Description of Work: John, a representative from Start Moving, came to my apartment the day after I called for an estimate. He was prompt, friendly, efficient and answered all of my questions. The estimate he gave me was the total price charged. The movers, Anthony, Justin, and Ben were very pleasant, hard working and resourceful. The weekend my move-in was scheduled in Durham, NC, there was a winter storm with lots of ice. Because of that the move-in was delayed one day. None of us was able to get to the apartment. In order to minimize the risk of falling, damaging the furniture or themselves, or tracking ice and the dirt put down to cover It, they constructed a path into my apartment by using packing paper and blankets which worked well. I could not have been more pleased. This experience has made me a believer in the value of using businesses recommended on Angie's List!

Description of Work: Excellent service provider. Everyone was very responsive to all our questions. Was a little apprehensive the day of the move but the 2 movers (Ben and Thomas) showed up when they said they would and got right to work. They worked very diligently and were very careful with all our furniture. Ben and Thomas did a great job, they worked hard the entire time they were on the clock and I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs moving assistance. Using them will help reduce the stress level that comes with moving. Thanks again Ben and Thomas for making our move stress free.

Description of Work: Broke very large expensive glass paid 29.00 which I should have gotten more insurance but they only moved it 15 feet. guys told their office I was ok with the breakage when I called in

Description of Work: Showed up on time with the number of people and size of truck agreed upon. The crew was deliberate if not fast in loading and unloading. To their credit, they did accomplish the loading, unloading and travel of 100 miles within the time specified (8 hours). We did have virtually everything but the furniture boxed and waiting for them in the garage. It was suggested by the moving crew that tips would be appreciated but not required which I thought was odd. My real concern was with the fact that the movers were not careful with our items. I personally saw several heavy boxes dumped on top of boxes that had been marked fragile. Remarkably, we didn't have much breakage but we did have a number of new furniture pieces that were scratched or scraped and our new golf cart got several dings in the fiberglass body. Unfortunately for me, I was tricked into signing a waiver of liability for Start Moving at the time I was signing to acknowledge the move had been accomplished. Because of this, they wouldn't honor the insurance I also purchased although they did agree to refund the $50 I paid for the insurance. All in all, I felt I had been scammed. I don't recommend using them but if you do, don't sign anything without being absolutely sure you understand what you're signing. Oh, and check carefully to ensure they haven't taken anything they shouldn't when they leave. They took a brand new furniture dolly my neighbor had lent to me and when I asked about it, they claimed not to have it (they do).

Description of Work: They recommended that we do TWO TRIPS and i felt that it could have been done with ONE trip so we went with someone else.

Description of Work: Used Start Moving for three days to move parents out of their home into a retirement community. The guys were prompt, professional, efficient and a HUGE help. We could not have pulled this move off without them. Heather and Brittney in the office were equally professional, efficient and a joy to work with. A BIG ThANK YOU to the Start Moving team! Would recommend them without reservation.

Description of Work: I have no complaints. The move did take longer than planned which increased my cost, but there was a lot to move, and it was coming down from the 3rd floor. The guys worked pretty much non-stop and were very courteous, friendly, professional and efficient. I was very pleased with this company.

Description of Work: I made a deal with Angie's List to pay $345 to move my daughter's piano from Tampa Florida to Oviedo Florida. I was in the impression that The piano would be insured. They asked for another $100.00 to insure to piano. Because of this, I canceled the deal.

Description of Work: Tried contacting twice, first time got a response, but they ignored my initial questions in my email contacting them. The second time, I left a message on their answering system during normal business hours, and never was called back.

Description of Work: We used Smart moving for our move from Georgia to Pennsylvania. Our movers, Tim and Will, were absolutely fantastic. They were punctual, considerate and very professional. We had a 3600+ sqft house (plus a garage and attic) and even though it was only the 2 of them to do the entire house, they packed every room with such care and meticulousness. (Nothing was broken!) It was evident they knew how to professionally pack. They were always considerate of our time and communicated any concern they had during the move. After the packing was complete, they were on the road and at our new house in less than 2 days. At our new home, furniture was put back together and was moved (happily) if put in different room than planned. In addition, they didn't leave until we were absolutely sure everything was exactly where and how we wanted it. |Tim and Will went above and beyond the job of packing items into a truck and transporting them; they made us feel completely comfortable and at ease with the process. They understood how stressful moving can be for a family and took such care in everything that they did. Will and Tim take great pride in their job and I would recommend them highly to anyone.

Description of Work: Needed two guys to unload my storage unit and pack my truck for New Mexico. |There were alot of books and other heavy items mixed with lighter items that were marked FRAGILE along with a Grand Piano Upright, but these guys packed that truck to the gills and absolutely nothing got squashed or broken... and the drive was SMOOTH and true . |We didnt realise just how well the load had been packed until we emptied it and couldn't get it all into the garage as we'd planed... | |Overall very good service. Punctual attentive and Professional. |Our daughter is moving down here next year and we will be calling them again!
