New system and maintenance
Description of Work: First couple years it went well. They came out and fixed old system the evening of 7/3 without any additional charges. When with I needed a new system I went with them and purchased an expensive Trane system and the yearly maintenance after the first year. Around 18 months after getting the new system they started recommending things that cost $400 or more each time they came to do tune-ups/maintenance. It got to the point that I didn’t want to call them any more. In fact I’m about 8 months late on a tune-up service I paid for and they refused to honor it. I was told they would come out and do it for about $89. I told them I would be doing business with someone else in the future. I gave the a “C” because the first couple of years were good.

It went very well. They were prompt. They cleaned up very well after they were done with the work. They then went back and check the work. They were very helpful and friendly.

Our AC went out on a very hot day and Bay Area Heating & Cooling came out that afternoon. Ken, the technician, did a great job of diagnosing and fixing the problem.
Description of Work: Ken diagnosed the reason our AC wasn't running. All electrical connections were checked; capacitor at condenser was replaced; the transformer was replaced at the air handler. The high pressure switch was reset.

The gentleman said most of the vents were the wrong size, and needed to be replaced. The ductwork was not correct and needed to be replaced. The cost of the system itself was elevated way above other estimates for the same system. He did follow up promptly after giving me the estimate. I went with another company because I am familiar with the HVAC business and felt the estimate was considerably too high.
Description of Work: No work performed. Asked for an estimate. The gentleman that came out was courteous although a bit overbearing about the project. After receiving several estimates that were half the cost of this one, I selected another company.

First they came out and said they could do the work the next day but then the next day said they were booked. Called a week later and they came out that day and put in air handler. We were quoted price for Amana/Goodman but got a different brand instead. We were not happy that they did not inform us of this or adjust the price. The owner offered us an extended warranty instead. He also said he would come out and replace it with the brand we wanted if we wanted. I did not think it would be nice to make them do the work twice so let it go and took the extended warranty. I thought it was good the owner offered.

I had to have access holes put in for them. They referred me to a carpenter who did an excellent job. They did an excellent job of putting in the ducts, while keeping me informed of everything that was going on.

Salesman/system analyst evaluated the system, then provided reasonable options. Firm honored coupon advertised on Angie's List. All work was completed as contracted and on-schedule. Provided excellent workers and quality control. Salesman was present at job start, then inspected system upon installation of equipment, then following clean-up. Met all codes, and passed inspection the first time. Very high standards for quality control. Salesman's motto "I want it like it was being installed at my house."
Description of Work: Replaced 31 year old A/C cooling and gas heating system with new TRANE gas/Ac system. Obtained necessary permits. Updated installation to current codes.

These guys were great. Steve the estimator was prompt for the estimate and had one written up in about 10 minutes. The work was performed by Dave and his partner and they both were very courteous and explained everything they were doing (because I asked). Even though the work was a little more involved than they expected, they completed it just fine, cleaned up nicely after themselves, and left me with nice cold air. I'll definitely consider them for any work in the future.
Description of Work: Move the condenser unit out of the way of a new garage being built. Involved moving both copper lines, wiring and electrical box and drain line.
