It was good. They did a real good job. They have had some very helpful hints how to save little two to three years which is little bit of money. They recommended getting the cool clean, which I had done, that was an extra service, it cost me little more, but it needs to be done. I would use them again.

Good Things ------------------ Salesperson was professional and had the right knowledge. AC unit installation was good. They came on time and finished the job on time. When you call their office, people incharge of receiving calls are very nice and friendly. They messed up one vent during installation but then eventually fixed it. Bad Things ---------------- A little pricy than other quotes that I received. Once the paper work was finalized the salesperson got a little rude. Service Engineer who came at the time of installation did some wrong settings (which were later fixed on the subsequent visit) The people who came for the installation were smoking in the garage, which I did not like, at all. Overall, it went well.

My rating is based on this experience only. They scheduled the appointment and showed up on time and sanitized the ducts. Since then, they have replaced both of my ac units. They also do normal maintenance on the units. They are also who I call anytime I have an issue with the AC. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They do seem to be a bit understaffed because they have had to reschedule the routine maintenance work quite a bit. For this particular job for the sanitizing and diagnostic, they did a great job and overall they seem like a good company.

On April 3, Mark came out to perform a maintenance check. At that time he told me that the hard start kit should probably be replaced since the starting value was much higher than recommended. At that time I thanked him and filed the information away for future reference. At the end of May we started to have problems: the A/C would not come on but after "rebooting" it it worked just fine for another couple of weeks. And then it happened again and finally - the last week in July I remembered what he had said about the hard start unit. I called Vicky who told me that they were swamped but that she would try to get someone to my daughter's house. About 4 hrs later she called me with the good news that she found an opening for Mark to come the next day. (NOTE: I saw a few remarks that no one called back etc. I simply can not believe it and if so, there must have been reasons beyond their control.) Mark came - replaced the hard start and everything has worked beautifully since then. And we lived happily ever after ......

Like the previous post from 8/16/13, we also called and we were told that someone will call and never did. How awful, unprofessional from whom ever was on call that I guess picks and choose what he/she might think is a worth repair job. You got one very upset mother at 2am with newborn and a toddler.

Dear Member, I carefully reviewed your complaint and could find no merit or truth to your claim. You called our answering service requesting trouble shooting advise on a non working thermostat. At no time did you indicate this was an after hours emergency service call,or did you request a technician to be dispatched, just that fact you wanted trouble shooting advise. The time you called our after hours line was 10:48 pm according to our data, our office staff called you back first thing the next day at 8:12 am and left you 2 voice mails. So I am confused as to the less than complimentary review.

Came out almost 2 hours late after the 3pm-5pm window and told me I only bought 1 voucher and since I have 2 units they could only service 1. The next day I spoke to the operate there and she apologized that they did not ask me if I had 1 or 2 units, and agreed they should have and did not do anything to resolve the problem.

Unit was running much better after the freon was put in. So far so good and no further issues since he came out.
Description of Work: Technician looked over the unit which was running inefficiently. He said it needed 3 lbs of freon at $92 a pound. He recharged the unit and let us know that it would need to be replaced soon due to ware and age.

Technician was within time window agreed to. He checked over the inside the house part of the unit first and after about 20 minutes or so he said he was unable to access the coils so he couldn't clean them. He then went and checked the section that is outside behind the house. He came in and said that he would recommend a capacitor. He said that my unit was fairly old and maybe the new capacitor would help it last a little longer before replacement. As I know nothing about a/c and am on fixed income I do need to extend the life as long as I can, I agreed to the capacitor at a hefty $154. I mentioned that the lights sometimes flicker when the ac starts up and he recommended replace the "kick start" which would help and also help prolong ac life. That set me back $184. I really haven't seen where the kick start helped the flickering lights much. I have also haven't noticed any difference in the ac performance to know if the the capacitor was faulty or about to go out, So I'm not sure if I was taken advantage of but I sure feel like it! I won't use this company in the future.

Signed up for the Angie's list deal 2 maintenance service calls for a year. The guy was nice and serviced the a/c he said we needed a new run and start capacitor as ours only had about 10 to 20% life. Was going to be well over $500 . We decided not to have him install it since we have American Home Shield. So he said ok and put them back in. The next day our A/C went out, we already had a call into American Home shield but we had 2 miserable days of 88 degree temps in the house. AHS sent a technician over that showed us that one of the connectors on one of the capacitors were burned out and said we didn't need to replace the capacitors.

About 5 weeks ago, called Bay Area out to check my unit that was failing to cool the house and they promptly sent Jay out the next day when I would be home. He cleaned and evaluated the unit and found the leak among the evaporator coils. He recharged the unit, ensured proper functioning and warned that a new unit would likely be in my future. I told him, fine, I would continue to use this unit and save my nickels and dimes until I needed another charge. 2 weeks ago, when the unit was failing to cool the house again, I called them to send out the sales guy to give me an estimate and write up an order. He came out the following day and gave me a quote which include full ten year parts and labor warranty and the Payne 5 ton 13 seer unit. I was scheduled for the replacement install 2 weeks later. In the meanwhile, he had a tech come out that afternoon and give my unit a free boost charge to carry me to my install date. Then on schedule, Mark and another tech showed up on time and within 4 hours pulled the old unit and slab, installed new duct work under the house, laid new slab and installed the new unit. The house never got more than 85F (it was 92F outside!!!). The install and clean up was done professionally and to our satisfaction. They even replaced the thermostat with new one that was a full digital control. Mark thoroughly explained how to work it.
Description of Work: Replaced my 9+ year old package air/heating (heatpump) outdoor unit with a new, more efficient one. My old unit had a bad leak in the evaporator coils and since it was at the end of its parts lifetime, a new unit was the most cost effective in the long term since I am retiring next year.

I called them in the am and I was sent a tech the same day in the afternoon . Their tech Marc was terrific! He came in looked at my air condition unit outside, then looked at my upstairs unit and knew right away what it was. He went to get the part I needed and within a few minutes after installing the part.....I was able to feel cool again! Great Tech! Great Customer Service! Makes a Great Great Company! Their service is very good. The installation took a long time but it was an old system. The only issue I've had is that they told me that it shouldn't be any red light showing on the board. There was some red light, I called them and over a month it seems working. There are no more red lights but he couldn't find the error that they were supposed to get and do on one of the computer boards. Probably, the problem was on the manufacturing but it is taking an awfully long time to replace the parts but the system is working.

I worked with Shaun Mines for an HVAC system replacement. He was very prompt, polite, thorough, professional, and very knowledgeable. He was upfront with everything and provided excellent insight into the HVAC world. I was very impressed with Shaun and represents Bay Area Heating and Cooling very well. After Shaun evaluated my HVAC needs, he quickly produced various proposals on the different HVAC configurations. He even provided comps to competing products that his company does not sell. Although I ultimately purchased my new HVAC system with another company, I would highly recommend Bay Area Heating and Cooling to anyone in the market for a new HVAC system.
