It went very well, the technician was very thorough, he probably spent around 2 hours inspecting and cleaning our entire A/C system and gave me some tips to help cut down on our cooling costs. We expected we may need new equipment or some repairs, but after the tune-up everything is running like new.

We've had Bay Area Heating & Cooling out twice, for 2 separate issues, and both times they have responded immediately to my Angie's list contact, and were out the next day. Very impressive service. Very professional and respectful. I also like the way both techs explained what they were doing in terms I could understand (as a non-AC tech), but they didn't talk down to me at all. Definitely a great company, with great employees! Thank you!

Description of Work: The provider did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I called on a Friday evening due to my inside unit leaking. I got a call an hour and a half later from Barry saying they were busy servicing "PREMIER CUSTOMERS" and I should look for another provider. I've never been so insulted in my life. Apparently if you're not a "PREMIER CUSTOMER", you don't rate with this company!

After reading your review, we spoke to our on-call tech in an effort to understand your frustration. To be clear, we prioritize customers based on when they call. Those who call first are served first. This said, the term "premier" is not accurate. According to our tech, he informed you his schedule for the evening was full and invited you to call another service provider or call back in the morning. He was simply not going to be able to visit you the evening you called and was providing options. As for the hour and half wait for a call, this is not typical or acceptable and we do apologize. We hope you were able to get your system fixed to your satisfaction. We also hope if you have issues in the future, you will give us an opportunity to make things right. We originally purchased & scheduled the "BIG Deal" for an A/C tune-up with Bay Area Heating and Cooling to get us through the hot summer knowing we needed to replace our 10+ year old unit. The technician came out and said we would be wasting our money having him "service" the unit as the ductwork in the attic had collapsed and we were trying to cool the attic air. This was news to us! We knew the house seemed hotter than normal and the A/C unit was working it's hardest but not cooling the house. Not to mention our electric bill was over $400 for the month of July! The technician said he could repair the ductwork to get us through if that is what we wanted but we really needed a new unit (which we already knew). We really liked his presentation and professionalism. He gave us a quote and was ready to schedule the work the following day. We felt the quote seemed a bit high priced and scheduled (3) other companies to come out and provide quotes. Comparing apples to apples we had another company come in a bit lower in price however we were not impressed. We chose Bay Area Heating and Cooling over the other companies. We called to schedule and they came out and replaced the collapsed ductwork, installed a new air handler and A/C unit. The job took 2 days to complete and we are very happy with our decision. The new unit keeps the house very comfortable and our electric bill dropped by $200 the first month! Can't say enough about the company, their response time, and their professionalism. We would definitely recommend them to others and will use their services again if/when needed!

Bay Area Heating and Cooling was not the cheapest quote I received, but I went with them for several reasons. I believe that you get what you pay for. With a job like this you are paying a company for the install of a product. If you make your selection based on the lowest price, don't expect a great install. They were prompt and responsive during the quoting. They had a professional appearance about them. These are the reasons I went with Bay Area. They arrived promptly and worked hard to complete the install the same day, despite some obstacles with removing my old air handler. No fault of there own. The install was done professionally and everything is working great. The installers cleaned up after themselves and were courteous.
Description of Work: Bay Area Heating and Cooling installed a new Trane heat pump outside and air handler in the attic.

We had been running the a/c around the clock to reduce the humidity and help dry out a room in our home that flooded. As a result the drain line became clogged. Bay Area came right away and got the a/c running again. The price reflects an "after hours" service call which was quoted to us when we called. These problems never seem to occur during regular business hours, so we were just glad they were available to help us!
Description of Work: Our a/c quit on Sunday morning and Bay Area fixed it the same day.

For 5 years we've been dealing with this disgusting odor from our air conditioner every spring when we switched from heat to cold air. We've had 3 other HVAC companies make suggestions and try fixes but nothing was permanent. I even had one repair guy say, "I don't smell anything" and tell me there was nothing to fix! We did everything we were told, spent a pile of money and the smell still didn't go away. This year it was so bad we thought we'd have to go to a motel. While researching "dirty sock syndrome" on the internet, I was delighted to find a local company, Bay Area Heating & Cooling, who knew all about it. I spoke with Chris Gordene who said they have resolved 99% of probably 200 cases with an epoxy-coated coil so bacteria can't adhere. We were thrilled to find someone who understood - and believed - what we were talking about! He made arrangements with Trane to provide a new coil, which was coated and sent directly to Bay Area. Our attic opening was too small to get the new coil into the attic so the installers had to remove the cold air return grill to open up enough room. They replaced our old coil with the new, epoxy coated one. They used a sanitizer machine to mist the ducts and neutralize anything that got past the old coil. They cleaned & sprayed the whole unit when everything was open in the attic, made some other improvements and put everything back together. So far, so good. Next spring when we turn off the heat and switch to cool air will be the real test but we have a lot of confidence Bay Area has fixed our problem.
Description of Work: We had a new Trane heat pump installed by another company in 2010. Every spring since then we've had an absolutely horrendous odor coming from our vents when we turned on the air conditioning. It smells like a stagnant wet rag and is called "Dirty Sock Syndrome." Bay Area is the only company I found who was familiar with the condition and knew how to fix it.

