Charlie Swain Plumbing

Installed water heater in my home in March 2017. I only found out yesterday from another plumber (1/29/2024) that Charlie Swain should have told me about my city's requirement for a permit.

I was informed that despite my previous business (and leaving 5 stars reviews) a plumber would not be able to visit my house for three weeks for this simple task...unless I paid for after-hours. I was willing to do this, it was $144/hr, and $72 per half hour after that. He showed up that evening and did the work, and it took about 30 minutes. He was perfectly nice, and did the work properly. I was aware I would be paying for the whole hour, no problem. I go to sign the bill, and it's for two hours, and a total of $317. Why does it say two hours I asked? Oh, travel time. I was never informed of travel time, and I have no way to verify the time spent traveling either. As a cherry on top, a $7 fuel charge, which was never mentioned in advance either. I don't appreciate being ripped off, and I would have called around if I had known they were going to scam me.

spoke to answering service on Saturday. and they recommended to call back on Tuesday when office opened. answering service and lowes said they service Miami/Coconut Grove. Office informed me today when i called back (they did not) that they dont service Coconut Grove. Lowes and answering service thinks they do.

Sam came and fixed the leak. It still leaked. It was Thanksgiving, so I emailed the company and let them know to call me. Next morning Sam was here with new pipe. Needless to say we were really impressed with the service we received. We will definitely use them again! Thank you

Did a search on Angies List for tankless gas water heater installation. They were rated well so I requested information and a quote. 4 days later have received, neither a phone call, email, or text. If they are too busy, cannot do the work, or for any other reason, they should have the consideration to reply to an Angie's List customer. I pay for Angie's list and expect more from their list of businesses.

Great. Dan fixed both problems though I told him if the second one was intractable he could skip it. He kept at it until fixed. The price was quite reasonable. I highly recommend this plumbing service.

Mr. Bebe the Service Manager came out on time, 08/21/18 9 AM, reviewed the work. Mr. Bebe was very knowledgeable and advised that one fixture had to be changed out, the other could be repaired, and cost for replacing the Water Heater. Very Professional and his price was competitive. No decision as yet.

We had another excellent customer experience with Charlie Swain Plumbing this past weekend. We awoke on Saturday to water leaking from underneath our guest bathroom toilet. I called the 24 hour number for Charlie Swain Plumbing for service. A very polite, professional and extremely capable plumber name Sam arrived a short time later, quickly diagnosed the source of the leak (which required removing and replacing the toilet), and resolved the problem in about an hour. Doing so promptly prevented damage to the tile floor or sub flooring. Well done.

The best experience I have ever had with a plumbing contractor. Our garbage disposal began leaking and I researched plumbing contractors on Angie's List and called Charlie Swain Plumbing after reading the excellent reviews they had received. The person who answered the phone was super helpful and said they could have a plumber here the same afternoon with a replacement garbage disposal and would install unit with labor for a fixed price. Mike showed up within an hour and we had a functioning new garbage disposal less than an hour after he arrived..Charlie Swain Plumbing is our go to plumbing contractor from today forward. Well done and thank you.

Work was done fine. Issue was price and additional charges. I was originally quoted a price which seemed a bit high; I asked if it was time and materials and they said yes so I said go ahead. They started that afternoon. They called me the next morning (9:58 AM) and said there was going to be an additional cost. They said the plumber would be there until that afternoon. I'm thinking, OK extra time, extra cost. I got to the work site about 15 later and it turns out everything was already done. The plumber was waiting for help to load the old heater into his truck (I helped him with that). They completely lied about the time and hours spent. When I called the office to pay the bill I said they spent a lot less time than they thought. They said, no we have at least 10 hours into the job, which again was a complete lie (I have cameras onsite). I paid the bill the day after the job was done. It took me three weeks of begging to get an invoice; I sent them a note over a week ago stating my displeasure and have not heard a peep back. I have three businesses and use a lot tradespeople. I always use licensed professionals. I understand why they charge $100 plus per hour; they are trained, insured, etc...They have to carry around a lot of expensive tools and supplies and it can be hard work. That is what is so disappointing about this experience. I was completely conned and ripped off by a seemingly reputable plumber. .

Swain Plumbing did an excellent job installing our water heater. They accomodated our need to remove the old water heater on one day, and then return a week later after some mold remediation work had been completed - all without an additional charge. In addition, their price was excellent, significantly less than other estimates we had received. I would gladly use them again and recommend them to others without reservation.

Michael arrived on time, reviewed scope of work, recommended simpler approach, and resolved a long standing drainage issue not in the original work request. From a customer service to repair service these guys were great! These people are as advertised. Our first time using them but will definitely use them again. Thank you Michael.

My hose faucet was leaky and old. It was replaced with a new one, and works perfectly.

The faucet was a Moen and plumber spent 10 minutes and said he did not have the part with him. I had to get it from Moen. Plumber didn’t charge me but said he would add his time that day to the time when he repaired the hose. When the hose was here, the plumber spent 10 minutes installing the hose and another 10 fixing a faucet stopper. I was charged $192 less a $15 angieslist discount for the total 30 minutes to do the work. I was charged for 2 hours because the plumber didn’t carry the needed part when he was here the first time. I believe this to be unfair and just another way that plumbers take advantage of customers.

I called several companies and CS was the most responsive and professional. They engaged with TECO gas to complete our registration in their water heater upgrade program. They were able to arrange for same day delivery of a non-standard size and then arrived at our home for installation the next day as scheduled. The installer (Sam) was skilled at his work and completed the installation in a couple of hours, which included replacement of a defective water feed valve.

They are my favorite plumber! They installed my hot water tank and did an excellent job.

We were able to schedule the work quickly, and the tech was knowledgeable, efficient, and did a beautiful job, even running the replacement section under the buried rebar. And the price was very reasonable! Charlie Swain Plumbing will be our go-to plumbers going forward. Thank you!

My 87 year old Mom had a sprinkler valve break on a Sunday morning. Water gushing out like an open fire hydrant! I called Charlie Swain's service and while I prayed the message would get through that she needed help, Sam, showed up to my Mom's house within an hour of my call. I was amazed and so grateful as I had called a few other numbers that advertised 24/7 service with zero response. He was so nice to my Mom and even went to Home Depot to get a part that was needed to fix it. This company and it's employees are terrific. I won't use anyone else! Thanks so much to them!!

We have called on this company numerous times for different things and have had a wonderful experience every time! Ryan, who came out went above and beyond the call of duty. Found the leak under the dining room floor - spent hours and hours fixing the main leak...then checked further and found a few more tiny leaks that would have eventually caused more trouble. Thank god for him doing that. Another plumber would have fixed the main leak and closed it up - But he was so diligent and intent on getting it all....Am so so grateful and could NOT recommend them any more highly. It's unusual to find a company that still cares and is responsible, unfailingly polite and there for you!

The old pvc under our new bathroom sinks was glued together and hard to access. Dan came over and it took him about 2.5 hours to remove the old stuff and put in new. I am really glad I didn't attempt it myself because he had to unglue and cut some old heavy gauge pvc in two tight spaces. Everything is perfect. He was a nice guy and worked really hard.

There have been no issues with the spigot since. They showed up on time and did a good job with both projects.
