Company's employees were great and very courteous. Vicki was a great help in helping me out and assisting me in rescheduling the service. Great job on the cleaning of the ducts, which had not been done ever in the home we just bought.

A/c not operative for several days in upper level of home, naturally was over holiday. Called Bay Air and was confrmed for a Tuesday appt. Jay arrived promptly at noon, investigated problem and repaired the a/c quickly. Cost was reasonable, Jay was prompt and repair performed exactly as stated.

Things went fine. I got the discount from the coupon even though I am an existing customer, which was very nice of them.

Our air conditioner was not coming on, but had only clicking noises. It was getting extremely hot (it was August in FL), so we called Bay Area Heating and Cooling after hours. Somebody came out and used a flashlight to examine our system. They ran a diagnostic test to determine the problem. Luckily it was a capacitor and not something considerably more serious. They also provided excellent advice on maintance and preventive measures that we could take to ensure that our air conditioning system ran smoothly.

Our heat pump finally died after having slowly rusted away in the salt air. We wanted to replace it with a high-efficiency (>15 SEER) unit, and after an extensive internet search we had ruled out several manufacturers on the basis of poor repair records and quality control issues. Among the remaining contenders, we were particularly interested in the latest 21-SEER model from Nordyne (marketed under various labels such as Maytag, Broan, Fridigaire, etc.), but we also wanted to consider Trane and Carrier as industry leaders. We arranged for quotes from Bay Area Heating and Cooling (Trane) and Bayside Heating and A/C (Maytag), both of whom had received highly positive reviews from Angie's List subscribers. Both firms were very responsive and arrived the next day. The representative from Bayside Heating and A/C breezed through, asked what models we were interested in, walked around the outside of the house, and promptly left. A few hours later we received an email with price quotes for the Maytag unit and for a couple of other brands they carry. The price for the Maytag unit was way too high (more than double what we were expecting to spend), and we weren't interested in the other brands on the basis of spotty reputations. Bay Area Heating and Cooling sent John Mulder, the owner. John spent upward of two hours asking questions about our house, measuriing all the windows, and doing a full load calculation as required by Pinellas County. When this was done, he prepared quotes for three different 5-ton Trane units right there on the spot, representing low-, medium- and high-efficiency units. The side-by-side quotes allowed me to calculate how long it would take to re-coup (in terms of lower electrical bills) the cost of progressively higher-efficiency units. It was clear that the added cost of the highest-efficiency (19 SEER) unit likely would never be fully re-couped, but we would be saving money after five years or so with the medium-efficiency (16 SEER) unit. We therefore ruled out the low-efficiency (13 SEER) unit and decided to go with the 16-SEER unit. John demonstrated knowledgeability and thorough professionalism the entire time. He did not try to steer us toward or away from any particular brand or efficiency rating, leaving the final decision up to us, and he patiently answered the thousand or so questions I posed. We decided to contract with Bay Area. John's two-man crew arrived the next morning.and spent the entire day and evening removing the old heat pump and installing the new Trane 16-SEER unit. Being the curious type, I followed them around the entire time, asking what they were doing and why. It was abundantly clear that they were very experienced and knew what they were talking about. Patient, too, because I quizzed them on every tiny aspect of the installation. I was impressed. The unit was ready to go in the early evening, but the installers weren't familiar with the new internet-enabled thermostat Trane was giving away as a promotion that month. They put in a call to John, who arrived shortly thereafter and completed the technical part of the installation. Everything worked fine. Bay Area followed up a few days later by calling to ask if everything was OK, which it was. It has been nearly two months since the work was done, and there have been no problems whatsoever. I even performed a software upgrade a few weeks later, following instructions on the Trane website. No problems. All in all, dealing with John Mulder and his crew was a very pleasant experience. They were knowledgeable, experienced, affable and straightforward. Everything was done right, and everything was cleaned up perfectly. The quality of the Trane unit is apparent. I have nothing but high praise for Bay Area Heating and Cooling.

Had a little misunderstanding with the appointment, They were supposed to be here between 9am -11am. They never showed or called, so I called and they straightened everything out. They got to me with about a 2 hour wait.

Very professional and knowledgeable. Took the time to do the job right and to explain our options.

Estimator did complete load report and gave estimates on recommended systems. Installation took place within week and was handled punctually and professionally.

After losing confidence in two other companies over the past few years and probably paying for several unneeded repairs, it's been a pleasure dealing with Bay Area. They responded quickly to an outage, explained what was defective and quickly had the new parts installed. Both the office and technicians are very personable, professional and very easy to talk with, taking time to answer all questions and concerns.

They always try to sell us something.

Larry showed up and after a very brief description of the problem had it correctly diagnosed within a few minutes.The unit is old enough to warrant replacement and I was very appreciative that Larry took the time to diagnose the actual cause of the leak and attempt the repair. In his own words, he "wanted to at least try to give you another summer or two out of it instead of just replace the system."Because of my first experience with another company a few weeks regarding my home's A/C was horrible and when my tenant called with the "A/C isn't working" problem, I immediately joined Angie's List and found Bay Area Heating & Cooling.Highly recommend Larry for his honesty, willingness to explain what he was doing to a layman, and to find and fix the problem instead of just telling me to replace the system.Highly recommend Larry and Bay Area.

