Terminix - Tampa -Termite & Pest Control

My experiene with Terminix was great. They did a good job. They did what they were supposed to do for the price they said they were going to charge. I've been seeing them for years.

The service was satisfactory. However, the billing process has been confusing. They sent me two bills and they have no idea why. We are still trying to work the billing situation out.

Constant missed appointments without calls. Very difficult to schedule. Overall, extremely bad customer service.

I represent 195 Condo units in Sarasota that have an existing contract with Terminex. We have been trying to contact a Sarasota Manager to arrange our annual interior and exterior inspection for over two months and the company has not been responsive. Apparently two "MANAGERs"?? are on medical leave, but somebody must be in charge! We arrange for the units to be available (no small task) so that the inspectors work can be most productive, but a secretary tells us we can't schedule until June or later. Not acceptable!

They are very responsive. If I see a spider, they will be right out to treat it. I would highly recommend them. I initially contacted them because I have silver fish in the house. I no longer have to worry about any insects crawling around my house. I plan on continuing to use them when I move to my new house.

I just renewed my annual termite guarantee with terminix once again (have had it since 2009, with termite coverage transferred from the previous owner, who had coverage since the late 90s.). We were remodeling the home and found termite damage to the home. (a couple beams). The technician stated he had to send a manager. the manager came out and left. I called and left voicemails and also sent emails to no avail. I called corporate and they assigned it to another "manager" who came out to inspect the home. he stated the termite damage was old and was not covered. i told him the prior owner had coverage through them since the about 2000 and we should be covered. He then stated that the old owner had prior termite damage on that wall (said there was something in their records that was marked with an "X" on that wall) and that it would not be covered under the warranty. I have now asked them to send me all of that stuff and show where that is in my contract, since when they inspected our home, they said we were good to go and that we were covered. every years since 2009 they have reinspected the home and have said we are good to go. well low and behold we found termite damage in in a beam (main support beam) and they stated that it was not covered because of something they said was in the old contract from 2000. no evidence can be sent to me (i requested a copy of that and was denied). so we hired a contractor to repair the dmaage on our dime, canceled terminix, and requested a refund. lets see if i actually get that. On a side note, their pest control is great, no complaints with the bug service.

We are well pleased with their services. The same guy always comes. It is nice that we could tell where the problem is like where roaches are getting in. He has a tendency to make sure he sprays that area well next time. He is very friendly.

The guy who came out did not do a complete inspection. His comments were if he looked he would find termites but he never looked for them. Since this time I have had a complete inspection and no termites were found.

We did not receive updates or communication in a timely manner from any member of Terminex regarding our rat removal process. We were extemely disappointed with the level of service provided. EVERY day that work was done in our home, we had to come home to clean up insulation and debris from the inside of our house - the ducts were not sealed and rat feces and debris were left scattered everywhere, including our children's beds. Upon sharing this information with management of Terminex, we received NO resolution - and continued to have the same issue recurring. The timeliness of the service was also extended out over 2 weeks longer than we were told. This caused us to go through SEVERAL cold fronts without heat for our family. We also had to cancel our air conditioning provider installation due to Terminex not providing an accurate estimate of timing. I do not feel that the service provided was worth the $8,500 we paid.

I've just had enough. They no-show on appointments and they just don't do what they say they will do.

