I called and he came right over and looked at the roof. He said it needed caulking and he did it. Hopefully it did the job.

Excellent experience. We have a very steep pitched roof and therefore many other contractors quoted much higher, or flat out said they would not perform the work. Jim Belcher had no qualms and completed the work within a week and a couple hundred dollars UNDER budget. He is very knowledgeable and we would definitely use him again, although hopefully will not have to :)

I was furious. I was going to give him the job. He quoted me about the same as the other company. I was totally going to hire him because he put the tar on my roof. He was going to cover a bump with tar or something. He came out with $175. I was done with him at that moment. I thought he did it for goodwill so I would pick him. I was done. I would not hire Belcher Contractors & Roofing Inc. He didn’t say that he is going to put tar on the roof and there was going to be a small charge. He just did it. I can’t expect something to be free and I have to ask. When I asked he told $175 will cover it. That tar cost him $20. His experience and his knowledge are worth something and I don’t dispute that. Don’t hire him. He is not great. He told me not to contact my insurance company and that is a serious mistake. It was the insurance company that actually covered a good portion of the roof. There was an exposure in my roof and it was really small. He climbed up there and told me that he put some tar on that for me. I thought that was so nice. Every other company told they will do that when I hire them, when I sign the contract. I thought he was a sweet guy; I will probably hire him and then a $175. I was so shocked. He didn’t say a word and it didn’t hit me after he drove away on how bad he ripped me off. He was nice enough. He came promptly and I think he was the second to give me a quote. I would have hired him because I thought it was good will. It changed everything. If he had charge me $50 I would have said ok. It was so overpriced and that is what caught me off guard. He seemed like a good guy. When he charged me so much I was done. He got the bucket of tar out from the back of a car and not a truck. The guy seemed to have a fair price on roofing and he seemed to be knowledgeable. He kind of over explained things that made me go from being super confident to kind of doubt. He drove up in a car and not in a truck. He told it was a rental and I don’t have any reason to disbelieve him. It seemed to be an ok company. He just blew it and he just made a poor judgment call. He came for a quote, did a repair and then ripped me off. I think he was $100 less than the other company and he was using comparable things. One was a $100 more product. He would have used that if I had asked him to so that makes his price comparable. He was prompt, he was polite but he just blew it. He was a little late. I think he can be a professional and then be a creep too. I would not use him again not even for a million dollars.

It didn't for very well over all at all as Mr. Belcher did not show up to do the work. I do not mean to imply that Mr. Belcher took any money and THEN did not do the work but the amount above is about the amount I would have paid him including a case of Vaulkin 116 and the date is approximately when the job was to start.

He was very respectful. He was on time which was very impressive. He explained what would be done and there were no hidden fees.

As it should... Accomplished exactly what he promised.

We haven't had a rain to test the roof yet, but it looks like a really good quality job. He was very easy to talk to and he was always willing to explain things. He went out if his way for us to make sure the roof was perfect. He also gave a really good price. He had to do more repair than originally thought and he kept the price pretty close to the original estimate considering the additional work needed. The shingle has a 30yr warranty and will resist up to 130mph winds.
