The quote for a move a some articles in storage in denver to vail(2hour) drive was $4600. They included overnight charges etc. I think they just gave a ridiculous bid because my move was too small for them to deal with.

I had been planning and packing for this move for 4 months. I was so stressed out, until I spent 5 min. talking to Tim and Adam. I knew I was in good hands. They were prompt, professional, yet fun to talk to and share stories. I had read many horror stories on the internet about moving companies adding as much as $2500 to the price that was quoted when the destination was reached. The price I was quoted was Exactly what I paid. To me that was extremely important, since everything during a move is budgeted. I consider the money I spent to have my things moved by Start Moving was the best money I have spent in a long time. Anyone planning a move, would be foolish not to use this company. Besides being an exceptional company to do business with, it is without a doubt one of the most interesting business models I have come across in some time. I doubt if any other company would have given me the service that I received. There was tons of weight on the 2 trucks, but again, what I was quoted was what I paid. A great deal for a packrat like myself. Please do yourself a huge favor and consider this company for your next move. It has been 8 days since my move and I can honestly say I tell at least 2 people a day about my experience. If you do use Start Moving, you will be blown away if Tim or Adam show up to move you. These 2 guys are exceptional workers and just flat out nice, trusting guys.
Description of Work: All furniture was wrapped, as well as alot of shop equipment. The guys were also able to get a golf cart, kayak and small boat on the truck. There wasn't a single thing I wanted moved that they were not able to handle. I would consider some of my items a little challenging, but it did not stop Tim and Adam from making it happen. The truck packing was a work of art. It was so well thought out, that my whole house went into a 26ft truck. I had an additional truck added to my order a couple days before the move was scheduled. I thought it would be an issue, since it was only a few days before they were to arrive, but it was no problem.I had a couple hundred plus boxes, but each one seemed to be strategically placed in the truck.Upon arrival, everything was put exactly where I wanted and anything that had been broken down for packing was reassembled and put where i asked.

I am having to deal with the insurance company now and they have contradicted what there E-Mail stated as to the cost of the repairs on my furniture. Nothing has been resolved and I am tired of fighting with both the start moving company and the Insurance company. My next step will be taking it to court to get my furniture repaired properly by local people that where recommended to me I have been working with the insurance company and they have contradicted what they e-mailed me that the damage to my furniture came to. The damages totaled nearly $2,500 dollars and they offered only $1,600. I am sick to death of trying to deal with both the company and the insurance company. And have agreed to settle with them for the $1,600. When Start Moving wrote there response they said I only pointed out one corner of the one dresser and that is a lie !!! When I pointed out the first one they said they didn't do it and started arguing with me. Then I pointed out another and went through the same thing !! So I stopped right there. I was too tired to have words with the employee that was in charge. He lied that he didn't drive recklessly and we saw him with our own eyes. I have used other moving companies and never had any trouble like I had with them and for them to deny the damage is totally unprofessional. I have yet to get the check from the insurance company and it has been nearly 6 month since our move.
Description of Work: I hired this company to move me from Summerfield to Englewood Fl. They showed up on time and pointed out one small scratch on one of my chests from my bedroom set. I signed noting that I knew about that scratch. When they were driving to our new home they where driving to fast in the outside lane where trucks are NOT PERMITTED !! They were 2 cars behind us when the traffic came to a sudden stop. The truck with our belonging had to go to the emergency lane to stop from hitting any cars and ended up nearly beside us. I am certain that is what caused the damage to my furniture. When we arrived to our new home they where already here before us. After unloading the bedroom set I pointed out some damage to the long dresser and the young man that I pointed it out to said that it had to have been there before !!! And argued with me about them causing the damage. Then when my Leather recliner was brought in there was a large indent in the leather on the back of the chair and they said again that was there when they picked it up. Needless to say I didn't point out anything else that I found at that time. When contacting the owner of the company and telling him about the reckless driving and how sure we where that caused a shift in the load that caused the damage his response was the breaks didn't lock up so he didn't think it would have caused the damage. After SEVERAL e-mails with pictures and estimates of the damage he offered me $1,000 dollars to settle the claim. The chest and dresser to my bedroom set that was only 8 months old cost me $7,000 and the estimate to fix it with to the best of the repair could do was $1,550 alone not to mention the scratches on my new refrigerator that has been repaired now costing us $150.00. And the leather chair repair estimate at over $2,000 to repair the back of the leather chair. So If anyone wants there belonging damaged and the company won't take responsibility for there employees actions then use this company. BUT I MYSELF WOULDN'T USE THEM AGAIN !!!!!

