Dear Client, I am sorry that my technician was not able to explain to you the situation that he found in your home in manner that caused you to replace the faulty equipment. The situation that we found in your home's main breaker panel was a damaged bus bar. The bus bar is what all the breakers attach to and transfers the power from the incoming power lines to the rest of the house. These are safety mecanisms that are put in place to protect you and your home. The owner at our Mister Sparky office is very commited to doing only what is in the best interest to our clients and would never allow us to perform a "band-aid" type of repair on something that the National Electrical Code plainly states has to be replaced. This is per National Electric Code 110.12c and regulates all licensed electrical contractors. If a "band-aid" type of repair was performed you may have been gravely dis-serviced by your chosen electrician. We value our client's time, money and safety and will only do what we feel is in their best interest. We would be happy to send out a manager to look at what was performed in your home and make sure that it is up to code per the National Electric Code. If our technician was in the wrong, we will happily refund your money and pay for the repair that was performed by the other electrician.

Got an appointment within two days. Office staff very pleasant and got an email reminder and a call before Tech arrived. Technician Gregg arrived on time. He spent over 7 hours going through my home, inside and out. He figured out why a breaker was tripping and pointed out a fire hazard and replaced a breaker with incorrect amp. Gregg wore shoe covers whenever he entered the home, he was respectful, well spoken and explained clearly what he was doing. In the 3 years I have lived here I can say this is absolutely the most positive contractor experience I have had. I had contacted 6 other local area Electricians before calling Mister Sparky. The others came to quote but were ridiculously high or never returned phone calls to actually schedule work. I cannot be more pleased! THANK YOU!!

Salesman wanted $5,000 to replace 100 AMP panel with new 100 AMP panel which is more than double area rate. (One of Angie's Deals advertises $1,199 for a 200 amp panel replacement) Obviously did not agree to pay close to triple the cost and will think again using Angie's List to find an electrician. UPDATED RESPONSE: When I wrote first review it was prior to having another electrician fix our problem. It turned out to be two bad breakers in the panel. Mister Sparky's "technician" had insisted that the panel was extremely dangerous and out of code, turn off the main power and and told my tenant that it was too dangerous to turn back on. He insisted that the only solution was a $5,000 brand new 100 amp panel. Mister Sparky was called in by my tenant. Well needless to say, my electrician was sent out a couple of hours later, turned the power back on and reassured the tenant that it was safe. He diagnosed the problem and found two bad breakers in the old panel and advised me that I should upgrade to a new 200 amp panel. I agreed and he installed it the next day. Total cost was just under $1,000.00. I stand by my statement that Mr. Sparky's "technician" was both a bully and unethical. He was preying on my tenant's lack of knowledge and tried to sell him a $5,000 fix that ultimately cost under $1,000. How many other customers fall prey to these tactics? I have used Angie's List a number of times and have written great reviews for every other service. I have worked in the construction industry my whole career (30 + years) in the commercial & federal markets and really hate to see companies that are not ethical.
Description of Work: A bully salesman (not electrician) showed up to house and immediately went into act of how "dangerous and out of code" our panel was. Even though this same panel passed county inspection two months ago when new AC unit was installed. UPDATE/Response to Mister Sparky - No confusion on Mister Sparky, his bully "technician" was unethical at best. His "Technician" was a bully and not at all professional.

I have searched our customer data base and am not able to find your name or address. All of our technicians are just that. We have considered adding a sales person to our staff for larger, more long range jobs but have elected not to do so as of yet. Many of our clients take comfort in the fact that the person who came out to quote their job was also the person who completed the job;most of the time on the same trip. Please reach out to me if I have the wrong address or name associated with your account. Also, please bear in mind that sometimes when a electrical panel needs replaced, their are other components that must be updated in order to pass inspection from the authority having jurisdiction in that area. Electrician showed up on time and provided upfront pricing. Once we agreed on the job, the cost was in front of me on his chart and he got right to work. He was prompt and professional and got the job done right. Being a DIY-er at heart, I thought the prices were a little high based on what you can buy outlets etc for at the hardware store but, I also had another company quote almost the exact same thing for the same job so, I guess they are right on par with the others.
Description of Work: Moved light boxes and outlets in master bath renovation. Installed GFI outlets in all bathrooms.

