It went fine. We had him come back and drill some holes so it would drain a little faster. They also came back and fixed the aluminum corner support that our lawn service had cut.
Description of Work: He installed a screen porch for us.

Prior to the salesman coming I had written a list of items that I wanted included in the contract. These items were the types of things that always seem to come up whenever there are workers at our house. Things like providing bathroom facilities, providing tools that the workers did not bring with them, providing ice for their drinks, etc. I had indicated that if I loaned out any tools or supplies that I would charge $60 per hour with a 4-hour minimum. I showed the list to the salesman and discussed it with him. He told me that Jack Hall Jr had his own crews and they had all of the tools, equipment and supplies and were professional in the exicution of their duties. I related to him how I had "lost" tools to workers in the past and thus the reason for my list. Of course my list or any reference to it was not noted on the contract. On the list I had also made mention of a comitment to an estimated completion date and had given a seven day grace period before a per day penality would start. The salesman told me that with the amount of work we had that a three to five man crew would come out and have the job completed in three to four days. The day the job started one man showed up. The first thing to happened was tell my wife an off color "joke". The next thing to happen was for him to eat his lunch and throw chicken bones out into the yard. We have two small dogs and for them to get to those bones would not be a good thing. My wife asked him to pick them up and he did, but then he just threw them over the fence. Needless to say when I got home and got the report I called Jack Hall Jr Co and was told that the man had been told not to tell the off color jokes. I was told that he had over 21 years of experience and he really knew what he was doing. The guy gave my wife the creeps and I did not really enjoy talking to him either. Before he left for the day he asked to use our bathroom. Throughour the dourse of the job he requested the use of brooms and rakes. I told him about my policy and what I charged and he backed off and said he would bring one the next day, but he never did. He installed material wrong, cut several panels of the very expensive insulated patio roofing wrong and then had to be back ordered. The new pool gutter was drilled wrong and had to be reordered and then when the job was completed has holes drilled in obvious locations that are not supposed to be there. Hh never cleaned up after the days work and left his tools laying about. We had to take furniture inside the house because he would use it as work benches. Where he cut the aluminum there were scraps and chips in the grass because he did not lay down anything to catch them. I spent over 40 hours cleaning the chips up as well as insulation from the attic that came down into the bushes when he removed the old soffet. Had he cleaned up at the end of the days work before it rained it would have been and easy thing to do. Jack Hall Jr Co kept saying "well make it right, well make it right.....But they just let the clean up thing slip on by because they really didn't want to do it. When the installer took the down spouts down he must have just pulled them down becaause there remained bits of aluminum attached to the screws in the side of the house that had attached them. There were screw holes that had not been filled etc, etc, etc..... For someone who had 21+ years in the business he apparently had not learned much either in doing this kind of work or in dealing with people. Most of the items were corrected, but it took several many calls to get the leaks in the roof stopped. I say stopped rather than repaired in that the calk in the seams was not taken out and recalked but just caulked over. In some spots this was done a couple of times. Recent inspection 9by myself) showes that all of the seams will have to have the caulk removed and a proper sealent installed. This is due to the initial caulk pealing away from the aluminum and thus the additional layers only sealing the original layer. Since I am not a professional construction person my norm is to judge a job by MY ability to do it. If I feel that I could have done a better job, then I do not feel that the job was performed in a satisfactory mannor by the professional that did it. My wife and I felt bad while this installation was going on because we would come home and "hid out" hoping that the installer would not notice that we were there. We did not want to make contact with him. this three to four day job took about three months perhaps slightly more to complete and was a quite tense time for us. I had not planned on the additional time that I had to put in for the clean up and the new enclosure is not as enjoyable as we had planned in that whenever we sit out there we relive the experiance. My advise to anyone considering Jack Hall Jr as a contractor to do work for them is to: RUN - RUN Like the wind!!!!
Description of Work: We contracted with Jack Hall Jr to install new aluminum soffet and facia to the permiter of our house, replace several bent aluminum support members to the pool enclosure, add an insulated aluminum roof to the 12 foot by 50+ foot patio and rescreen the patio and pool enclosure. These services were performed.

Terrible-see above. This pertains to sliding glass pocket doors.
Description of Work: I first contacted them to enclose an area with sliding pocket doors. This was in Januar 20 2011. They showed up sporadically . Took them four months to install three doors. When the doors were done, they didn't cover the entire opening , off by 7 inches...just sloppy, sloppy work. They used sheet metal for the pocket door covering......it was patched together, and looked like a cargo freight train. We took it off ourselves. It was just a terrible experience. I had to get the inspector to help me out before jack hall would fix the area that wasn't enclosed. I needed a secure room. Four months!! This was outrageous . I would never use this company again, and I hope no one else will. It wasn't inexpensive, I did pay in full just to be rid of them.

The man keeps changing the name of his company. He was Jack Hall Windows and Doors when I signed the contract. When I paid him it was a different company name. He stays one step ahead of people and scams them. He nearly took my house. I bought windows which were supposed to be hurricane grade and he installed them. They were good windows poorly installed. I bought windows that I thought I would be able to open. They were a balance of a few thousand dollars left on the bill and I refused to pay it until he fixed the windows. It ended up with him getting me what is called mechanics lien on me to take my house for the balance due. I had to call an attorney and it ended up costing me $60,000 because he did one of the change companies again and I was suing the company and not the individual. I found out through the trials and tribulations that he was not doing it to me alone but to about 9 individuals. I prevailed and he was supposed to pay my attorneys fees and it didn't work quite that way. He paid a little of it and said he would be bankrupt and I had to buy windows from another company. It is a second generation thing and his father did the same. It doesn't show anything bad on Better Business Bureau because he keeps changing the name of the company. If there is anything bad it goes to the company name that he was using at that moment. The new company has a new record and it was a total scam. To my knowledge it is still going on but because money is a lot tighter he is not doing that well. I have not seen his hummer driving around. He had his employees throw things in my front lawn and I knew who it was because I know his trucks. He knows everybody including the judges and lawyers. He keeps changing his name. The only thing that was reasonably decent which the installers didn't get hold of was the window company that manufactured the windows but because of me they went out of business. The windows were decent but they were just installed badly. He is a big danger.
Description of Work: I used the service of Jack Hall Jr's Const & Alum to install windows about five years ago.
