The owner came out within a decent time and told us we needed a new motor. This was on November 11th. He took my old motor. A week went by and no word from him. The answer was that the motor had not come in and he could not find the tracking information. another week goes by and the same message was given. In fact, then, he would ignore phone calls and not return them. Finally, I called him on Monday the 25th and he said the motor had come in. I had explained to him we needed it by Thanksgiving because we had a handicapped guest and needed the access that gate provides. He never called. Then on Monday Dec. 2nd he picked up the phone and said he had broken his leg and could not do anything, but said he would get back to me by 2PM that day to try to arrange something. Two days went by and I called him twice with him not picking up the phone or responding to pleas for an update, with a consoling word about his leg. Still no return call. Tuesday the 10th he actually picked up the phone and said we should just not go on with the order at this time. I got mad and hung up. He called me back in a while from a different line. I calmed down and asked him if I could just pick up the motor since he already paid for it and I would pay him for it. He EMPHATICALLY said yes, that he would call someone and have it taken out of the warehouse and call me within 2 hours. This is the next day and I have heard NOTHING.

THEY CAME OUT TO MEASURE FOR THE NEW DOOR IN A COUPLE OF DAYS OF CALLING THEM. THEN IT TOOK A LOT OF PHONE CALLS TO GET THEM TO COME OUT AND INSTALL THE NEW DOOR. THEY PROMISED TO COME THREE TIMES BEFORE THEY DID SHOW UP TO DO THE INSTALL. I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN BECAUSE YOU CANNOT COUNT ON THEM TO SHOW UP AND DO THE WORK!!

My automatic garage door had caught on something on a top shelf in my garage, which caused undue stress on the motor, which in turn caused an internal part to be damaged, and caused the chains and pulley's to come off. I checked angieslist and called a couple of places that were recommended but Kurt with American Door Company responded quickly and came right out. He examined the situation and within a few minutes he had diagnosed the problem and let me know how much it would cost and how much time it would take. It all seemed reasonable to me and he went to work. I went inside to continue preparing dinner, and within about 45 minutes he had completed the job and was already cleaning up. What I really liked was that I asked him about completely replacing the garage doors, and instead of jumping on the opportunity to make a sale, he advised that I really didn't need new doors, but that a little extra maintenance would keep my current doors operating for many years to come. I appreciated that advice and asked him to give me a bid on the maintenance, which he sent me by email a few days later. No pressure - no awkwardness - just good service at a reasonable price!

My garage door wouldn't close. I called American Door for a free estimate and they came out and quickly figured out the issue and fixed me issue at no charge. They pointed out if it happens again, it should be repaired and laid out the cost which seems quite reasonable. They were very responsive and professional. Will be calling them for all future needs.