Our air conditioning stopped working on Sunday afternoon. I called the answering service and a technician returned my call about 45 minutes later. I inquired about charges for emergency calls. I was advised there was not an emergency charge per se but a service call fee of $69,99. Fair enough. Then I was advised of a 25% surcharge on parts because it was a weekend. WHAT? I appreciate they advised me in advance but I do not understand a 25% up charge for parts on the weekend. We decided not to use this company.

They did good work. He was here almost an hour an a half while he was finding out what was wrong with my a/c unit. I was very satisfied with the work. He was professional and courteous and on time. I recommend them.

We took advantage of a coupon to get some Freon added to our limping system. Their technician was such a responsive and accommodating that we requested their sales force contact us. Shaun called us the next day and came that afternoon to a**** our system, and make a recommendation. We agreed upon a system and stated that we would get back to them. We got two other estimates, and came back to Bay Area Heating and Cooling to sign the paperwork for a new A/C system. Could not beat their overall package and financing made available. Yep. Can recommend them.

I came home from a trip to discover my AC was not working. They sent a technician out on a Sunday night, although we were unable to gain access to the roof. But, the next morning, they were able to get someone to my place before I had to leave to go out of town for a business trip. The service was punctual, nice, helpful and everything you could ask for. Although the refrigerant was expensive, it would be expensive from any provider. This group did a fine job, and I have already scheduled a tune-up with them.

Larry worked hard in spite of the heat. He made it all appear so easy eventhough I know it was not so. His experience and superior customer service made me feel that I had made the right decision in becoming a member and choosing his company.I now have cool air thanks to him.

My experience with them has been excellent, they are patent in explaining what they are doing and any additional work they will be doing based on their investigation.

My Trane system was installed by Bay Area in Feb 2008 and has been under maintenance contract since that time. Although I've had good experiences with all the service technicians, I'd like to give particular recognition to Dave who serviced my unit this past Friday. Dave was especially professional, polite, and attentive to detail. I appreciated that he wore shoe covers into my home and asked several times if I had had any problems or concerns about the system. He did a very thorough maintenance and inspection and did not appear rushed, even though it was at the end of a long day for him. His efforts to provide excellent service are very much appreciated. I've also enjoyed Vicki, the Office Manager, who has been so helpful and friendly over the years. Vicki does a masterful job of scheduling appointments to accommodate my work schedule, and is always a pleasure to work with. Thanks!

Vince, the technician, was on time and very courteous and performed the service. He advised us that we had a slight Freon leak and suggested that we have it repaired now or sometime in the near future. Since it would cost us $300 to $400 dollars to have it fixed, I elected to wait awhile since we are on a limited income, but I appreciated his honesty.

I had Bay Area install a new HVAC system for me in ~2009 and had a decent enough experience that I called them again when I needed another HVAC system in a new house. Although John came out to do an initial looksee, I had questions and had asked for some rough estimates, but couldn't get a response. Again, I was a former customer that had spent ~$7500.00 with them just ~1.5 years earlier. I tried 5-6 times but couldn't get answers, return calls or follow up despite repeated promises from the very nice gal who answers their phone. I wound up putting a pin in the project for ~5 months, then - since John does seem knowledgable about system design - I called them again when I started the (estimate) process back up. I inquired online; they called me to let me know they'd received my inquiry and were "working on" getting back in touch with me ... only to completely drop the ball AGAIN!?!?! They are absolutely, unequivocally, ridiculously poor at follow-up & follow through.

I purchased a vacation home in March of 2012. One month later, my AC wasn't working. I called Bay Area Heating & Cooling, Inc, and they had an mechanic out within an hour. Being an older home, we determined that the cost to complete the necessary repairs of the existing system was not worth the investment, so i agreed to replace it with a new one. By that afternoon, an estimator arrived. He completely assessed my existing system, ductwork, size of house, etc. and gave me multiple options to replace the old system. I chose to completely redo the entire system including the ductwork in the home and bring my AC system up to code. The cost of installing the top of the line system vs the next model down was negligible after the discounts and rebates they found for me, so I gave them the green light to install the recommended system. Being late Friday, I was told by their consultant, Shaun (who supervised the whole job from start to finish) that he would start first thing Monday Morning. Since I was completely without AC, he and his partner brought over a portable AC unit and installed it in out bedroom so we could have a good nights sleep until the new unit was installed. Monday, two crews arrived. All of the technicians were experienced professionals. They worked non-stop, ripping out the old system and replacing it with the new system. They consulted me about the returns, locating the new equipment, etc. every step of the way. They took nothing for granted. This was a major install as they essentially completely rebuilt my AC system from the ground up. After three full days, the new system was up and running. My house and garage was left cleaner than when they started. Even the owner stopped by to inspect the work. Bay Are Heating & Cooling, Inc is a highly professional organization. If you are looking for the best in this field, I strongly suggest you give them a call. You will not be disappointed.

On time and professional. If you just want everything done right the first time this is your company. If you are looking for the best deal this isn't it as I found their prices to be a good bit higher than other companies in the area for every service delivered.