I called Terminix in May 2012 to report a scratching noise in my attic. I told them that the noise always seemed to be in the same place and only very early in the morning -- right around 3:45 - 4:00 am. I'd usually only hear the scratching noise for a few seconds and usually only once a day. I also said that it seemed like the "something" was scratching on the ceiling (one the other side of the drywall) but that I had blown in insulation so "something" would need to borrow down into the insulation to sound like it was scratching on the ceiling. I also reported that I'd gone out and walked around my one story home to see if I could find an entry point for any type in "critter". I found an area at the back of my house where about 2 feet of the aluminum fascia had been bent out and wondered if that was a point of entry. Terminix technician #1 showed up on time and I showed him the area on the ceiling in my bedroom where I thought the noise was coming from. I also walked him around to the back of the house to see the bent out fascia. He went up into my attic and spent a good 15 minutes walking around up there. He reported that he saw no evidence of any type of animal activity, no droppings, no food, no evidence of infestation. He said that in the area where I heard the noise (which was close to an air intake in the master bedroom), there was no evidence that the blown in insulation had been disturbed. He didn't know what was causing the noise. He then told me that Terminix offered services that would fix the fascia on the house to prevent any entry in that area. He asked if I'd like to get an estimate from them on fascia repair. (Technician #1 did not get a ladder to check out the area where the fascia was bent out. He only looked at the fascia from the ground) I replied that I like to get the estimate for the fascia repair. So far, so good --- now the trouble starts. The same day, I got a call from Jonathan Camp - Terminix Technician #2 -- the guy to provide the estimate for fascia repair. We made an appointment for the next day. Jonathan showed up on time and told me that he was here to do a rodent/rat inspection. I told him that that had already been done (by terminix technician #1) and I was only expecting an estimate for fascia repair. I told Jonathan that the first technician found no sign of any animal problem in the attic. Jonathan replied that that was why he had been called. He said that Technician # 1 had no experience in animal problems or identifying problems from rats/mice/squirrels etc. Jonathan went up into my attic for less than 5 minutes. My attic access is in the garage. Although the "scratching noise area" was at the back of my house (which I showed to Jonathan from inside the house and that area is 25 to 30 feet away from the attic access), I never lost sight of Jonathan while I was standing at the foot of the attic access ladder. In other wrords, he didn't go anywhere near the area where I heard the noise. BUT, when he came back down to the garage, he said that I had clear signs of a rat problem and was on the way to an infestation. He said that he saw "borrow holes" in the insulation and that there was clear evidence of rats. He went out to his vehicle to write up an estimate. We sat eye to eye across my dining room table to review this estimate. Jonathan's written estimate offered two solutions -- one for $3,760.000 and the other for $4,950.00. Jonathan's estimate was presented on a piece of paper with the heading, "Terminex Termite and Pest Insulation" The estimate also included a sheet on Terminix insulation and the benefits provided by said insulation for keeping out heat, cold and helping to control pests. The insulation fact sheet mentions lots of bugs --- cockroaches, silverfish, ants, earwigs, etc. etc. but not one word about controlling or irritating rats, mice and squirrels. ( I'd been getting regular mailings from Terminix on the benefits of adding this insulation to my home for several years.) Jonathan's estimate were a broken down as follows: Estimate 1 exclusion work -------------------- $ 750.00 cost of disinfection/deodorant --- 1,950 INSULATION R38 price ............. 1,060 TOTAL .........................................$3,760 Estimate 2 had an insulation price of $2250 (for R50). The increase in insulation brought the total up to $4,950. This of course is the one Jonathan recommended. The estimate sheet also contained data on how much my energy savings would be (for the record, I already have r-30 blown in. I asked Jonathan if my rat infested, rat dropping filled insulation would be removed and he said no -- the new terminex insulation would be put on top of what I already had. I asked how this had suddenly turned into an insulation job with discussions on energy savings -- I wanted to get rid of whatever was in my attic. As for the deodorant/dissinfectant, Jonathan said that without that treatment I was asking for trouble. The "rat scent" would continue to encourage rats to get into my attic. Jonathan told me that he could have men on site the next day to do the work. He told me that I could find rats in the house if I didn't act quickly. He provided me with a diagram he had drawn showing multiple points of entry that he found in my attic -- including an area of my house with a raised ceiling where he could not possibly have inspected (but I already mentioned that I never lost sight of him while he was in my attic -- he didn't do any inspection where he could have seen the areas he marked as points of "clear rat entry". He said that without the disinfection/deodorant treatment, my house would be like a magnet to all the rats/mice in the neighborhood. Rats, he said, leave a scent that attracts more rats. He said that the insulation was treated to be an irritant to the rats and would encourage them to leave. I asked him how the first Terminex Tech could have been so wrong as to be just as certain that I had no evidence of a rat problem. Jonathan said that Tech #1 had no training in infestations -- that's why Tech #1 called him to come and inspect the situation. Jonathan never mentioned baiting, traps or other treatments until I asked. He said they can't use traps or bait because they might be found by pets or children (in my attic?). I told him that his estimate was a lot of cash and no gaurantee that I'd be "critter free". Jonathan said that the services/items in his estimate were the only way to go and that any other pest company offering less would be a waste of my money. I told Jonathan I never made decisions at this monetary level without sleeping on my decision. He got angry (visibly angry and clearly angry from his tone) and said that I wasted his time. He again mentioned that I could have rats in the house and that he might not be able to schedule a crew to do the work until much later in the month if I didn't take the opening available the next day. I told Jonathan I'd call him in a day or two and give him my final answer. I called two other Pest Control companies (with high Angie's list ratings of course) to inspect the situation in my attic. Technicians from both of those companies said there was no evidence rat/mouse/squirrel problem in my attic. No droppings, no "borrow holes". One company (my new pest control company) actually got a ladder and climbed up to look at the bent out fascia on the back of the house == (something that no one from Terminix bothered with). That Pest company rep. told me that there was no sign of entry where the fascia was damaged (he took cell phone pictures to show me that too) but that I had wood rot where water had collected. (I had that repaired by an Angie's list roofing company for a lot less that the "exclusion work" estimate from Terminix.) I called Jonathan after the other companies had completed their inspections and told him that I would not be needing his services. He wanted to know why. I told him that 3 technicians told me that I didn't have a rat problem. He said that they didn't know how to identify borrow holes. I've waited 5 months to write this review to be sure that there is no rat problem. I also need to clam down from feeling like Terminix had my number. I called Terminix a couple of days later and cancel my account with them. The customer service rep. was very nice and wanted to know my reason for cancellation since I was a long standing customer. She asked if she could give details of my experience to a manager and if it would be OK for a manager to call me. I never heard back from anyone. OH -- the scratching noise. In October 2011, I had a new air conditioner installed. It's a much better unit than the builder put in and needed more air intake than the old unit. The HVAC contractor had to add an additonal new air intake and per my request they put that new intake in the ceiling in the master bedroom -- close to where I was hearing my scratching noise. The new air intake has a filter. When the filter isn't seated correctly, the A/C until sucks the filter up against the air intake frame and the filter bending against the air intake causes the "scratching" noise. Apparently from Oct 2011 until May 2012 -- I got the filters seated correctly when I changed them. The filter in the unit in May however produced the scratching noise until it was changed. My unit happened to click on when I was pulling out the May 2012 filter. I was on a ladder under the air intake --- scratching noise identified. Very glad I didn't spend thousands of dollars with Terminex to avoid my "infestation".

