The technician came on time to do the estimate and gave us a verbal quote. However, I asked for a written quote several times and never got one. I needed this quote so I can compare prices and services side by side. They were the cheapest (based on the verbal quote) but I do not contract anybody's services without having a written quote. I hired the services of another company that was a lot more professional.

I called for a quote and the salesman showed up for the appointment right on time. He fully explained the product and the installation procedures. He showed me a sample and answered all my questions. We signed a contract for installation and everything went just as expected. Shutters were installed on time. The installers were very professional and worked quickly and neatly. All inspections passed on the first visit. Great company to work with. Top quality products.

Everything went quite well. The installation was professionally done. The installers were both competent and courteous. The delivery of the shutters took a little bit longer than expected but no real complaint on that issue. I would certainly recommend this company.

We secured hurricane (accordian) shutters to wrap the exterior of our outside patio to our home in Boca Raton. We were/are delighted with the product provided and, just as important, with the professional, personal attention and service provided by Mark Sloan and his staff throughout the project. Kudos to Sloan Hurricane for the quality product furnished, and a job well done.

Sloan Hurricane Protection was recommended to me to have bifold shutters installed. I did some searching for other hurricane shutter contractors and spoke with them. The general feeling I received with these phone calls was “we’re busy with work, call us in two months”. I was of the opinion these contractors were not interested in putting me in a callback list. Sloan Hurricane Protection not send that signal when I called. A few days later I was contacted by their estimator and project manager Weston Hill. We setup a time for him to come out and review the scope of the project. Weston has a laid-back approach and is a good listener. As we talked, he came up with various options available for shutter types, and installation procedures. He was up front with the fact the installation would be 4 to 6 weeks out. This was due to a backlog of materials and jobs in the queue. I appreciated knowing this at the inception of the contract. In less than six weeks I was contacted for the installation date. We worked out the date details. The day prior to the install they made a reminder call letting me know of their installation the following day. The installation went well smoothly. I appreciated the installation crew, at the end of the day, taking time to show me what all that had been done. They answered my questions about how to close and open the shutters and routine maintenance. I was impressed with their communications, on time arrival to install, and subsequent follow-ups. This is a local family owned business who I definitely recommend.

Took a long time, but excellent job now that it is completed. ha ha... Appears to be quality product, installers were fabulous. Clean, clear, knew what they were doing. Shutters look great! Devon was fabulous to work with, and Mr. Sloan is a sweet heart!

MY DOORS ARE HEAVEN!!! It's been 3 weeks since my new sliding glass doors were installed. Love them! Everything from the day they were measured to the day they were installed couldn't have been more perfect. I was freaking out about having it done. But Mike and Billy put up with me and all my worries and concerns. They were awesome!!! I had rotten wood replaced, new frames made, they did it all. And had everything to deal with all my problems with them on their trucks! They put up plastic barriers inside and cleaned everything. I couldn't have been happier. They really were so nice and considerate of everything. And Gretchen that works in the office is so on top of things. She kept me informed of everything, ordering, updates on delivery, installation etc. She is so sweet and really let's you know she cares and anything you need she's there to help. My doors are gorgeous!

Sloan Hurricane is amazing, the office staff is amazing and so reassuring. I was worried about not having protection for my home this hurricane season but they assured me that they would have everything completed in a timely manner. They took care of everything and I didn't have to worry about a thing! The installers were very clean and took all the right steps to make my home look perfect. I'm going to recommend Sloan to everyone I know!

I received great service from the salesman, office staff , installers and owner. High quality panels installed on time and professionally. When I had a question, the owner Mark came out to my house and explained it to me. Devon in the office kept me up to date and informed about my installation date and was very helpful and courteous. I’ll recommend them to my family and friends.

Fantastic job. When I came home from work yesterday and found that the house was practically done, I was so happy. Top-notch work, courteous crew, neat and tidy. Very happy with the quality and service.