when the movers left the residence, there was only one dresser pointed out and marked on the invoice as damage to be settled. Sometimes these things happen, however weeks later the client pointed out several damages that were unknown to our company. We offered to settle on all of the damages at $1000 which was more than enough to get everything repaired including damages that could have occurred after the job was completed. We still took the next step and helped the client submit a claim to our insurance company, who then offered the client even more to settle the claim and had extensive estimated done for repairs, the client still refuses to settle the claim and is very unrealistic about what the value of her items truly are. We still to this day are doing everything in our power to help the client through the process and still hope to turn her into a satisfied client. Please note that we do have everything documented along with signatures on previous damages that were shown to the client before we ever started the move. These things rarely happen and in this case it was only a few small nicks or scratches and the case has gone way too far at this point. We hope those reading this will understand both sides of the story and make a rational conclusion, we care tremendously about our customer satisfaction and we will stop at nothing until everyone is completely satisfied, this client WILL get her damages covered and then probably a little something extra. It's always a great day to "Start Moving".

They were great, wrapped everything carefully, put the cases right where we wanted them. My partner and I have always moved our showcases ourselves, but he was out of town and unavailable to help. Will never move them again ourselves. The price was reasonable and this was sure a lot easier on us. I will definitely call them for any move in the future.

Please read both sides of the story before you decide to look for another company. We always provide the best possible service and ALL other reviews will show you this. Here are the facts: 1) During the pre-move inspection the customer was quoted 2-4 hours and it took 4.5 hours however the Invoice shows that he was only charged for 4 hours and the half hour was on us free, not to mention that it does take 2-4 hours per pod and the client had 3 pods. 2) The client would not take any of our protection offers and signed off in writing that he declined all coverage for scratches and damages. 3) Before we arrived, the client already padded his furniture with improper technique and not actual furniture pads, and because of this we put a special clause on the invoice that we will not be held responsible for damages what so ever because we were not allowed the time to properly pad his items. 4) Even though the client did not take any protection plan and released us from all liability he still claimed damages and we actually credited him $100 as a courtesy because he said that would satisfy the situation and he was not happy, we also have this in writing. We know that we are the best in the industry and sometimes the client will try to cut corners or throw a company under a bus to save money and it only costs them mentally and financially in the end. To all of our future clients, just sit back, enjoy the move and let us do what we recommend in order to take the stress out of your moving experience. Don't let the review above take you away from the possibility of a great moving experience.

They did a very fast job of moving all our furniture and boxes into their truck, and after storing everything for 7 months, they delivered all the boxes to our new home and set up the furniture. I expected some damage/breakage during the move and was very pleased that nothing was broken. I did find a few scrapes that were not there before. It appears some of the wood may have scraped against the white walls of the storage unit but I'll be able to remove the paint scrapes and will use stain removing polish to cover up some scratches. Considering that they moved glass antique cabinets and mirrored picture frames, I was very impressed. The young men who work for the company are very professional and take as much care as I would, maybe more. I highly recommend Start Moving. You will not be disappointed.

