gave me three alternatives. I elected to have Robert do the job. The job was estimated as $1656. I provided the three all-in-one down lights for the study, a replacement fixture for the living room, and a dimmer switch. Robert provided a double wall switch for the study and the wiring for the study. Here’s what the job entailed. Robert took pictures as a record of the project. The Study • 3 "down lights" installed in the ceiling • Holes drilled in the ceiling to accommodate the down light • Attic wiring for the lights and connection to the wall switch The Living Room • Install of a ceiling light at pre-existing junction box in the ceiling. The project took from 3:00 PM to about 7:00 PM. Robert left for a period of time to pick up Noah, an apprentice. The job was very professionally done and both men were very personable. All debris was thoroughly cleaned up. So, given generous consideration for time worked, the project took 4 hours and 2 men. Each person on the job was paid $207/hr. This assumes that the apprentice was paid the full hourly rate. If not, the electrician’s rate is even higher. When the electrician provided me with the estimate, I, as a layman, had no idea how much time the project would take. My neighbors tell me that the charges were out of line. These neighbors were charged between $75 and $90 for each light installed. Using homewyse.com to provide regional estimates for the job described above, calculated overall costs significantly lower than that charged by Mr. Sparky. Even though these estimates were higher compared to what my neighbors paid, the homewyse estimates were significantly lower than what Mr. Sparky charged.

They claim that they have same-day and quick response to your needs; however, this is false. The truth based on my experience is that even a week out that they could not get a simple light fixture installed. I would wait for a reputable service provider than EVER use this provider!!!!

All went well. The electrician called in 2 additional men to help so the work could be done in 1 day. Suggestions were made. Some I took care of, others will be taken care of later. All work was neat and tidy. I am very pleased with their work.

Mister Sparky reps came to the house to provide a quote for wiring a portable generator to my house main breaker panel. They were on time and professional and seemed to know what they were doing. I did not hire them because the quote of $2900.00 (sub-panel) or $2400.00 (generator lock-out kit) for this work and switching out 5 circuit breakers was to high in my opinion. I am hiring another company that is listed on this website that was much less.

The technician was professional and very knowlegeable, but the price quoted was very high. The time scheduled was for between 11am-2pm. The tech didn't get there until 4pm I sat in my car from 11-4 waiting.
Description of Work: Wire & Jaw needed replacement. I was told the meter box was too old to replace jaw and meter can would have to be replaced as well as other parts.

I did check to make sure someone contacted you to let you know we would be outside our window. So I am glad our team member did that but that didn't help you at that moment. I am sure the price seemed high due to you looking to just replace a part for a 1970's meter base. However, the entire unit needed to be replace with permitting and passing of inspection and a few other misc. items. I hope you were able to get this taken care of and were 100% happy with your experience.