I decided not to use Sloan for my accordian shutters and hesitated writing a negative review until I saw similar reviews on yelp. Dealing with their salesman Scott was a nightmare and, in the end, I felt very uncomfortable with this company because of him. I started by visiting their office and shop and was impressed. My biggest concern was not having shutters my new accordian shutters installed before a hurricane but was assured by the office manager Gretchen that their installers are available for side jobs and would be happy to install my steel shutters for a reasonable fee of $10 / panel ($240 total) should the need arise. I made an appointment with Scott but of course he was a NO SHOW. After wasting my time waiting I called, but he blamed the office for not putting it on his schedule. He forgot I made the appointment directly with him, that’s how I had his number. We rescheduled and he came out, took measurements and promised a quote the next day. Several days later and numerous unreturned phone calls I finally reached him and asked about my quote. Once again he blamed the office. There were many other missteps along the way, but it would take a short novel to elaborate so let me cut to the chase. Before signing the contract, I asked Scott to confirm what Gretchen had told me regarding their installers installing my steel shutters in case of a hurricane. Now the story changed. Scott told me “they can do it but I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1000 TO BE PUT ON A LIST TO GUARANTEE INSTALLATION, PLUS PAY $250 / HOUR (1 HOUR MIN) FOR 2 MEN TO INSTALL MY 24 PANELS. THE $1000 WAS NONREFUNDABLE EVEN IF THEY NEVER INSTALLED A SINGLE PANEL. WOW!!! That was the final straw. Found another company. My new shutters have more more design features at a lower price. THANKS Scott, you did me a favor.

After hurricane Irma I decided to get accordion hurricane shutters. I investigated several companies and found that many did not want to accept smaller jobs or perform installations on multi-unit buildings like condominiums. I live in a 3 unit villa and needed shutters for only two windows and two sliding glass doors. I called Sloan in late November, 2017 for an estimate and made an appointment for their representative, Weston, to come out. Weston did a great job of explaining all the features of the product Sloan installed as well as how Sloan differs from the competition. He answered all my questions, gave me a verbal estimate on the spot and told me he would send the formal estimate/contract via email. He told me that due to the high demand they were seeing after Hurricane Irma, installation would probably take about 10-14 weeks. After reviewing the contract, I called Sloan and spoke to the owner, Mark, to ask him a few questions. Mark spent quite a lot of time answering my questions and was very enthusiastic about his company and their product. I signed the contract in early December and was again told the manufacturing time would be about 10-14 weeks. I told them that was not a problem as I was going to be away for several months. On February 26, I called to ask if they had more visibility on the installation date. I was told that they were anticipating the week of March 12, which was consistent with the 10-14 week time frame I had been told previously. To my surprise, I received a call from Sloan two days later on February 28 saying they had the shutters and asking if they could install them the next day. I told them that I was still out of town. They said that they could install them without my presence and deliver the inspection package later. I agreed, and they installed the shutters on March 1. When I got back to Florida near the end of April, I noticed several things that didn’t seem right and called Sloan to ask about them. They sent an installer, Mike, out the next day. Mike was very courteous and answered my all questions. It turns out that most of the things that I thought were problems were not problems at all but just things that needed some explanation. The rest were just minor issues that were the result of “long distance miscommunication” as I had handled the entire transaction after the initial estimate via phone and email. Mike quickly fixed these minor issues. I called Sloan and told them all the issues were resolved, and they arranged to have the county inspection on the next business day. The inspector came and approved the installation. I am quite happy with the company, the product and their very professional, courteous staff.

Mr. Mark Sloan and his entire crew were very professional, personable, punctual and worked diligently during peak hurricane season, finishing the project days before hurricane Mathew hit our area. The work was of high quality materials and performed to our satisfaction. The cost of installation was very competitive or better than other estimates we received. We would recommend Sloan Hurricane Shutters And Windows without hesitation. Excellent Company, honest and reliable.

It went well! Appointments were kept on time, installers worked quickly & efficiently. It did thanks quite a long time from when I signed the contract until installation. That didn’t worry me since I had time before hurricane season. They only asked for a minimal deposit & didn’t ask for any more $ until the job was passed by my town inspector. I then paid the balance.

*I am updating a prior review as it does not allow me to edit* While there were delays in our project and some bumps along the way, Mr. Sloan was very professional and was more than willing to work with us and bent over backwards to take care of us and complete our project in a professional manner. I appreciate the workmanship and sense of honesty I received. While I was initially frustrated and angry at the situation, Mr. Sloan did everything in his power to ensure his team left our project w/ smiles on our faces. Mission accomplished.