When our water heater went out yesterday, it took us all day to get a plumber out to fix. Once the plumber fixed, he advised us that the water heater had blown out our circuit breaker and that we would now have to call out an electrician to repair before we would have hot water. By this point, it was considered "after business hours" so we knew it was going to be more, but the thought of another cold shower in the morning was unbearable. We called several electricians, and spoke to a few who were "on call", but none seemed thrilled with coming to our rescue, until we spoke to Devon from Mister Sparky. He was professional, knowledgeable and came out right away. From the minute he picked up the phone until the time he left our home, he was wonderful to work with, (put on shoe covers, explained what he was doing and educated us), we couldn't have asked for more. We would absolutely use them again, and will be requesting Devon.

All went quite well. The work was neat, speedy and thorough.
Description of Work: Evaluated what had to be done to install a garbage disposal and provide an estimate. Prices were very high for what had to be done. I was able, however, to negotiate a reasonable price for the job. The work was done professionally and quickly. I was pleased with the service.

Went o.k. 2 guys showed up and were professional. Cleaned up after installation.
Description of Work: Assembled and installed a ceiling fan with $99 Angie's list soupon. Needed to install new switch and junction box in ceiling to bring up to code. Extra cost!

We always request their electrician Gary because he always does such really good work. In the past, he has done a lot more intensive work for us, which included installing lights and rewiring entire electrical panels on two separate houses. He must be one of the best electricians that they have and his work is absolutely top notch.
Description of Work: Gary, the electrician, has done a lot of work for us since we have two houses, one that we are trying to fix up to sell. He came out this time and fixed an outside light that we have so that it will go on with the dark and off with the light. He also did some work that involved the outside of our house, removing and capping off some outside motion lights that we had that had begun to fall apart and weren't working anymore, and removed an old outdated telephone box from the outside wall that was just cluttering up the wall.

The electrician sent by Mister Sparky was competent, professional, and polite. I would have nothing at all bad to say about this company, except the pricing structure--flat fee. I paid $274 for less than an hour of work (consisting predominantly of diagnosis--the remedy was simply to snip off the end of a broken wire that was arcing). To be fair to Mister Sparky (which again, I consider in all other respects to be an excellent company), the flat fee structure seems to be standard, as I called multiple electricians and no one would give me an hourly rate (Mister Sparky was simply the first one who could fit me in--another good point about them). Plumbers and other professionals work on an hourly basis, and I'm not sure why electricians don't. If I were being charged $80/hour and the guy had to spend 3 hours fixing my problem, I wouldn't be happy, but at least I would know what I was spending my money on. With a flat fee, I'm at a complete loss. Again, great company, dumb pricing.

Our objective is to treat our clients time and property as we want ours to be treated. We strive to provide the best customer service in the industry. Our prices are devised by taking hundreds of service calls and determining approximate time and material cost they generally take, then we come up with the lowest price that we can charge and continue to stay in business. It is difficult to determine how long it will take to complete a job especially when diagnosis is needed. Our technician should have explained that in a diagnostic situation, we give a price that includes any amount of time needed to discover the problem and a minor fix. Most of the time the problem could be in many different places and we have to rule each one out until we find the issue. It sounds like in your situation, we were able to find the issue fairly quickly. Many times this is not the case. If it had taken us three or four hours to find the problem, we would not have came back to you and asked for additional money. We feel that this is the most fair form of pricing for our clients. Our technicians tell clients the exact amount of money that the repair will cost prior to starting any work. This allows you the peace of mind knowing the company is not making additional money by taking longer to find the problem or having to run to the parts house for supplies.

