+ -1 moreLies about performing service when not done. Customer service is awful. They just want your money and for you to go away.
Description of Work: We paid Terminex for their Termite baiting system for ten years now at approx. $400/year. We have discovered most recently (over the last year) that the bait systems they were suppose to be inspecting/maintaining quarterly have not even been checked! In the last instance (3/16/10), I was actually outside and so the Terminex employee go to one side, say he couldn't find any stations (not surprising, since they haven't been maintaining them, they are now lost under a few layers of grass), try to sell me a different system (even though we still have a "contract" for the current one for 3 more months), then leave! He didn't service a single bait station. When I went online and checked my account, I saw that he recorded the job as completed. I then spent several days trying to get someone else out here to actually do the work that he was suppose to have done...5 days later, the Manager (Bob) said he'd finally make it out, but by then I'd hired a different company to ACTUALLY protect our homes from termites. This same company showed me the inside of the unattended bait systems around our house and it was clear from their deteriorated state that no one's been checking them for quite a while (year or longer). Be warned...Terminex has so many loopholes in their "contracts" that they never pay to repair your house if it should get termites under their plans (read the internet and see all the class action lawsuits out there and the AG's from various states that have complaints against them). I feel like a total sucker to have been paying them all these years! All Terminex wants to do is SELL SELL SELL...but they're selling you non-existent protection for your home.

+ -1 moreThe local TAMPA office is very professional and helpful, but somewhere between Corporate Hqs and local Tampa, their customer service and response to customer problems has been lost. It started earlier this year when I was getting notices that my credit card had expired, NOT TRUE. We had to change the account numbers due to a new card, which I could see was correct when viewing my account - and used it to pay TERMINIX. After calling and being assured this was fixed, it happened again. Then we had our yearly inspection - ALL WAS WELL. Two months later we got notice that on 8 July we were scheduled for a "TENTING" that we had requested - again NOT TRUE, and also our "annual inspection". I called, talked to Dallas office and then the Tampa office "call center" you can't reach an employee by name but must talk to a "liaison". Both Dallas and local assured me we didn't ask for a "tenting" and "annual inspection" was already done - and cancelled the 8 July service. All fine until a few days after 8 July, our account showed a bill for both tenting and annual inspection!! For about $400 total - I again sent e-mail (22 AND 29 July) to local office, and got no reply. I also sent same e-mail to ?customer service? at TERMINIX Hqs, which assured me that I would hear from a company rep within a day - two weeks later I am still WAITING. I have cancelled my TERMINIX service and hired a new company from the top of Angie's list - 1st service was today and EXCELLENT.
Description of Work: I NO LONGER use them for pest control services.

+ -1 moreDuring our annual subterranean termite inspection the tech left some information on some new services. One was insulation that also aided in pest control. The other was treatment for dry wood termites, with an annual ongoing contract. As I was already looking into getting additional insulation, I asked him to return and go into more detail. It all sounded good, so I signed contracts for the two services. Installation was scheduled. The installers were on time, and did a very good job. I noticed an immediate difference in the efficiency of our AC unit.
Description of Work: Insulation was installed & the house was treated for dry wood termites.

+ -1 moreIn the area that we live in, there are a lot of termites. So, we always have to be protected. We have been using Terminix for this, for several years. We have a yearly agreement with them. They come out every quarter to check everything, both inside and outside. I am not sure if they spray for bugs. They are not cheap, though. However, I am sure they are priced similarly as any other company, except a local company. Terminix is a known brand and they have a lot of experience in pest control. The price we pay them is worth the money, as we get to keep the termites at bay. We use them because of the superior quality of work. When we need them, we call them and they are out in 24 hours.
Description of Work: Terminix does pest control for us. They do both interior and exterior pest control. They also put in protective barriers around the house. Their most recent visit to us was last week.

+ -1 moreWe interviewed several pest control companies and we just liked what Terminix had to offer and I have had them for years. I would think that there are some companies who offer a cheaper price, but, I have had no problems with them. They also send someone if we need them on short notice. Their responsiveness is extremely good as far as I am concerned and they have always attended all my concerns and questions pretty quickly. They are very professional, very careful around the home because I have a lot of garden and inside the house.
Description of Work: I use them for exterior pest control service and they come out quarterly. We had a termite baiting system that they switched to something new this year.

