Description of Work: I was told by another a/c company that I needed a whole new system on an 8 year old home and the new "just average system" would cost me about $13,000. My sister recommended these folks and they came out at no charge for a second opinion and they told me I needed a new TX valve or something and thought I might still get another year plus out of it if I wanted to wait to replace it and their new systems would be half of that cost. They really seem to know what they are doing and are fast and efficient.

After a call to their office they agreed to expedite a unit that would fit, reduced the cost and all was completed the same day.

Description of Work: The tech called first then came promptly as planned. He went right to work, diagnosed the problem and fixed it after explaining the procedure and the costs. He then explained procedure for a preventative maintenance program which I can follow and that will help decrease a repeat of the issue. Very satisfied.

Description of Work: They were out to do annual service inspection on our A/C unit. We received a discount through Angie's list. Greg was punctual, courteous and did a thorough job. A big improvement over the company we used last year! We will definitely call Bay Area Heating & Cooling next time we need service.

Description of Work: Our A/C was freezing up. In some of our other properties, this was caused by low freon charge. The technician ran the A/C found the problem to be low freon, but also found a few other simple small problems.

Description of Work: It was the first hot day of the spring, which is the day to discover, when turning on the AC, that your 15 years old AC is blowing warm, not frosty cold, air into the house. Bracing for the worst news, I called Bay Area Heating and Cooling, as this company had once before revived the old beast. | | I was amazed when the "technician" arrived exactly as scheduled and was, indeed, the owner of the company; all the regular technicians were out on calls. | |Long story shortened, the AC was revived with an electrical "by pass". The service fee was extremely reasonable and the work was impeccably done. Of course, I was appraised of the fact that the AC's longevity was in doubt. | |When the time comes that this AC has to be put to rest, for once and for all, I will be purchasing one. and have it serviced, from this quality company.

Description of Work: I paid for an annual maintenance check up from BAY AREA . The technician came and "performed" the services which were supposed to include a cleaning and system flush and a general check on the health of my system. He "checked" both the a/c unit and the air handler. He told me that even though the system was old, it was in good shape and should last the entire summer with no problems. |2 1/2 weeks later, my wife came home from work on a Friday and found that the AC would not turn on. She called Bay Area and asked them to send some one as soon as possible. The said it would take an entire day to get someone there. At the time she called, it was 85 inside the house. In June, in Florida... | She finally found someone from a different company who could come later that night. The new technician found that the reason the unit had switched off was because the 2 different overflow pans were full and the auto-shut off took control. He found that ,not only was the drain line clogged with "years" of accumulated gunk, the drain pans were full and the drain line was set up incorrectly so that it couldn't drain properly. It was either installed incorrectly , or changed deliberately. He had no way to know. BUT either way, the AC tech who did the cleaning SHOULD have seen it and fixed it when he examined my AC and "flushed" the line. I do not know if it was intentional ( the new tech said that there were local companies that do that to get repeat business)or just plain incompetence. Either I will NEVER use them again and neither should you.
