A KABINET KING INC

We should have checked Angies List prior to making the appointment with Kabinet King; it would have prevented us from spending a day wondering if they were coming.

To begin with we had to ask for drawings. When we did get drawings they were hand drawn not professional at all. Not detailed, very amateur. Asked to have Blumotion soft close installed and he insisted on using another product that was suppose to be as good if not better. We agreed. The product used was from Hardware Concept Inc. The cabinets were installed before the tile was in place in the bathrooms on the second floor and in the kitchen before the wall was cut down to counter height. Allan said that because the cabinets were installed before all the work was done it messed up our soft close. He said he adjusted them so they were working. After he left we came home and tried the drawers and the still were not working. He ordered new ones and replaced the drawer slides. They still did not work right even after they have been replaced. They are hard to open and you have to use a lot of force to get them to actually close properly. He claimed that soft close is always hard to open especially the small drawers and that they will work better when the draw is loaded???? I contacted Hardware Concept Inc and they informed me that this was not true. The drawers should not be hard to open and you should not have to use a great deal of force to close the drawer. They claimed that the problem is that the drawer slides were not installed properly by my cabinet maker. I gave them the name of my cabinet maker. They had not heard of him and said that he probably had not been trained on how to install their product. They said I could come to Miami to see their showroom and see how the product should work. I do not recommend the Hardware Concept Inc product. I have Blumotion in my other home and it has worked beautifully on all size drawers large and small for 4 years without any issues. The drawers here in Florida are a big disappointment. I wanted to have the wall under the counter height bar the same material as the cabinets and I wanted the fridge enclosed with a cabinet but was discouraged by Allan not to do that. As a result the wall under the counter is always scuffed and has chipped and needs to be repaired. I believe the fridge would have looked better enclosed in a cabinet so I would not have to look at the side of the fridge. The window seat Allan made is not deep enough. He made it 16.5 " wide and once you put a cushion behind your back it makes the seat very shallow. There was room to make it deeper. I don't know why he made it so shallow. Another disappointment was the fact that when the cabinets were shimmed it was done so that the shims were visible which doesn't look good or professional. He did shove them further back so they were no longer as visible.