Mr. Sparky immediately contacted us to set up an appointment date. We missed the first call and did not respond over the weekend. Called on Monday and an appointment was set for Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, Jim called and advised he could be at the house early if I wished. I did and he arrived promptly. We showed him what needed to be done and he explained what normal labor would be required and the approximate cost before he started. He laid a tarp and was extremely careful with the chandelier. It took a bit to balance the fan and get the cover on the light due to a problem with the house. Jim explained the effect of a rheostat on the switch and indicated that if we wanted to replace it later, he would return and put on it on a switch without charging a service call. The work in the bedroom require Jim to remove the box, locate a short and correct the problem, which he did quickly and efficiently. He reviewed the circuit board and inside and outside connections and make recommendations, including the cost of fixing problems. There was no hard sell. Jim was professional and courteous; provided all information needed to make a decision. The experience was excellent. Both my husband and I thought the charges for the services were reasonable and quite acceptable.
Description of Work: Removed chandelier and replace with lighted ceiling fan in living room. Removed bedroom fan, replace wiring and replace; perform safety inspection in and outside home.

Workmanship and expertise were top notch. Two small things stand in the way of my giving this provider all A's: - the installer arrived at the very last minute of the time window I was given; and - He never asked but assumed that we would not want the ceiling fan flush against the ceiling so installed it a bit too low for my taste. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this till after the installer left.

I called Mr. Sparky to set an appt. to get my electrical panel labeled as my inspector recommended. They wanted to charge me $60 just to drive the 3 miles from Dunedin to Palm Harbor, and couldn't give me a price for services before the technician would get there. So, basically (and I confirmed with the operator) that I would be charged $60 no matter what before I could get a quote on labeling my electric panel. I cancelled before I ever scheduled the appointment.

I was going to come back to him. He put something that wasn't working and he double charged for it. I was going to call him and tell him to get back and fix it. He's expensive. I paid for his services but at least one of them isn't working. When he came in, he told me that I need to do this, I need to do that and anyway, I get for some point and then some point, I yielded because I'm not in the position to determine whether he is right or wrong. I wasn't very enthusiastic but I agreed. I'm very disappointed about him. I asked him some questions and he said it should be installed, that should be right but it wasn't done right. Then he did something else that I most likely needed. Anyway, the entire bill was around expensive. The quality one thing, is failed. The others seemed to be in place. He came on time. His explanation was okay.

The person who came to our house was named Gary. I found him polite and knowledgable. He was easy. to communicate with and was a pleasure to have in my home. I will be requesting him next time I need any electrical work done.
Description of Work: The agent provided a full diagnostic of our electrical system and brought to our attention some faulty wiring which was hazardous. He then, in a timely manner offered us several options varying in price in which to resolve these issues.

Service tech (Greg) was really a great guy. He was on time, very professional and yet warm in a down to earth way. The call took a bit over three hours since I didn't want to have to worry about making time for another service call. He had all the pieces/parts necessary to complete all of the jobs I agreed for him to do. Will call them in the future if the need for an electrician ever arises.
Description of Work: Checked my electric panel, labeled all of the breakers, switched my AC wiring which was not code to wires that had been used for a pool heater I no longer have. He also installed a whole house surge protector and changed out a 220V RV plug on the front of my house to a 110V GFI plug that will serve me well.

They were very professional, clean and polite. We approved the cost prior to work completed. I think the cost was a little high as it might compare to smaller companies, but I can't complain too much since we okayed it.
Description of Work: We needed various electrical jobs done; outlets that didn't work, running lines for a new outlet on the back porch, installing a light fixture outside.

They told me that the entire electrical panel needed to be replaced. The price quoted to replace the panel seemed to be high based on my research so I have elected to call a different electrician..

Certain main breaker panels are outdated and need to be replaced instead of serviced. We don't want our clients to spend good money on bad products. Our prices are all inclusive, our service is 24 hours a day 7 days a week, our technicians are all background checked and drug tested, and the products we use carry the highest level of warranty and home protection. The two men who came,. Jason and Fred, were tops. They arrived on the dot of the time frame, worked diligently, were most pleasant. After installing the celiing fan which was a bit different from the old one because I chose one with a light, and remote operation from the switch on the wall. I was very pleased with both their work and their company - we actually had fun. Fred even vacuumed my carpet after the fan work was completed. I would definitely recommend them both and their company to friends.
Description of Work: Installed a new main breaker to replace the broken one. Also installed a ceiling fan with remote control