First things first, I will give kudos where they are due, the guys that came to do the work initially did a good job, they were prompt, on time, courteous, efficient, and they knew what they were doing. That's where the positivity ends... I had a four month ordeal, and ordeal is putting it nicely. Originally on the contract, that they stated was a mistake, they included an 8kw heating unit on my quote. Fine, the man that did the scheduling, set up, and quote also said they would take care of all the electrical and everything. Going from there the company installed a 5 kw heating unit and did not tell me they did this. I called same day to let them know the unit in the garage was pushing air out and that they had installed the wrong unit as well. They sent someone out the next day, good turn around. The gentleman advised me that it is suppose to push air out because this is a new type of unit than what I'm use to from the old way, fine. He put some tape around the housing for me to put my mind at ease and stated he would have someone call to speak to the wrong heating unit being placed on the handler. No call for a few days. I called and requested to know why, I was later told that it was because my electrical system would not handle an 8kw unit, ok fair. I requested a refund for the difference and was told it would only be a couple of bucks, so the gentleman then offered to extend the service contract another year. I agreed and we were good to go. I then asked that they would schedule the inspection so I could get that squared away and going. The inspection day came and passed, and no one called, no one showed, nothing. I called them back and asked why, she said she was unsure, so at this point because of the lack of communication I was pretty furious as this had been the second occurrence of this happening. We then scheduled another time, this time they said the inspection had happened, and that I was good to go, found this out when I called to reschedule the inspection again after no one showed up. I was pretty upset at this point, so I then informed them that that was impossible unless he was Houdini or a burglar no one had come in or out of my house. I then requested that in lieu of the extension they put in what was originally on the contract and they eat the cost to upgrade the electrical as was stated to me originally. The gentleman I was working with advised he would have to talk to the owner to get that ok'd. I said fine. The owner called me a couple of times, which I will admit I missed, but I called back and left messages shortly after. Due to the nature of my work I cannot answer calls all day. I advised the members of the office staff of this several times. When I did get ahold of the owner he and I had a conversation where in he agreed to have his contractor from a different company come out and rerun the wire that was the reason I could not have the 8kw unit for free, which I appreciate. I did not ask anything further of them than what was originally promised at this point, and I also told him that after the inspection I would be done with my business with them and would not be using the two service check ups. They came out ran the line, then installed the new unit a couple of days later. Then there were more issues with the inspection, one of which was missed because my street flooded and no one could get in or out of the neighborhood. I cannot blame that on them. It was not until after that time however, that they realized I needed to sign an authorization form from Hillsborough county and send in a copy of my drivers' license and have it notarized before they could get an inspection. Once this was done the inspector finally came out at the end of August or early September and cleared the unit. Whether they have confirmation of this or not, I am unsure as to this day no one has contacted me stating they received the inspector's report. (par for the course) Bottom line, there were misgivings on both ends, but it took the threat of me disputing the charge for a nearly 10000.00 ac unit with my credit card company to get anything to happen.
Description of Work: I had Bay Area move my ac unit from my attic to my garage and set up a new condensing unit outside and a new unit in the garage.

My old air conditioning unit was 14 years old and had started to give me problems. I called Bay Area Heating and Cooling and they had a representative (Shawn) at my house the next day (8/11/15) providing us with various options on replacing the unit. On Friday morning (8/14/15) a new unit was installed and is working perfectly.

We came home from work and the ac wasn't working as usual. I tried a few things but the inside fan kept stopping. I found this provided and gave them a call at 8:30 a.m. The serviceman was at my house by 11:40 that same morning and was able to get the system running great again by 2:15 p.m. I will be contacting this provided again for checkups, etc.

I've been using Bay Area Heating & AC for about a year & a half for maintenance of the AC system in my home. I found them on Angie's List & had been very happy with their maintenance techs. I got quotes from 3 different providers on several Trane units, and Bay Area came in with the best price, and I really had a great experience with Shaun the sales rep. He was extremely knowledgeable about Trane systems, and he didn't pressure at all, but he did guide me to a system that I feel is going to meet my needs. They were able to get the install scheduled in two days, and their guys did a very professional job with the install. They did a great job with the install and guided me through setting up the wifi enabled thermostat. If you want a company that you can trust with employees who do a quality, expert job, then you should not hesitate to go with Bay Area Heating & AC.

One of our AC systems was losing its compressor (making a terrible noise). We talked through options, not all of them related to the company, and we chose to go with Bay Area's option and get a new system.
Description of Work: They (Jerry, who was very pleasant and knowledgeable) came out, checked out our 2 AC systems, diagnosed a problem, and gave us options. No pressure, honest, informative. Excellent care and Jerry is a gem.

It appears the original unit was not installed properly and would require an uninstall and then reinstall. We spoke with the installation manager manager one time, he said he would call back and has not. He has not returned any of our 6 calls to the office. First technician was great and the service department was very responsive on scheduling a service call Perhaps maintenance is their forte as we had a reinstall job they don't want or have the courtesy to tell us they are unable to handle. Very unprofessional to tell us they would call. We are moving on but truly give them an F in the areas above.

Originally couldn't schedule me until the next week. But then they called back and said they had an opening the next day. The tech was able to fit me in in the morning so I didn't have to wait for 4 hours. Phil (service tech) was very professional. Fixed the problem in less than an hour . First time using this company.