Unresolved major issue. It appears that this company will not cover my damage.

I decided to use them because Terminix was just the name I knew.

They responded right away and we didn't have a problem. We had an excellent technician. We had a cancellation on an appointment and we were able to extend about half an hour when we called with a problem. We had a cancellation and they came right over and fixed the problem. They were just coming the next day but because it was important they sent somebody else and took care of those.

I stopped using them since they were to expensive in comparison to others and also because they could not resolve any issues I may have had most of the time. They were pretty punctual but could not get the job done. I would not use them again in the future.

I feel like Terminex is really trying to take advantage of some their elderly clientele. The tech tried intimidating us by saying they would cancel their pest control services with us if we did not take care of this situation. I feel like they are committing fraud against senior citizens because he assumed we wouldn't check this out for ourselves.

I’ve been using them six or seven months this time. I have a service plan but I haven’t paid them anything because they haven’t gotten rid of the rodents. A guy is coming out tomorrow who is higher up on the food chain than the men who set traps. I want to make it clear to him that I want to get rid of these things and that I want poison and I know where to put it so my dogs won’t get to it. I can’t stand it anymore. As far as being prompt and accommodating, they’ve been wonderful. They just haven’t gotten too many rats with their rat traps. The traps snap closed but they don’t catch anything. I didn’t compare their price to anyone else. They are very good about getting out here when I want them and the salesman I’ve dealt with has bent over backwards trying to help. I just want those things out of here. I will continue to use them because they are willing to listen to what I have to say about the subject and they show up when I call. I called yesterday and asked them to come in two days. When I call, they come almost immediately. I find that very reassuring.

They have done a relatively good job every time I have used them. They have taken care of my pest problems. They announce themselves properly when they come to my house and follow up with a written report. Any termite damage is covered by them in their plan, which is very nice. I would recommend them to others.

The guy who comes to do the job is very contentious. He seems to do a good job. If there is any problem, he is willing to take care of them.

This serviceman was very informative and professional. I felt very comfortable with him and his level of service left me feeling as though I can trust the integrity of the company. I recommend them.

They do a good job. I’ve never had a bug problem since I’ve been using them.

I’ve had no problems with them. They do a good job. They keep out the pests, termites, and insects.

They take care of the dirt dobbers. They come when needed, and they are prompt. Sometimes they are a few minutes early.

Our overall experience is good and we will use them again in the future.

Everything is good. They show up on time.
