Mister Sparky of Clearwater

I called for an estimate for a small electrical job. They advised if price was acceptable they would have the equipment on the truck to complete the job. They arrived on time and reviewed the work which took approx 5 minutes. They gave me a quote for $175. I told him I already had a written quote for $120. He called the office and the price was reduced to $140. I told him thank you but his price was still to high. He then asked for a $59.00 service call charge. I advised all that I asked for was an estimate and no one mentioned a service charge for the estimate. If they advised a service charge was required for an estimate I would not have had them come out. I did not pay the service call charge.

We had an intermittent issue with lights flickering in part of the house, then a breaker would "trip". The electrical box was also making a slight "clicking" noise when this occurred. I called Mister Sparky and made an appointment for the same day between 1 - 4. I was suppose to receive a call 30 minutes before the technician arrived so I could return home from work, but the technician was already at my house when I received the call. The technician, Devon, replaced one bad and two other incorrect circuit breakers in our electrical box with five new, correct circuit breakers (two of the circuit breakers replaced were "dual" breakers). Devon was professional, courteous, and informative. The work was done satisfactory, completed within an hour, and the problem has been corrected. I have owned this house for 15 years and it is bothersome that neither my initial home inspector, nor two other electricians from different companies that were previously hired for other issues, noticed the incorrect circuit breakers in our electrical panel. They all were hired before I became a member of Angie's List several years ago.

Henry, on time, exceedingly competent & efficient he explained well some complicated issues. I am happy & confident to more formal w/services.

Everything was fine, it was just a little high priced. They try to upsell service that I didn’t asked for. They were courteous, they were nice and they came out fast. The quality was good.

The electrician arrived on time an examined the outlet which was now operational' and found what circuit it was on. He than performed a safety check on the condo and found 3 things wrong concerning electrical safety. A inoperable hard wires smoke alarm, a kitchen outlet that needed to be upgraded to a gfi and a surge protector for the electric box. After calling the office at original price his supervisor reduced it down to get the job done asap . Mike put in a new smoke alarm a micro surge protector behind electrical box and 2 new kitchen outlets {gfi} he stayed until job was done . Really pleased. A+

I secured & promotional offer. I had to fans installed and electric run to the patio. I liked them so much I returned them to my neighbor.

Positive reviews of Mister Sparky on Angie's List prompted me to give them a try. Especially since my regular electrician was unavailable. I'm disappointed. The work itself was fine, comparable to that done by other electricians over the years. However, the price was more than double what I've paid for the same job in the past. I had two GFCI outlets installed a year ago for less than half what Mister Sparky charged for just one. The technician either overcharged me or the company is charging inflated prices. Either way, there are much more cost effective providers than Mister Sparky.

Johnathan showed up exactly when I expected. He was friendly and very professional. I expected this to be a small job, but it was much larger than I thought but he explained the entire process, gave me options and didn't push me in any direction. I am extremely pleased with him and will certainly use Mister Sparky again because of Johnathan. He worked very hard today and not one time did he complain about how this turned into a larger job than expected.

It did not go well. The technicians themselves were polite and wrote up an estimate based on the prices in their Mister Sparky price booklet. Then, they tried to upsell us, and tried to make us feel we were getting a "special discount" by calling up their "president" and lowering the $9000 estimate to still above $7000. Ridiculous. We went to Kopper Electric and paid about $2000 for the same work. Sparky Electric obviously has no qualms about ripping off their customers.

I was very disappointed. The work they did was good. All they did was took down my kitchen lamp and put up a new one and that was $200. Then they went outside and took the light off my door outside and put a new one up, almost the same and the price jumped up again. He asked if I wanted another smoke detector and to said yes. My total bill was about $499.00. That was just ridiculous.

I had 3 different lights that stopped working over time. I called Mr. Sparky. They were very polite and professional on the phone. They scheduled me for the next day at a time that worked for me. They showed up early. The technician reviewed the problem with me and provided a flat cost for the work. After we agreed on a price, he started the work. He was kind enough to let me watch, as I was curious since I failed to figure out the solution to this issue on my own. He talked me through the process and showed me what failed in the system. It was the cheap parts and shortcuts the builder took when they rushed my house during the boom. All 3 lights had the same issue. He replaced the switches and wired them properly. He provided a whole house inspection with recommendations and quotes for everything. I declined further work, but I appreciated the information and offer. If I have electrical problems in the future I will definitely call these guys first.

He was very pleasant and quick and also very timely. It was a big help and we couldn't have asked for a nicer more accommodating service. I highly recommend them.

We called Sparky's from Angie's List because we needed new controls for our over head fan and light and a new ballast for a fluorescent light fixture in the garage. We purchased a $49 coupon on the Angie's list site. When the Electrician from Sparky's arrived he said they recommended replacing fluorescent fixtures with LED lights and it would cost $450, We declined. Our fan and light had a dimmer switch and speed control switch. The electrician from Sparky's replaced them both with on and off switches. We were OK with the elimination of the dimmer switch however the lack of a speed control switch on the wall means we now have to crawl up on the bed to change speeds. The bill was $172 less the $49 we paid for the coupon. I am not sure what value the coupon added since the totals were the same. Not realizing the fan switch was incorrect till after he left, we called to ask for an adjustable one. We were told by the electrican that that would be an ADDITIONAL $180. I believe these prices are totally out of line and we will never use Mr Sparky again.

Devon knows a lot about electric and explained everything well.

Henry the installer was very professional, punctual, and took great pride in making sure work was done correctly.

Chas was fantastic from when he walked in the door until he left. Knew exactly what I wanted, great suggests & cleaned up after himself.

Henry was on time and very courteous and thorough and professional. He assessed me problems & explained what had to be done and provided a quote and we discussed work and agreed on the service. He was very good at explaining the work & completed it as expected.

Excellent. Kory did a great job-had to get in some tight space and no complaints about doing it, anything I requested he made happen.

They were not good. He tried to get me to spend money that I didn't have. I resented that, I didn't have the money, and he kept trying to push it. I don't like him and I wouldn't use them again. He did good work, I just resented him trying to get more money out of me. He scared me, he said that I was going to have a fire, and all that. I told him that I can't afford it, so forget about it. I wouldn't tell a friend. The price was right for what he did. He named my circuit breakers. He wanted $6000 more. The quality was good and he got here on time. I didn't think he was that professional. I wouldn't use them again.

On time, professional, got the job done helpful

I contacted Mister Sparky to obtain a quote to move a Water Heater from our Utility room to our Garage. I was asked by the person on the phone if I was getting other bids and I said that I was. I was than informed that Mister Sparky sends out a licensed electrician who is ready to perform the work to give the bid. I was told that I would have to pay 59.00 for the bid. This is very unprofessional and a terrible business practice. I have called around to plenty of organizations to get bids to do work at my home, electrical, plumbing, ceiling work etc. Never have I been asked to pay for the bid. Shopping around gives me an opportunity to ensure I am getting fair price for the work I am asking to be completed, and gives me opportunity to perform more in depth research of the company I am considering. The professionalism of the person providing the quote goes to my decision as well, how they present themselves etc. This was a terrible experience and I am not planning on doing business with this organization again.

He was very thorough and explained in great detail in order to understand who and what needed to be done to correct the situation. This was very helpful to determine whether to go through with the purchase or not.
