Description of Work: My AC died on a Sunday, they fit me in on Monday afternoon even though they were booked. They ame out, and I wound up spending $580 on the repair and complete tune up on an 11 year old system. I have been wondering when it would die, as it is the original system installed during construction, so I requested a consultation for a new system. They came out and offered to credit me the full $580 if I decided to go forward with the install. That was quite an incentive, considering I may have to do it anyway in the next couple of years, so I went ahead. They came and realized the install would require some extra work that they had not planned on and did it at no extra charge. I also was going to install a drain along side the house for the condenser runoff, but they told me not to bother and did that as well, no charge. I did not bother getting other quotes, based on other users reviews, so I really don't know how they stack up in that area, but based on my research and overall experience I am sure they are competitive. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: I called first thing on a Monday because late Sunday night the drain had clogged on the AC unit in my attic and water was coming through the ceiling onto the garage floor. Monday's are a very busy business day but Bay Area sent the technician Dave out immediately to correct the problem.Once he had assessed the problem he discussed each recommendation with me. I was pleased with his work and professional attitude. The only suprise to me was a charge of $69.95 for the trip. I would recommend Bay Area to my friends. It was great that they send Dave out immediately.

Description of Work: My air conditioner "died" one evening and Gulf Coast came the next day - i was so happy. I had used Angie's list to find someone reliable in June when they came for servicing and was very pleased with their service. This time there was a crack in a PVC male adapter leaking into the overflow pan and that tripped the safety switch. What I most appreciate is their honesty - it was a small fix but important and they did not make up anything (I have had trouble with another company in the past). I recommend Gulf Coast Heating and AC Highly and without reservation.

Description of Work: My husband and I are not originally from the area and were a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of finding a reputable, accountable and affordable AC repair company. Using the positive reviews on Angie's List we contacted Bay Area Heating & Cooling. The woman I spoke to, Vicki, was very helpful. We arranged for an appointment the next day at 6 pm. When my husband found out he had the day off, they were very flexible and came that morning instead. The owner himself came out and was very patient and through with us, describing the issues with our 15 year old unit. He explained several options including a short term fix, a longer term fix, and of course, the obvious option for a unit this old, a new one. He provided an estimate on site. We asked about financing options, and he informed us of those as well. Bay Area went above and beyond and we truly appreciate it.

Description of Work: UPDATE: 5/19: A representative from AL phoned and stated that it was probably their fault for the misrepresentation/confusion about the big deal for this service provider. They do not service my area. The service provider had left a message on my recorder informing me that they would schedule an appointment with me to provide the service. After hearing the voice mail from Angie's List I understand what happened. I thank the company for wanting to honor this big deal even though they do not service my area, but I do not wish to have them incur any further trouble and expense. After purchasing the big deal for a complete AC tune-up, we called for an appt. A pleasant gentleman answered the phone, I informed him of the Angie's List special we were calling about and he was pleasantly surprised that we found him on Angie's List. He began asking for our address info and such and I inquired why since he had stated he was "outside" and the customer service lady was a bit tied up. He stated he would provide the information to her for her to call us. I did so. A lovely lady called us to apologize sweetly that unfortunately they did not serve this area. I found that awfully strange since it's at most 45 - 60 minutes from Brandon. She stated they had called Angie's List to have this corrected. I don't see any update on their Big Deal announcement. I spoke with a gentleman at Angie's List and he took care of refunding the fee and offered assistance on locating another service provider.

Description of Work: Due to a cancellation, Bay Area H/AC was able to show up the same day we called; very pleased with this. :) Our small condo unit was not cooling like it should. We chose this company due to the advertised Free Diagnostic check. As we expected the unit was low on freon. Surprised to get the bill for Diagnostic fee of $80 + lbs of freon $90.00. Tech told us an additional $69 fee was waived due to us being Angie's List members; yikes... Guess we got a deal? Their service was quick. But price seemed out of line; 25 minutes max time to add freon. Will probably give them one more chance if necessary; this time we'll ask price questions UPFRONT. No surprises this way. Not in the dog house but on a short leash!

Description of Work: I received an estimate. They were prompt, thorough, professional. After much decision making, we went with the people we had been using for 30 years. Bay Area seems like a very good company to do business with. Their bid price for the large $9632.00 job seemed reasonable.