+ -1 moreMost of the employees who have come out to do the work have all been excellent. I actually have told their employees that they cannot come inside if they make me uncomfortable. I have no problem calling and asking for Terminix to send someone else out.

+ -1 moreThey are also on call, which is nice, too. You give them a call, and they'll go over the inside and outside of the house for bugs. Their promptness is excellent. If you find a critter and don't know what it is, a worker will stop by in a day or two to tell you what it is. They are really good people.

+ -1 moreThe last time they came over, they did not schedule an appointment with me and only left a recorded message on my phone. I had to reschedule the appointment. I waited the whole day for the person to come. He did not knock on the door and did not see me as well. But, he left a ticket saying that he did an inspection. I was not happy with their service. I called them and informed them, and they said that they would reschedule the appointment.

+ -1 moreI have been using them for 20 years or more. They come over monthly when they are due and all the work happens exteriorly. There is nothing done inside the house. They do their job and leave the bill on the door. They are very professional and answer all our questions. One of the crew usually informs me after knocking the door that he would be spraying pesticides outside if I am to leave for some place. He also asks me whether I would be having any questions. I am pleased with their service.

+ -1 moreFrank is the person who comes out to do the work. He is very good, knowledgeable and helpful. He is a no nonsense kind of person who even knows things like how my dogs would react. He shows up anytime we call, and he cleans up after himself. If he over-sprays, he makes sure that that is set right. Their price is a little higher than the other companies prices.

I was recommended to them by a neighbor and I am not changing. I haven't seen roaches since they started coming. Even if I see ants on my tree in the backyard they come out and take care of it.

+ -1 moreOur technician Carlos is great. Because he is always the one that comes, I feel that he really understands our needs. He is very respectful when he enters our home to do the inside service. I have 2 small children, one is 10 mos, so he takes off his shoes when coming into our home. That's not something that I've asked him to do, he just did it. Also, the company in general is very responsive when they are asked to come back for re-treatment. We don't have any bug issues and hope to keep it that way.
Description of Work: We have once a year pest control & termite protection with them, but this report is only for the pest control. We do prepay for the year, so the cost is a little cheaper. I think that it's normally $99/quarter. They do an inside treatment once a year and then return 3 more times for the outside treatment for a total of 4 treatments a year. They will also come out if you see any live bugs or find any other issues. As part of the plan, they will treat for fleas, but they have strict guidelines that need to be followed. Your floors need to be vacuumed (bag thrown away) and you & your pets need to leave for at least 3-4 hrs.

+ -1 moreIn Florida, even the cleanest of homes can end up with ants, roaches, etc. They've done a great job and the only bugs I see are usually dead. If I do encounter a problem with pests, they come out in a timely manner at no additional charge to treat inside my home. I also had a problem with fruit rats getting into my house last winter. They came out several times, even bringing a supervisor once, and cleared that problem under my pest control contract. There was no additional charge. My serviceman is Carlos and he works with my schedule very well. Any problems inside the home require me to be home to let him in. Since I work, he calls me 20 minutes before he'll be at my house and I can meet him there.
Description of Work: I originally hired Terminix several years ago when I first moved into my townhome and discovered I had termites. They treated that for $600. Since then I have contracted for quarterly service for pest control at $86/quarter. The pest control contract includes their service person coming out any time I have a problem at no extra charge.

+ -1 moreI was very pleased with the sales person who came to my house. He has been very thorough, has always followed up when he said he would and even came back after the termite service was done. The pest control portion of my service was very good and the service man explained everything he did before he did it. My displeasure was with the team that tented my home. I followed the recommended list of things to do and was assured that my plants would be ok. When I came home they had put the tent over my brand new gardenia bushes in the back of the house and over top of a very old and well established azalea bush in the front of my home. When I call the manager to ask what they were going to do about this he simply said that it was part of what happens when a house is tented. He was not going to do a thing about it. I am a licensed Real Estate agent here in Tampa and have seen plenty of termite treatments done. On some occasions they can't help, but put the tent over the bushes because they are to close to the house. I have also seen companies go the extra mile not to put the tent over the plants. I will not recommend this company any longer to anyone that I work with as a buyer or seller and I will definitely not recommend them to any other agents in my office.
Description of Work: I purchased a termite treatment with a 5 year warranty as well as pest control for the same amount of time as a package deal. My house was tented on July 24, 2008.