This is a company that is well established and takes pride in the work that they do. This was the 5th estimate of 5. Weston, the project manager, visited my home, and was the only one who took careful measurements, clearly explained the options (pins vs velcro straps, peep holes, etc.). he then e-mailed me the quote within a few hours. This was the only company that took 5% down, 90%, upon job completion, and a final 5% upon a passing bldg. permit inspection. Most of the other companies wanted anywhere from 25% to 33% down. Everything was clearly spelled out and illustrated on the contract. Although I signed early July, I was told it would be approximately 8 -12 weeks. I wish we had them before Irma, but they were ready for delivery the week of Oct. 23. The additional time was due to the manufacturer and not Mr. Sloan or his company! Billy and his crew of installers were meticulous in their work. They measured, cut, drilled, and installed neatly, and efficiently. They cleaned up every time, and put back the furniture, too. He even repositioned my sprinkler reel and shower head. When we noticed the peep holes were in the wrong place, I called and spoke with Mr. Sloan. He came to my home the very next day and told me I was right and he would order additional peep holes and have them installed at no additional charge. When he visited met home, he also noticed that the front threshold runner was squared off and sent a crew member back to the shop to get a rounded one. Within a short span of time they returned, removed the square type, and installed the rounded one. He did forewarn me that the peep hole tool and covers would take approximately two weeks to get. They did come in, in 2 weeks, and they were installed properly. At that juncture, I issued the 90% check. The building permit inspector showed up 2 days later, and there were no problems to be found! When I got my new wind mitigation report, and submitted it to the insurance company, it was rejected because the mitigation guy forgot to forward a picture of the sticker on the shutter showing it's up to code, and a copy of the permit report. I told Mr. Sloan about this and said I would forward the last 5% check upon knowing the insurance company approves the mitigation report. He said he had no problems with this because he stands behind his work. One week later I got the insurance company's approval and sent Mr. Sloan the final check. It was a pleasure to deal with a company that is responsive to the customer, takes pride in their workmanship, and stands behind their work. Get estimates, know what you want, but then call Sloan Hurricane Shutters. you won't be disappointed.

Our insurance company's representative highly recommended Sloan Hurricane Protection - we were not disappointed. Sloan's team was very responsive in developing and executing a comprehensive plan to protect our non-impact windows and doors. Sloan HP are true experts in their field, and the timing of installation met expectations. Sloan's entire team - from Mark Sloan to the installation team - were very professional and knowledgeable, and we highly recommend the Sloan HP team.

Overall, they did an excellent job and I had great experiences with Mark Sloan, the owner, and Gretchen, who does the scheduling. The guys who installed the windows and doors - Mike Sweeney and Billy - were great. They were considerate of my cats, professional and responsible. Scheduling wasn't that easy but that's due to the high demand for the windows and doors as hurricane season approaches. They take credit cards.

I'm trying to evaluate their bid against another one. They came out about two weeks ago. I've got another vendor on Angie's List that gave me a bid a few days ago, so I'm comparing them. They were a little cumbersome in getting back to you with the right thing, and the other outfit made three visits. Sloan only made one visit and he sent the rest of it by e-mail and it had some errors in it. Sloan has a lower price than the other guy. I'm trying to figure out which one to do. I changed my mind on something on the estimate. There's different kinds of hurricane shutters and different ways to do it, and the price changes significantly on what type you use.

Sloan Shutters is a very professional local company. I got 3 bids on shutters. The person who came to do my estimate from Sloan Shutters was the most professional, friendly and informative from all 3 companies. Every step of the way Sloan Shutters worked with my time frame to meet with them for the work to be done. They are very accommodating and a TOP NOTCH COMPANY. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in hurricane shutters. They are the best !!!!

Sloan Hurricane Protection is a top notch company. I had a 100% positive experience from the start of our accordion shutter installation to he final install and final inspection. Sloan's personnel were truly professional and very courteous. When I contacted them for a cost quote on my project, they sent out their estimator the same day. Once the accordion shutters were built, they scheduled an installation date and showed up on time as expected. Their installation crew were totally professional and they did a good job of cleaning up when the job was complete. Bottom line.....I was very satisfied with Sloan's service and would highly recommend them to anyone.