After reading that Start Moving has a simple pricing system, i.e., they charge by the size of the truck rather than by square feet or poundage, etc., I asked for a quote on a 26' truck, their largest, and asked if our car could be towed also. Unfortunately, the car could be towed only by smaller truck. Brittany sent a very reasonable quote within 15 minutes and agreed to hold the reservation for the truck for us. Later during the day, we found that we were going to need a larger truck, so decided to go with the other moving company. I called Brittany to let her know that, unfortunately, we weren't going to be able to use the company's services. She immediately suggested that maybe we could take a different approach: In addition to the 26' truck, they could use a 16' truck which could also accomplish another goal...that smaller truck could tow our car. At the end of this discussion, Brittany sent me a new quote (which also included free storage for a short time until our closing. The pricing was very good and Smart Moving was flexible. In the end, however, the other mover 1) had his foot in the door earlier, 2) had a family connection, and 3) made an adjustment in his price. While, for the above reasons, we made a choice to not use the company's services this time, I was so impressed with Brittany and her firm that I am, frankly, sorry I was unable to work with them. I think anyone who has need of this type service would be well served by giving Smart Moving a chance to fight for it.
Description of Work: I contacted Start Moving for a quote on a move from New York to Boynton Beach, Fl. It was Monday and we needed a truck on Friday. I spoke to Brittany, who was the ultimate friendly, but efficient, professional. We had a fluid situation at the time and we had a moving company who had just that morning quoted the move...we were doing a last minute, pressured, look at our options.

I received a response email asking me to fill out a grid sheet although I had entered everything on a previous email and thought I had been very thorough. I responded with the filled out grid. I had also asked for a quote to tow my car behind their truck. The quote, in my opinion, was outrageous as I am moving furniture and miscellaneous items that basically amount to an approximate 800 sq. ft. one bedroom condo. I'm moving from Austin, TX to Washington, DC. The move is for mid-March and while I haven't received any other quotes yet - I had this same move done for about 1/3 the cost. Also, the $7,000 did not include towing my car - they wanted another $1,500 to do that. I have received two other quotes for that - one for $1,050 and the other for $1,200.

Keep in mind we are an exclusive move company. This means we do not put multiple families on the same truck. As careful with my stuff as a newborn baby.
Description of Work: Moved cross country. 3 BR house . I got a good deal because they were returning to Florida from Colorado anyway, so I was kinda on there way back . Don and Tony were very gentle with my stuff. They took time to pack carefully and load properly.. Moving is never fun or easy but they did a Great job.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. They were very good, very accommodating, and thorough. I was pleased that they tried to make sure that there won't be any extra cost and that was nice. We were pleased with the pricing and the service. I don't have any complaints.

I can't imagine a more competent, professional, team than Tim & Todd. Yet they were friendly and had a good sense of humor, which is important to me. Tim's customer relations manner is well beyond his years, especially when addressing any concerns I had. Todd has to be one of the fastest, most organized and competent workers I have ever experienced. If I ever had to move again, I would not hesitate to call Start Movers and, if possible, I would request Tim & Todd.

Three men showed up for several hours of packing services and provided small and medium boxes, paper, and tape - and had a hauler of other moving supplies if needed. The Angie's list deal included their services and some supplies. We ended up buying about $30 bucks more supplies and tipped $30 - $10 each for great service. They worked hard, they were very responsive, they called ahead to confirm, and they did a courtesy reschedule when our closing date on our house was pushed out. Great deal, great team!

Three young guys showed up - eager to work. While I didn't have a lot of stuff to move, the stuff I did have they were extremely diligent with wrapping and moving onto and then off of the truck. They were courteous and a pleasure to work with and completed everything I needed move in the allotted 3 hour time frame - it worked out perfectly. I would definitely recommend and hire them again.

Very professional worked as a team polite and fast.
Description of Work: First move from Riverview to Lido Key was an all dayer end of July HOT HOT HOT. the guyes did not stop until the job was done. They sent three instead of two which worked out great. Second move was the garage to storage unit and the rest to Goodwill. Excellect job both times.

Unfortunately, as a person trained in 'Quality Customer Service,' I don't often get to use words like 'STUPENDOUS' and 'FANTASTIC' when describing service provider organizations. but Start Moving Movers earned those descriptions and more! My family and I want to personally thank Tim and Mark for going above and beyond what we expected in terms of politeness, punctuality, efficiency and genuine concern for the well-being of our belongings in their care. From the first phone call advising us they were on their way with an ETA that was right on time to the genuine smiles and handshakes thanking us for our business at the end of what can only be described as a pleasurable experience, these gentlemen were true professionals. Because our moving experiences in the past haven't been so great, we were very apprehensive about the move. There was no need to worry. Even though we paid by the hour, the three young men worked hard and efficiently to get the move done quickly. However, they took care to wrap and pad all furniture in order to protect. They did an excellent job.
