Mr. Cleary never read the note with the monthly payment, he just cashed the check. Simple enough mistake to overlook a note, and he admitted doing it to my mother over the years. So when I emailed him about it, I got a note back on the 24th saying ". . . we will never be able to please you as we did your mom. As of April 30th I have decided to discontinue your lawn service. . . ." He owed us one more mowing before the 30th, and the guys did not show up to do it. My 89-year-old mother told me she was always AFRAID to complain about anything Cleary's did, and I never understood why she said that until I had this encounter with James B. Cleary, Jr. Mrs. Clear later sent a letter of aplology (of sorts) and returned my last payment of $150. But to just suddenly stop our service because I asked for no poison and to stop mowing over the hoses, well, that's a bit much. So the guys who do the service are great, nice, professional (except for mowing over hoses and forcing the gate open) and pleasant. In fact, I tipped them $100 each at Christmas 2013 and thanked them for doing good work. But their boss, Mr. Clearly, is not professional and doesn't know thing one about customer service. He knows only how to cash checks and kick cancer patients to the curb. I would not recommend this company to any elderly or anyone with health problems. Further, I believe that he would not have treated me this way had I been a man, so I would not recommend Cleary's to women. They are opening a new retail store, and I have no problem with their retail business because I don't give them any. This complaint is about only the management of the Lawn and Landscaping division of Cleary's. I can substantiate everything except my original note, which was sent to Cleary's. I have all emails and the note from his wife.
Description of Work: My mother died, and I inherited her house--and the lawn service: Cleary's. When I mailed them a note with my payment to ask that they not use Roundup (a herbicide) because I have kidney cancer and am concerned about the poison in it, and that they stop running over and ruining our hoses, and stop forcing open our wooden gate, I got no reply, so I emailed them.
