Description of Work: We bought a townhouse that was in sad shape. The HVAC was just one component that needed attention (prior owner had replaced only the outside condensor, did not get a permit, did not match to air handler inside, and the installation had some issues). Bay Area Heating & Cooling may have great prices or may be a little high - from the checking I did, I think they're in the ballpark. More important to us was to buy from a company with a great reputation. I was happy to hear that a 2.5 ton unit would be FINE for our needs. The installation is truly a thing of beauty (the county inspector actually asked us if he could take a pic of the air handler installation! ...which was fine by us). Friendly folks, very thorough. Definitely recommend.

Description of Work: I purchased a $55 deal for HVAC Service Call, Diagnostic Check + $50 Credit Toward Service. The service went fine but was not what we were expecting. I thought we would get more options and their pricing was very high. The technician was very pleasant and nice to work with.

After reading your review, we pulled your service ticket and it appears our technician recommended a replacement system based on the condition your current system at the time was in. According to our technician's notes, the compressor was thoroughly rusted and leaking and other parts of the system were rigged or in very rough shape. As for the new system estimate, know that while we aren't always the least expensive option, we do work diligently to keep our pricing competitive and deliver exceptional customer care. In the end, it appears you went a different direction and the only charge you ultimately incurred was that of the Angie's List coupon. The above said, we hope your current system delivers exceptional comfort to you and yours for years to come. Description of Work: Bay Area Heating and Cooling replaced my old split system heater, (it used hot water from water heater to heat air moved by a/c air handler), and my fairly new a/c with heat pump ac/heat system. They were on time and seem to have done a fine job. The city inspector verified that their job was completed properly. The only reason I didn't give them straight A's was because of the price which seemed a little steep.

Description of Work: Replaced AC compressor, handiler with larger units, new programable thermostat, and checked and sealed duct work. Got sevral bids which range from over $8,000.00 to $6,500.00 for exactly the same equipment. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

[removed member name], We apologize that your experience with Bay Area was less than outstanding. In our defense, we took at look at our records and it appears you initially called on December 2nd. We visited the same day and were able to fix a bad wire connection. The following day, December 3rd, our records show your thermostat was changed out by somebody other than us. On December 5th, we received a call from you that the system's heat was not working properly. We scheduled a visit for the 9th and were able to correct a setting on your new thermostat at no charge.
